JL 1040 grey cast iron (lamellar graphite cast iron)

Lamellar graphite cast iron to DIN 1691 is the most widely usedcast material for handling municipal sewage, waste water andsludges as well as stormwater and surface water. It is suitablefor neutral fluids which are only slightly aggressive and causelittle wear. The ph-value should be ≥ 6.5, the sandcontent ≤ 0.5 g/l.

Nodular cast iron JS 1030 (nodular graphite cast iron)

Its ductile structure, mechanical properties and wear resistancemake this nodular cast iron to EN 1561 a suitable propellermaterial. Also suitable for handling digestion substrate.

Glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin

The high-performance composite material consists of glassfibre reinforced epoxy resin, a metal hub insert and aprotective gel coating which is resistant to abrasion andchemicals.

Coating and preservation

Product benefits

▪ Two bi-directional mechanical seals with oil reservoir filledwith ecologically acceptable oil provide double safety

▪ Perfectly protected by absolutely water-tight cable glandprotecting the motor against moisture

▪ Motor monitored by temperature sensors to prevent itfrom overheating

▪ Leakage chamber between oil chamber and gear unit forhigh reliability

▪ Easy to install

Amaprop 1000

▪ Little wear, high break resistance and long service life dueto propeller made of nodular cast iron

Amaprop 2500

▪ Absolutely break-proof due to propeller blades made ofglass fibre reinforced epoxy resin with metal hub insertand ceramic coating.

Acceptance tests / Warranties

▪ Functional testEvery submersible mixer is subjected to a functional test toKSB standard ZN 56525.

▪ Quality is assured by means of an audited and certifiedquality assurance system to DIN EN ISO 9001.

▪ Special acceptance tests are available on request.

Warranty information

Our warranty is based on and exclusively applies to yourspecifications as documented in the data sheet of thesubmersible mixer, and covers the relevant physical properties.Any warranty claims beyond the aforementioned aspects, aswell as any claims resulting from an excessive solids content inthe plant, the formation of floating blankets as well as failureto produce a specific gas yield, shall be excluded. The correctpositioning of the submersible mixers is crucial for the overallfunction of the equipment. KSB's warranty obligations shallnot cover any damage that may occur as a result of incorrectmixer positioning, i. e. installing the mixer in a position notexpressly approved by KSB. In addition, low-flow areas (flowseparation) resulting from the tank geometry shall not becovered by our warranty. Furthermore, we shall not assumeany liability if our submersible mixers are used in patentedprocesses and/or in case of protected rights of third parties.

Selection information

▪ The fluid properties specified in the "Selection ofSubmersible Mixers" data sheet (⇨ Page 32) provide thebasis for selection and positioning of the equipment.

▪ Good mixing results and safe and reliable operation of thesubmersible mixers essentially depend on the position ofthe mixers in the tank and relative to each other. It istherefore imperative to position the submersible mixers asshown in KSB’s general arrangement drawing. KSB shallnot be held responsible for any damage resulting frommixer positions not expressly approved by KSB.

▪ The minimum and maximum submergence indicated inthe data sheet of the submersible mixer must be compliedwith. The propeller must not be operated outside thefluid. Air-entraining vortices must be avoided. Always uselevel control equipment which trips the submersible mixerif the fill level drops below the minimum operating level.

▪ For servicing the submersible mixers, access openings andappropriate means of removal must be provided, so thatthe mixers can be lifted out of the filled tank at any time. For this purpose, the minimum dimensions for removingthe submersible mixers must be observed.

▪ If the submersible mixer trips due to excessivetemperature, check the motor housing for insulatingsubstrate deposits and clean with appropriate equipment(e. g. high-pressure cleaner) as required. Consult KSB, ifnecessary.

▪ For higher fill levels, the guide rails of the Amaprop 1000installation accessories must be secured against vibrationsby means of a middle support fitted on site.

▪ In order to prevent any damage caused by the propeller orlayers of floating sludge, if any, cable supports must beused for routing the power cable properly, i.e. withoutexcessive slack.

Information on frequency inverter operation

▪ All submersible mixers from KSB are suitable for frequencyinverter operation.

▪ The permissible control range is 30-50 Hz.

▪ In addition to any capacity reserves required for hydraulicreasons, a motor power reserve of 5 % must be providedwhen mixers are operated via frequency inverters.

Minimum level of fluid handled

h2

Ø D

h1

WT

Minimum level of fluid handled

The submersible mixer is operational when the fluid level is notlower than dimension WT . This minimum level of the fluidhandled must also be ensured during automatic operation.

A submergence h2 from the top propeller tip to the substratesurface must be ensured to reliably prevent the formation ofair-entraining vortices. Air-entraining vortices will cause roughrunning and damage to mixers and installation parts. Theformation of air-entraining vortices can be checked throughthe sight glasses fitted in the tank wall (⇨ Page 6) . Thesituation can be remedied by increasing the fill level or

adjusting the installation level of the mixer, if possible (forAmaprop 1000 mixers operated suspended from liftingequipment).

Guide rails

The guide rail length required depends on the fluid level.Guide rails are supplied in standard lengths of 3 m or 6 m. Freeguide rail ends should not protrude more than 0.5 m above thefluid surface. If the guide rail is to be fastened to the roofingstructure, the guide rail length must be selected accordingly. The guide rails must be shortened at the site as required.

For larger installation depths, the guide rails must be extendedby adding guide rail extensions (3 m or 6 m). Welding andsubsequent treatment must be performed at the site inaccordance with the relevant regulations. To allow smoothlifting and lowering of the submersible mixers, the weld seamat the outside of the guide rail must be ground down to amax. projection of 0.5 mm.
