Elsewedy Cables was established in 1984 and is considered as one of the oldest and most successful industrial

and trading business groups across the Middle East and Africa in the elds of energ, plastics and contracting.Elsewed Cables is specialized mainl in Wires, Cables, Telecom Solutions, Electrical Products, Turnke Projects,and recentl Energ Generation. The groups turnover has been rapidl rising during the past few ears to reach$ 1.5 billion in 2007, also, the production capacit is the second highest one in the region, with 125000 tons/annum, expecting 212000 tons/annum in 2008.

Although the compan began as an Egptian local manufacturer, it has branched out regionall andinternationall to include 23 production facilities for cables and electrical products that are located in 12 contries(Egpt, Sudan, Algeria, Zambia, Ghana, Sria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Slovenia, India and Malasia), and it currentlexport its wide range of high qualit and safe products to more than 110 countries worldwide. Additionall, thegroups outstanding human potential, which is more than 5000 emploees, and its solid nancial postioin, alongwith the strong geographical prsensce, have heavil contributed to the groups success and prosperit.

To strengthen its position world wide, and following the corporate strateg, on the one hand, Elsewed Cablesfull acquired b the end of 2007 ISKRAEMECO, a leader manufacturer of electrometers and currentl the third

largest plaer in the European market and the seventh largest globall; on the other hand, Elsewed Cables isinvolved with 74% ownership jointl with Glencore International in a 850 $US million project for the construction ofa copper smelter to be located in Egpt.

The group hasobtained qualit certicates from the most reputable laboratories, among them: ISO 90012000-, ISO 14001, QS9000, KEMA.a

In the industrial sector, we currentl suppl approximatel 56% of Egpts global market share of power cables,

telecommunication cables, and lighting industries. In the export sector, as part of a worldwide marketing plan,Elsewed Cables has branches throughout Africa, Middle East, Gulf Area, Europe, and Asia, and consistentlshowing dramatic increases; Egpt enjos an important number of trade agreements with most of those countries(EU Agreement, Arab Free Trade Agreement, COMESA Agreement). Nowadas, Elsewed Cables is exportingapproximatel 60% of its total turnover (export value of 550 $US million in 2006, 1 $US billion in 2007). For that reason,the group is concentrating efforts and making investments to target market segments and countries world widewith strong growth potential, such as Europe, Asia, or Latin America, although strengthen its leadership in Africaand Middle East.

GROUP HISTORy1938 Elsewed famil started its business as a trader in electrical equipment.

1960 The business was developed further b turning into a distributor for the onl cables manufacturing atthat time.

1984 Based on their experience in that field, the famil decided to build Egpts first private sector cablesfactor ARAB CABLES.

1986 Arab Cables started production as Egpts and the Middle Easts private sector cables supplier.

1986-96 Arab Cables capacit quadruples from around 6.000 tons of copper cables in 1986 to 30.000tons in 1996.

1996 Elsewed famil established their second factor, EGyTECH CABLES, which is the most advancedcables production facilit in the Middle East with an annual capacit of 30.000 tons of coppercables and 15.000 tons of aluminum cables.

Elsewed famil established their first plant for producing PVC compounds and master batch forcables insulation SEDPLAST considered as major component for the production of cables.

1997 Elsewed famil established UNITED INDUSTRIES, the compan consists of three different factoriesspecialized in the production of special cables (first factor in Egpt), winding wires & fiber glasspoles.

Elsewed famil established ELASTIMOLD EGyPT, as a joint venture with ELastimold, a unit ofThomas & Betts, one of the leading companies worldwide in the field of cables accessories, toproduce power cable joints and Modular Terminators.

1998 Elsewed famil established UNITED METALS CO. Egpts first factor to produce High GradeCopper Rods, the main component in the production of cables conductors. The factor isconsidered as the largest copper rod factor in the Middle East region.

Elsewed famil established Elsewed SEDCO, as the first and onl factor in Africa and the

Middle East producing cable accessories.

2002 Elsewedy Cables established their first cables factory outside Egypt GIAD Elsewedy Cablesin partnership with the Sudanese compan Giad for the production of power cables, over headconductors and telephone cables.

2003 Elsewed Cables further enhances their facilities outside Egpt b establishing the SUDANESEEGyPTAION ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES CO. in partnership with Sudanese electricit authorit.SUDATRAF (specialized in manufacturing transformers, electrical panels & cables joint andterminators).

2004 Together Elsewed Cables Group & Italsmea compan (Ital) established a joint venture for themanufactor of explosion proof electrical equipment. Italsmea Elsewed co.

2005 Elsewed Cables established the Srias latest cables factor Elsewed Cables SyRIA specialized

in power cables manufacturing up to 400 kV, reling on the growth in the area of: Sria, Lebanon,Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Palestine and all Arab countries near b.

2006 Elsewed Cables penetrated Ghana, b establishing Elsewed ELECTRIC-GHANA the factor isspecialized in Fiber Glass Road Lighting Poles manufacturing.

2007 Elsewed Cables established two new factories:

Elsewed Cables SAUDI ARABIA specialized in wires and cables.

Elsewed ELECTRIC SyRIA specialized in transformers.

Acquisition of ISKRAEMECO specialized in energ measurement & management sstems.

2008 Elsewed Cables established two new factories:

Elsewed Cables QATAR: specialized in power cables Low & Medium.
