Oshore Cables Product Overview

Umbilicals

The challenges and potential o the oshore indus-

try continue to grow apace. At the same time, our

customers, e. g. manuacturers oROVs or winches,

have very special requirements. As a consequence,

tailor-made solutions are needed in most cases.

As the recognized experts in oshore cables, NSW

can oer these solutions by meeting the stringentindustry requirements. Developed on a case-by-

case basis, our cables are reliable and cost-eective

even under extreme conditions. Over the years,

NSW has adapted new materials such as special

metal alloys, high-density cross-linked polymers,

thermoplastics and synthetic yarn to improve the

elasticity and operational reliability o its cables.

Netsounder Cables

One o our special cable applications is in the

fshing industry. The deep-sea fshing industry o

the present day utilizes advanced technologies

because the smallest ailures can have expensive

repercussions. The widely recognized cable experts

rom NSW oer durable, reliable and cost-eective

solutions with quality and adaptability based onmany years o experience.

The frst electroacoustic netsounders were intro-

duced in 1965. NSW quickly recognized the po-

tential o a suitable coaxial cable to transmit data

rom the netsounders to the monitor screens

aboard the trawlers. The cable had to ensure reli-

able data transmission and, at the same time, be

strong enough to prevent loss o the netsounder.

At that time, the required load at ailure wasapproximately 12 kN. Over the years, the require-

ments have become more stringent and to-

days cables can withstand orces up to 70 kN.
