SWIM PRACTICE

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO SWIM PRACTICE? Male: Jammer or Speedo.(No Baggy Beach Shorts) Female: One Piece Suit.(No 2 Piece Suits) Water bottle, towel, goggles.


WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO DRY LAND? Water bottle and healthy snacks. Proper physical education clothing and sneakers.

WHAT DOES DRY LAND CONSIST OF? Video Analysis Physical Education Stations

SWIM LEAGUES

THE SWIM TEAM PARTICIPATES IN 2 DIFFERENT LEAGUES. YANKEE CLUSTER & USA SWIMMING

All YMCA swimmers will be members of USA Swimming. All swimmers will be required to participate in both USA and YMCA meets.

Must wear team suit and team swim cap to all swim meets.

What to pack at swim meets:WatersHealthy Snacks: Fruits, vegetables, granola bars,

pastas, breads…2 TowelsThe Team Warm Ups or sweat pants and sweat shirts. (Decks are cold)Possibly a fold out chair


SWIM LEAGUES

YMCA LEAGUE: YANKEE CLUSTER LEAGUE

4 Dual Meets located all over CT. All Dual Meet entries are Free. Dual Meets are on Saturdays. The YMCA Invitational swim meet entries fees

will be paid by the family. Championships will be paid for by the YMCA and

Volunteer Fund.


SWIM LEAGUES

NE YMCA CHAMPIONSHIP OR YMCA NATIONALS:

To participate swimmers must qualify. PLEASE, NEVER PUT PRESSURE ON YOUR

CHILDREN TO QUALIFY. If enough swimmers in a particular age group

qualify, coach Teddy will put together a relay. NE Champs is @ Harvard University Pool. YMCA Short Course Nationals is @ Greensboro,

NC.


SWIM LEAGUES

USA LEAGUE: USA SWIMMING

Registration Fee = $61 (1 year) 1 event costs = $6 (Per Race) 3 events = $18 per session(3 Races) 10 USA swim meets. (Choose any 6 or more) 3 Championships: Regionals, AGC, Seniors. $200.00 will cover minimum USA Requirement:

(Registration, 6 meets, 1 championship) Deadline for payment: Friday, October 5th. Checks made out to:

USA OPT IN SYSTEM:

All USA opt ins must be completed by the deadline: Friday, September 28th.

There will be a list of all the swim meets we are attending this season.

Please choose a minimum of 6 USA swim meets to participate in.

You will have a chance to opt out of USA swim meets which must be done before the opt out deadline.

There will be a swim meet sign up sheet included in your handout and available online.


YMCA OPT IN SYSTEM

VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT

Parent Volunteers make this team run! We hope that everyone will enjoy helping!

Each family is asked to earn 12 volunteer points by March 1st, 2013.

If your family earns the necessary volunteer points by March 1st, 2013, they will be added to the priority registration list for the next season.


MISCELLANEOUS

AWARDS:• You will find all awards in a bin clearly market: Swim Team

Awards. All awards will be placed alphabetically. Please go to the front desk of the Fairfield Y. The bin is located underneath the fax machine across from the copier.

EMAIL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER:• Please go the front desk of the Fairfield Y and confirm that your

phone number and email address on file is correct. The email address that you give at registration will be our primary communication source.

CANCELLATIONS/ANNOUNCEMENTS:• All cancelations due to thunder or pool contamination will be

posted on the team web site and emailed. • All changes involving swim meets will be posted on the web

site.
