The assemblies this week have been focussed on Remembrance, students were reminded about the symbolism and significance of the poppy, as well as the way we can all pay our

respect through the minute of silence, that was observed in school on Friday.

“Lest we forget” Centenary Remembrance Day Concert – Sunday 11 November

Sixth Form Open Evening – Thursday 15 November, 6:30pm The Sixth Form Open Evening is on Thursday 15 November, from 6.30-9pm. All our year 11 students

and their parents/carers are warmly invited to experience subject presentations, talk to staff and students, tour the facilities as well as hear a talk from the Executive Headteacher and Head of Sixth

form. The Sixth Form is the first real opportunity for students to have free choice in what they study. We highly recommend attending the Open Evening, so students can receive the right support and guidance in making their informed decision. “It’s a Wonderful Life” – Tickets Still on Sale

A few tickets are still available for the school play “It’s a Wonderful Life”, on sale in the Main Hall during break and lunchtime (see poster at the end of this bulletin).

PTA Raffle We need your help…..the annual PTA raffle is an important fundraiser for the school and we are very grateful to all the parents and carers who buy tickets and donate prizes. If you are able to donate a raffle prize, it would really help the PTA. We would be grateful if you could drop any donations at school reception. Friday 30 November - Christmas Dinner Dance

(Masonic Hall, Harrogate) A special Christmas event to look forward to. Get your glad rags on for a night that includes a fizz reception, 3 course dinner and dancing till late. Built by the Masons for the Right Honourable, Earl of Harewood KC, this beautiful building is ours for the evening. Taking place in the atmospheric ballroom, there are a limited number of tickets at £35 each. Buy your tickets here.

Saturday 2nd February – Burns Night

We are delighted to see the return of a favourite school social evening. Tickets will be available after half term. The evening promises to be an excellent occasion of fun, food and frolics. Supported by the PTA this is a special event for

the PE Dept to enable them to raise money to fund portable floodlights; this in turn will enable practices to continue outside in the dark nights and help ease the strain on overpopulated indoor facilities and the Astro.
