FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Taylor Y provides youth, adults and families with demonstrated need the opportunity to join the YMCA via a scholarship program. This program is supported through contributions to our annual WE BUILD PEOPLE CAMPAIGN. Scholarship funds are awarded to those in need based on available resources.

Our WE BUILD PEOPLE CAMPAIGN Financial assistance is made possible thanks to the generosity of YMCA members, local businesses and the community. Because of these gifts, we are able to adhere to our mission of turning no one away based on the inability to pay. This year, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Taylor Family YMCA so that we may continue honoring our mission and strengthening our community.

Structured to offer one-on-one quality time, the programs feature activities such as campouts, hayrides and Pine Derby car races. Once a month, each Circle will meet at a member’s house or school to do an activity with their child. Several Circles make up an “Expedition” which will have its own special events. We have two “Expeditions” that make up our “Federation.” The Princess Expedition is for dads and daughters in K-5th and Guides Expedition is for dads and sons K-5th.

AIMS OF PROGRAMS: To be clean in body and pure in spirit To be friend with my dad/daughter/son To love the sacred circle of my family To listen while others speak To love my neighbor as myself To respect the tradition and beliefs of all people To seek and preserve the beauty of Our Creator’s work in forest, field and stream

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Global Services

Founded in 1844 in London, England, the Y has grown into one of the largest volunteer organizations in the world, serving more than 45-million people in 120 countries. Ys in the US have played a key role in the growth and strength of the global organization and continue to partner with other Ys worldwide to address critical social issues. From welcoming newcomers to the US to helping prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia, Ys have the strength, experience and commitment to bring about positive change.

YMCA World Service

Since 1889, World Service has raised awareness of and financial support for the powerful work the global Y is doing every day, delivering life-changing programs that help people thrive and reach their full potential. Specifically, the Prairie Valley Family Y has a partnership with the YMCA of Honduras and supports them in their work improving youth rights. Ask us how you can help support this worthy cause.

Global Education

The Y helps people develop cultural competencies and key skills to collaborate with their peers around the world. From global curriculum in camping and afterschool programs to international service-learning opportunities and partnerships, the Y gives people the knowledge, experience and confidence to successfully interact in an increasingly globalized society.

Newcomer/Immigrant Engagement

The Y was created to help young people navigate in a new city far from family, friends and the comforts of home. This premise has extended throughout our history. Welcoming and engaging newcomers continues today with Ys across the country offering people the assistance they need to better transition into new communities.

Through services such as refugee settlement and adult education classes like English as a Second Language, the Y helps people to be self-reliant, productive and connected.

As an interconnected global network, the Y has the resources and solutions to build bridges at home and abroad to make our changing communities better and stronger moving forward.

Volunteerism and Giving The generosity of others is at the core of our existence.

There is no other volunteer organization quite like the Y. That’s because in 10,000 communities across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise but deliver lasting personal and social change.

As the nation’s leading non-profit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y provides kids, adults, families and communities with vital support and opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood.

Giving Back We are always looking for volunteers to serve in the following capacities: New Member Buddy Youth Sports Coach Child Watch Attendant Special Event Planning Office Assistance Maintenance Board of Directors

YMCA Annual Giving The Y works to nurture potential in children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being, give back and support our neighbors. Every day, we work tirelessly to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. No child, family or adult is turned away. This past year alone, the Taylor Family Y provided over $100,000 in financial assistance to more than 300 families. When you give to the Y, you help strengthen our community and move us all forward. Rest assured, your gift – whatever you can give – will make a meaningful impact in your very own community. Please consider making a gift this year. Endowment Information TThhee HHeerriittaaggee CClluubb is a special group of men and women who believe in the Christian purpose and traditions of the YMCA and want to ensure this heritage is continued for future generations through their gifts and commitments to the YMCA Endowment Fund. Please contact Rick Reigner at Prairie Valley Family YMCA for more information.
