Dear Oyster Bay High School Students:
As you read through this booklet, please think about the clubs and
activities that are of interest to you.
Oyster Bay High School offers an array of extracurricular
activities to help make your high school years most enjoyable while
promoting active leadership and cultivating friendships. From 7th
grade to senior year, our students participate in a myriad of
activities where the main purpose is to make you feel “at
home.”
The teachers who advise our clubs put forth a great amount of time
and effort to best serve the needs of the student body. If you
happen to have an interest that is not represented by one of our
many clubs or activities, please do not hesitate to speak with us
about founding a new club as we are continuously seeking ways to
improve students’ connection to our school.
We hope you enjoy reading this booklet and use it as a reference to
understand the mission and goals of the different organizations.
Please do not hesitate to speak with us or any of our advisors. So,
get involved and become a part of the school through one of our
many student clubs!
Have a great year!
Ms. Sharon Lasher Principal

Breaking Borders

Meeting Days & Times: Based on schedules of all school
districts. Advanced notice will be given.
Frequency: Monthly
Grades: 7 – 12
Breaking Borders is a club in which we foster an environment where
students can learn how to initiate
and navigate conversations about culture. Additionally, students
are encouraged to make the change
they wish to see in the world particularly in the area of social
injustices, by collaborating with students
from other school districts. In the public school setting, there
are very few opportunities to engage in
discourse about the racial (and other cultural) disparities that
exist across Long Island. Breaking Borders
is an opportunity to interrogate our fears of talking about race
(and other characteristics that make up
one’s culture) while learning about the in-school (and
out-of-school) experiences of people different
from the self.
