AutomationOn the one hand, automation is the energy transfer to motors, devices and tools. On the other hand,

hybrid complex solutions that transfer energy, data as well as media to the consumer mean high

    technical requirements.

    Production engineering

    4

    Control cables

Reliable and cost-effective energy supply by cables specified according tointernational approvals such as UL, cUL and CSA are required. Therefore,

PVC sheathed cables are preferably employed.

As a solution to the accurate and trouble-free transfer of data and

sensor signals with highest frequencies and minimal amplitude, Kroschu

supplies special cables with optimised high-frequency properties.

    Halogen-free solutions for energy chains

Energy and data have to be transferred securely and trouble-free. Thedevelopment of halogen-free cables for application in energy chains is one

example of partnership with our customers. International approvals

allow the worldwide employment of these designs.

RoboticsEnergy is conducted throughout the entire robot and as far as the last

moving axle. Often, cables are laid within the robot chassis. Hence,

replacement would be very complicated and costly. Gliding properties and

abrasion resistance of the employed cable play a major role. Of course,

Kroschu guarantees 100 % reliability of its cables by using the latest

materials such as fluorine components or halogen-free thermoplastic ela-

    stomers (TPE).

Data must be transferred up to the tools, e.g. to power screwdrivers. The exact torque and the route are reported back. The arising flood of

data requires maximal data security at high transfer frequencies. These

properties are guaranteed in our cables by special twisting and screening

    techniques.

Via teach-in panels the programming of robots is carried out. Our special

cables withstand the rough environmental conditions prevailing in the

industry. These cable designs are characterised by robust construction in

combination with high data security, flexibility and optimised weight.

Industrial toolsManual industrial tools and assembly systems do not only require flexibility

and easy handling of the cable but also great resistance to mechanical and

    chemical stress.

Sensors and data transferSensors record data and states. The recorded data are collected and transferred via data cables.

    Production engineering

    6

    Industrial sensors

They use various physical values for state and position detection. The

rough industrial environment with often very high mechanical andchemical stress requires adapted cable designs. Due to its good resistance

to cooling and lubricating materials, flame-resistant PUR is the preferred

    sheathing material.

Fieldbus and data applicationsCurrently, the most important cross-linking procedures for industrial appli-

cations are AS-Interface, Interbus, Profibus and DeviceNet each with

particular requirements specifications. Kroschu cables reliably fulfil the

electrical specifications up to high-frequency ranges, also under extremeenvironmental conditions and in permanent dynamic use. Adjusted screen-

ing models guarantee the necessary EMC tightness against disturbances.

Safety sensorsInductive sensors for the monitoring state and position in critical areas

require an absolutely constant performance capacity throughout the entire

lifetime. They are employed in environments with a high concentration

of solvents or for monitoring ventilation systems in the event of fire.

Independent from thermal or chemical disturbing influences, the utilised

materials must ensure the functioning of the cables.

    Food and beverage

The regular contact with aggressive detergents and disinfectants poses a

challenge to all materials. Kroschu cables resist this stress, such as e.g.

temperature sensors for the quality control in the food production.

Hybrid cablesOptimised customer-specific cables combine all required elements from

energy transfer and signal and data transfer to pneumatic and hydraulic

hoses. Optimal lifetime at small dimensions is achieved by application-

    tailored properties.

Environmentally friendlyand renewable energies of the future

    8

    Wind power

Wind power stations increasingly ensure the environmentally friendly

basic electrical supply. Halogen-free control and data cables make

a crucial contribution to the safe and effective operation of these

power stations. Wind turbines are adjusted to the current wind

direction. The head rotates into one direction up to 10 times.

    Control cables

Control cables are the veins and nerve fibres of the wind turbine. The

safe transfer to the rotating head at great hanging lengths and torsional

stress poses a challenge. Kroschu cables offer an optimal combination as

they are halogen-free, flame-resistant and flexible. Of course, such plants

    are recyclable and environmentally friendly.

    Sensor cables

Eyes and ears of the wind turbine are sensors. They record statesand changes. The fields of application are extremely versatile. Optimal

functionality is guaranteed by Kroschu cables exactly tailored to the

    specific task.

    Solar

Within the next few years, the share of solar energy in the generation of

power will considerably rise, also in Europe. In future, private single and

multiple family houses will cover substantial parts of their energy demand

by using solar panels. Likewise, signal systems, weather stations and much

more will meet their energy demands via solar panels.

Only cross-linked insulation materials in Kroschuphotovoltaic cables KROTHERM Solar

Why cross-linked insulation materials? The temperature limit of thermoplastic

materials is their melting point. By cross-linking the materials, the short-

term operating temperature range is extended and the material does not

    melt in case of overheating.

Peroxidically cross-linked special polyolefin is employed for core insulation

and cable sheath in the KROTHERM Solar series. The advantage of this

cross-linking is the realisation of a high degree of cross-linking with avery homogeneous matrix of molecular chains in a very reliable production

process. This procedure avoids the melting of insulation materials on extreme

overload in case of a short-circuit. This prevents the development of fires.

Extremely high-quality conductor, insulation, shielding and sheathing materials are required for thesesensitive applications. A certification of bio-compatibility according to DIN EN ISO 10993 is required

for in-vitro applications. A prerequisite is the resistance to specific chemicals and disinfectants. We

meet these demands and offer individual solutions to medical device and sensor technology.

    Medical engineering

    Miniature cable

Miniaturised cables provide a trouble-free transfer of smallest signals (ECG,EEG, SPO2) with high flexibility and robustness. Conductor cross-sections

from 0.02 mm2 and skin-compatible insulation materials which are sterilis-

    able and autoclavable are utilised.

    Cables for equipment technology

Kroschu solutions range from spiral cables for mobile devices to compact

hybrid cables with high reversed bending and torsional strength for applica-

tion in X-ray machines and ultrasound technology. The high demands set onelectromagnetic compatibility are realised by optimised screening models.

Different types of optical elements with mono-mode, multi-mode and polymer

optical fibres (POF) are employed in special, sensitive and clinical areas (OR,

    intensive care).

with valid standards (AES/EBV, DMX and DVI). Optimal transmission properties are combined with specially designed

screening variations to fulfil the maximum requirements of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Amongst other things,

foam-skin insulation made of polyethylene or polypropylene as well as halogen-free sheathing materials are utilised.

    Audio/Video

    Video cables

Customer specific designs are produced for analogue and digital transferin standardised 75 Ohm technology with a high precision of impedance

to avoid reflections. The variety ranges from single elements to complex

    hybrid cables.

    Audio cables

We develop and produce drum reeling modulation cables for outside

broadcasts as well as cables for studio and stage technology. The transfer

parameters are adapted to the specific fields of application. Mainly sym-metrically constructed, pairwise screened cables with an additional overall

    screen are used.

Low-loss loudspeaker cables used in high-end applications fulfil highest

requirements set on rendition quality. Of course, highly qualitative and

flexible materials are employed. We are pleased to realise our customers

expectations to specific optics with individual and exclusive details.
