Catholic Schools
Staff members at Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic schools will gather for “Cultivating Positive School Culture,” the Fourth Annual Teacher and Administrator Conference, on Tuesday, August 8.
Breakout sessions will be tailored for teachers, administrators, directors of religious education, pastors, and business managers. In her keynote presentation, “Catholic Schools: From Maintenance to Vitality,” Sister John Mary Fleming, OP, executive director of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will address the role of teachers in accomplishing the goals of a Catholic education, and how, through their faith, teachers support their schools as an academic community of faith.
Gifts to the Catholic Services Appeal allow the archdiocesan Office for Catholic Schools to help our Catholic schools provide their students with exceptional academic training while continuing the teaching mission of Jesus Christ. The office offers resources for teachers and principals, parents and students, and alumni.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
RCIA is the process by which Catholics invite those who are interested in becoming
Catholic to join the community in a journey of faith.
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS
Baptized in another faith and now desires to be Catholic
Has never been baptized and is seeking information about becoming Catholic
Is engaged or married to a Catholic and would like to understand more about the Catholic faith
A baptized Catholic, but has not received religious formation or celebrated the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation
God calls each of us in His own time and His own way. RCIA is a process to help people with questions determine their path to grow in faith. There is NEVER pressure to make a commitment. All are welcome. Call the Faith Formation office at either parish or email [email protected] or [email protected] for more information.
Adoration is an opportunity to be with Jesus in a quiet and prayerful setting. Please prayerfully consider spending some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. There is also praise and worship offered from 7 –8 pm.
You can offer this time spent with Jesus for your loved ones health, healing, or journey.

There is no mail call question this
week. The following is the message
on a flyer from St. Michael
Catholic Church in Roscommon,
Michigan. This was brought to us by a parishioner who visited St Michael recently.
TO THE PARENTS OF OUR YOUNG
CHILDREN, MAY WE SUGGEST …
Relax! God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are welcome.
Consider sitting towards the front where it is easier for your little ones to see and hear what’s going on at the altar. They tire seeing the backs of others’ heads.
Quietly explain the parts of the Mass and the actions of the priest, altar servers, choir, etc.
Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you.
If you have to leave Mass with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, “let the children
come to me.”
Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship.
TO THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH
The presence of children is a gift to the Church and they are a reminder that our parish is growing. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents.
Please email you questions to: [email protected]
OR
Call: 586-727-5215 Ex 116
Operation Olive Branch
Operation Olive Branch will begin calling on our parishioners that we have not
seen in a while to invite them back to church.
Please join us at Holy Family on Saturday, August 19th.
Mass at 9:00 am
Visiting 10:00 -11:30 am
Dismiss 12 noon
We who are evangelized are drawn to the corporal works of mercy.
Benefits of Donating
• It feels great to donate!
• You get free juice and delicious cookies.
• It's something you can spare – most people have blood to spare... yet, there is still not enough to go around.
• You will help ensure blood is on the shelf when needed – most people don't think they'll ever need blood, but many do.
• You will be someone's hero – in fact, you could help save more than one life with just one donation.
DID YOU KNOW...
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs
blood? That approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.?
ONE donation has the potential to save as
many as three lives?
Give blood on August 13th and join us in our act of Corporal Works of Mercy, “Comforting the sick.” For your convenience you can schedule your appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor code: holyfamilymemphis or by calling Linda Mastej at 810-
305-6333.
