I look forward to welcoming everyone in the coming days. Ms Nicole Mayhew Principal CURRENT SCHOOLS’ GUIDELINES

The Service NSW COVID safe check-in is required for visitors to the school, complimenting existing school visitor sign-

in processes, including the external visitors to the school site form. Visitors signing in at the front desk should self-

serve using the COVID safe check-in tool as displayed in the poster. Parents and carers who are only dropping off

and picking up students do not need to check in using the Service NSW QR code.

The department are working with Service NSW to provide all schools with a web form so that visitors without a

smartphone, or without mobile reception, can check-in at the Service NSW COVID Safe check-in page via an iPad or

other computer device. Visitors should continue to use the school’s existing sign in process for COVID-19. Look out

for an update next week.

Parents and carers of Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students may enter the school grounds to drop off and pick up

their children from Monday – Wednesday this week. Year 1 and 2 may be collected from the grass area near Kiss and

Ride, Kindergarten from their classrooms. From Thursday onwards Kindergarten parents and carers should wait

outside the gate near the office and your children will be brought to you. Year 1 and 2 parents and carers should

wait outside the Kiss and Ride gate. Year 3-6 should enter and leave the school grounds unaccompanied. They should

leave via the Page Street gate unless other arrangements have been made, such as they go to Kiss and Ride or collect

a sibling and leave with them.

Further information is available here:

https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families

Students should be at school unless:

• they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition and the expected timeframe

• they are currently unwell. In accordance with advice from NSW Health parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. NSW Health has requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics. Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school. Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test will not be permitted to return to school for a 10-day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school. Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19. COVID-19 testing for students with complex health or disability may be challenging. In these situations, schools will ask the parent or carer to have their child assessed by their medical practitioner. Where a medical practitioner determines that a COVID-19 test is not required, documentation must be provided to the school to confirm that the

Website: [email protected] Email: [email protected] Page 3

student does not have symptoms that warrant a COVID-19 test. The certificate must also indicate that the student is able to return to school.

2021 STUDENT TEXTBOOK ORDERS

Online orders have now closed for 2021 student textbook packs. Please do NOT pay via the school payments system (POP). Payment can now be made on the sale day this Thursday 4 February by returning cash and the attached form on page 7 & 8. If paying with cash please send correct money as change will NOT be available on the day and please remember to return the form as well. Textbook packs will be distributed at school on Thursday to all students who have paid. Spare textbook payment envelopes can be obtained from the office.

PSSA TRIALS

PSSA Trials for softball, league tag and AFL will be held simultaneously tomorrow Tuesday 2 February and Thursday 4

February during school hours for students in Years 3-6. Students who wish to trial for these sports can wear their

sport uniform to school on these days.

UNIFORM SHOP – TUESDAYS FORTNIGHTLY

Please note the uniform shop will be changing to Tuesdays this year. Our lovely parent volunteers have returned to

a busy start to the year and are ready for face to face sales from tomorrow Tuesday 2 February and then fortnightly.

It would help if parents can arrive for face to face sales with their Order Form prepared to save time. However you

can still place an order online direct to [email protected] . Order forms must be used for all purchases and

emailed directly to [email protected] .

Please note there is a new Uniform Order Form and Sizing Chart which now includes adult sizes and can be found

on our website under Supporting our Students P&C, at the school office or use this link: https://pagewood-

p.schools.nsw.gov.au/supporting-our-students/parents--carers-and-the-community/uniform-shop.html

Please write your child/ren’s name on their hat, jacket and every piece of clothing so we can return it to them if lost.

SPEED LIMITS AND PARKING AROUND OUR SCHOOL

Parents need to be mindful that there are children crossing roads at school dropoff and pickup times. Please stick to

the 40km speed limit and do not do U-turns in school zones as this puts children at risk. Please see pages 12-14 for

parking and school zone information.

CANTEEN

We are happy to announce that we will be offering our full menu in 2021, and extending our days of service to four

days, Tuesday through to Friday. Please note, the cut off time for online orders will be 8.30am from now on, this is

to assist our staff to ensure orders are prepared on time for your children.

From all of us at Anthony Catering

Pagewood Public School P&C Association

Membership Interest Information

The Pagewood Public School P&C (Parent’s and Citizen’s) Association is a not-for-profit organisation which is

established to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into

close co-operation, to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and

welfare of the students.

PPS P&C Association meets at 7pm online on Zoom and/or in the School Library on the first Monday of every month

during the school term. Each meeting is announced in the school newsletter and an agenda is published. A range of

topics are discussed, including:

• Updates from the Principal

• Fundraising initiatives such as Market Carnival

• Father’s Day/Mother’s Day stalls (and finding volunteers to run them!)

• School programs & allocation of P&C funds towards school programs

• Special morning teas or events

• Uniform Shop - run onsite by the P&C

The meetings also provide a forum for parents to raise questions and respectfully make suggestions about the

school.

Annual membership is $1 and entitles you to be involved in the decision making of PPS P&C Association. When you

become a financial member, you agree to follow the Constitution, by-laws, Code of Conduct and sub-committee

rules as adopted by the PPS P&C Association, copies of these materials are available on request to the P&C email

address below. You are recognised as a financial member of the Pagewood Public School P&C Association after the

close of the meeting before which you submitted your payment.

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM, held in March) the voluntary executive positions of President, Vice President,

Secretary and Treasurer are elected. You must have joined at a previous meeting to be eligible to vote at the AGM

or stand for an executive position.

At various times during the year the School may call a merit selection panel for the purpose of employing a teacher

or administrative staff. The P&C is invited to provide a representative to these panels. In this situation a P&C

financial member will be elected by the P&C Association to join the panel.

An active P&C is at the heart of a great school, and we strongly encourage parents to get involved at Pagewood

Public School. When you support the P&C, you support improvements for the school, the teachers and most

importantly, your children.

If you are interested in becoming a member please complete the form below and email it to
