A Mass in honor of the Blessed Mother will be offered on May 7th. Mass begins at 9:00 a.m. in the San Juan Chapel and Marian devotions will follow immediately with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Everyone is invited to participate.

Pre-registration for all families who are currently participating in Religious Education will begin registering on Tuesdays and Thurs-days during posted hours only! No registrations will be taken during Religious Education classes. Your RE fees must be paid/current and your child must be actively participating in classes, in order to register for next year. Spaces will fill quickly, so watch the bulletin, check your email and make sure you come by when we begin pre-registering!

2016 Holy Cross FestivalSeptember 10-11
Preliminary plans are underway for another successful Santa Cruz Catholic Church Holy Cross Festival. We invite all ministries and chairpersons to join us in preparing for this celebration.
Join us at our first monthly Ministry and Chairperson’s Meeting on Thursday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. in Deane Hall. We will meet the first Thursday, every month from 7:00-8:00 in Deane Hall.
More details about the festival will be shared soon, including information about a raffle ticket selling contest.

SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL/ESCUELA CATOLICA
News from the Principal’s DeskLast Saturday, thirty-one students from our school made their
First Communion. Their teachers, Sr. Mary Ignatius and Ms. Heather Vallilee did a wonderful job of preparing the children for this special sacrament, and I thank them for this. Thanks also go to Cathy Green and our four Sisters for providing the music at Mass that morning. Thank you also to Fr. Kirby for making is the First Communion Mass so very special.
This past Tuesday our 8th graders went to Eagle’s Wings Retreat Center for a Diocesan 8th Grade Leadership Retreat. The students had a wonderful day and came back ready to finish out the year. Five of our eight 8th graders applied to and have been accepted at San Juan Diego Catholic High School for their freshman year. We are very proud of all of them.
We have received word on our Sisters for the 2016-2017 school year. Three of the current four are returning to Santa Cruz: Sr. Ave Maria, Sr. Annunciata, and Sr. Mary Ignatius. Sr. Mary Philomena is returning to Ann Arbor and will teach school at one of their academies next year. In her place, we have Sr. Mary Gabriel coming back to us. Sr. Mary Gabriel will be teaching 5th grade Science and Math for us next year. We are thrilled she will be here in Buda again!

Noticias del Escritorio de la DirectoraEl sábado pasado, treinta y un estudiantes de nuestra escuela hicieron
su Primera Comunión. Sus maestras, la hermana Maria Ignacio y la Sra. Heather Vallilee hicieron un maravilloso trabajo preparando a los niños para este Sacramento tan especial, y se les agradece. También un agradeci-miento a Cathy Green y las cuatro hermanas por proporcionar la música en la Misa de esa mañana. Gracias también al Padre Kirby por hacer la Misa de Primera Comunión tan especial.
Los estudiantes del 8vo grado fueron a un retiro diocesano sobre “liderazgo” el sábado pasado. Los estudiantes tuvieron un día fabuloso y regresaron listos para terminar el año escolar. Cinco de los ocho estudi-antes del 8vo grado aplicaron y han sido aceptados en la escuela católica secundaria de San Juan Diego para su primer año. Estamos muy orgul-losos de todos ellos.
Hemos recibido noticias sobre nuestras hermanas para el año escolar 2016-2017. Tres de los cuatro actualmente con nosotros vuelven a Santa Cruz: Sor Ave Maria, Sor Anunciata y Sor Maria Ignacio. Sor Maria Filomena regresará a Ann Arbor y enseñará en una de esas academias el año próximo. En su lugar, tenemos a Sor Maria Gabriel, quien regresa a nosotros. Sor Maria Gabriel ensenará ciencia y matemáticas del 5to grado el año que viene. ¡Estamos encantados de que estará aquí en Buda otra vez!

Bingo Report (04/24/16) - A very nice crowd of 96 players enjoyed our bingo games last Sunday and they took home $2,019.00 in prizes won. The bingo games netted a very good profit of $967.30 and our concessions took in $318.25 for a wonderful total income of $1,285.55. A big thank you to the following KC’s who operated the bingo games: Joe Collins, Eric Martinez, Lee Verver, Bob Buras, John Rosales, Philip Ortiz, Steve Anderson, David Rodriguez and Fred Sotelo. We also thank our super concession crew consisting of: Raul & Thelma Martinez, Kayla Govea, Alfredo Govea Jr., Luis Gonzalez, Rick Deleon and Evangelina Ginn. A special thank you to Teresa Williams for providing the delicious cake for our players to enjoy. Of course, we are always grateful for the patronage and support from our regular players and parishioners. The jackpot number will be 57 numbers this week. We look forward to seeing you Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Father Joseph Deane Hall.
