Year 7 – Mrs Stonach

Attendance improved again last week for year 7 pupils which is great to see. The form with the best

attendance was 7W with a total attendance of 97.5% - that’s a difficult target for everyone else to beat next

week!

MFL star of the week last week was awarded to Ayden Turner– well done you!

Madisyn Williamson was awarded the Literacy award this week, as nominated by the Maths department! It

was recognised that Madisyn has shown outstanding skills in teamwork and confidence – well done!

Also a very well done to Chloe Ramsey, Alice Biran and Alicia Billington who played in the U14 hockey

team last week and beat Sacred Heart 3-0. Fantastic effort!

The sporting stars of the week were awarded to Callum Howe, Carlo Micu, Summer Jordan and Henry

Overton great stuff you 4.

Year 8 – Mrs Lees Year 8 students have had a very busy week! During lesson visits this week I have seen students working hard towards their English assessments, making crepes, learning first aid, discussing Macbeth and tackling some complex graphs in Geography. A group of ‘Year 8 Fundraisers’ took up the challenge of organising some additional Comic Relief fundraising events and we held two competitions – ‘Guess the teacher’s baby photo’ and ‘How many shirts is Mr Robinson wearing?’ – both of which certainly raised a smile or two! Please do look out for our photographs in the local press. Achievement – Year 8 have worked hard to achieve a total of 6430 points this week, staggering! The top 10 Achievers are names below. Attendance - If you feel you and your child would benefit from support with attendance please telephone to make an appointment to see me, or email to [email protected]. Please ensure all absence is supported with a written note and medical documentation where possible. Uniform – Please can you support your son/daughter to wear correct uniform at all times, most students are always well presented and wear their uniform with pride but there are always a small number of uniform issues and parents will be contacted and asked to bring correct uniform into school for these students.

Year 10 – Mr Waring

Attendance continues to improve in Year 10 this week and top form class goes to 10R with a figure of

99.6%. 10G finished in fourth place last week, but have shown a lot of improvement to sweep aside all the

other form classes to claim second place with an impressive 97.5% figure so a special well done go to

them. Showing that if all students in a form class pull together and try their best to get in, success can be

achieved.

Year 10 managed to collect a total of 4485 positive achievement points last week, slightly down but a

great effort nonetheless. Remember, if you work well, don’t be scared to ask for positive points every member of staff has a large budget to be claimed by all every week. .

We have no less than 3 super star students vying for top spot this week and they are;

Daniel Pereira 10K

Danila Vilkovs 10A

Karelyn Hall 10D

Last week I complained how it was always female students who came out as top achievers and

challenged the lads to try harder. So it was especially pleasing to see 2 boys in the limelight.

Congratulations go to form class 10A for achieving the most positive points last week with 675 but as you

can see from the full results below, it was a close run thing 10K in second place on 670. Well done all who

achieved points.

Year 10 language star this week goes to Gabriel Deacon-Mendez and our super star sports stars of the

week go to Lacy Baker and the Year 10 rugby squad.

Lots going on around school including a celebration of KES Arts week on the 23rd March and a house

talent show in aid of Comic Relief on the 24th March.

Good luck to the Under 14 Rugby squad who play their County final on 23rd March, it would be a great

achievement if you could match the Year 10 squad and bring home yet another County trophy….Good luck lads!

I have the privilege of escorting a group of students to Poland to visit the Auschwitz prison camp over the

coming few days so will not be in school Friday 24th or Monday 27th. But if you do need to speak to

somebody sooner, feel free to call school and ask for Dr Tadikonda.

Year 11 – Mrs Wright

I have messages for year 11 from Mr Waring & Mrs Stonach that there is now only 2 days left to order

hoodies. The final date for the last orders is Tuesday 28th March. No orders after that date will be able to

be accepted as the final numbers will have been sent to the printing company. Order forms and swatches

are available at both offices and completed order forms are to be taken to Mr Waring.

Prom tickets are on sale and will be being sold until May half term. These are £25. Vivo’s can be used against the price of the ticket and Mrs Gill in the finance office/reception will be able to help with the order

of these if necessary. The Prom committee has been doing an amazing job of raising money through

charity events. The latest has been a bake sale this week.

Last week 156 year 11 students gained 100% attendance. This is great although it would be great if we

could make it over 200 one week! Well done 11G who gained 97.3% attendance closely followed by 11T

at 95.1%.

This week’s assembly focus was Comic Relief and why we raise money for homeless and starving children both in the United Kingdom and overseas. Comic Relief first began in 1985, unfortunately I

remember it well but thought perhaps the students all being 90’s babies would not. I began with a brief history of why Comic Relief began. The assembly finished with some of the top 10 comedy sketches from

Comic Relief over the years, which went down very well. Also, some Year 11 students had baked Red

Nose gingerbread men to sell at the end of assembly to raise money for this worthy cause. Well done to

them.

Tuesday 28th March is the great ‘Beard Shave-Off’. At long last sufficient money has been raised to see

Mr Hogger have his beard shaved off in aid of raising money for the Year 11 Prom. I can report that Mr

Hogger’s beard is now longer than the hair on his head! There are a lot of students and staff looking

forward to this event.

Well done to the following 10 students who gained the most achievement points last week.

Meghan Martin-Lewis Adonia Ganea Agnieszka Maciak Megan Fox Jennifer Metodieva Madog Hendey Gintare Tuomaite Lauren Manning Ieva Beleckyte Tamsin Barnes

**Revision notices** Year 11 Art and Photography Exam - extra catch up days on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th April (first week off the Easter holiday). Enrichment programme

House news Friday saw the House talent contest, a non competitive event in support of comic relief. Each house was given a 10 minute slot to show us their talent, and they certainly did! Coming events: Senior Badminton/Inters Rugby – 31st March April Junior Dodgeball – 18th April Inters Dodgeball – 21st April PSHE Work continues on our current topics, these are: Year 7 - Emergency Aid Year 8 - Cigarettes and alcohol Year 9 - Assertive not agressive Year 10 - Power and abuse Year 11 - Sex and relationship education Assembly theme (SMSC) Next week's assemblies will focus on the modern British values of rules and laws. You may want to discuss this topic further with your son and daughter. There have been so many amazing events this week. Our academy really is a great place to be. Francophonie day On Tuesday we served a French Breakfast to over 120 students who all took part in a French quiz to celebrate all things French. We were overwhelmed with students and could have served another 100 breakfasts I am sure! Students - make sure you get to these events early! Arts Evening Over 25 students performed at our first Arts Evening showcase. The Art display was wonderful and the performers were amazing. The evening was a really good showcase of the work our arts departments do. Thanks to all the students who performed and all of the parents who supported. I'd also like to thanks Mrs Buckland, Mrs Nichols, Ms Ritson, Miss Taylor and everyone in the art department, as well as Mr Wheeler and the Blast team for making it such a success. Diploma Day There were so many amazing things happening on Friday it really is hard to know where to start! We had a range of outside speakers including; a speedway racer, the police and fire services with a crashed car, guide dogs (with their owners) and Norwich football club as well as some brilliant work going on in classrooms. Comic relief Friday was also Comic relief which we supported with a non uniform day, a range of charity activities at break, including guessing how many shirts Mr Robinson was wearing and the Talent show after school. Total raised to be announced next week. A great week all round!
