MUSAC EDGE Parent Access on Phone App On Tuesday and Wednesday, I attended the Dunedin EDGE conference. EDGE is our student management system; the system we use for student enrolment records, medical, attendance, finance, assessment and reporting. In one session, I learnt that the parent portal for EDGE is also available as a phone app. At enrolment, and in past newsletters, we have shared information about how to get parent / caregiver access to EDGE online. This is reprinted in today’s newsletter. You can now get exactly the same access to your child’s details through the EDGE app. Find the free MUSAC EDGE app in the Apple or Google store and upload. You will be asked to load a four- digit pin, and then enter the login details you set up for the online portal. (Do this first if you have not already accessed EDGE.) The app is intuitive and you will have mobile access to all the information available through the caregiver / parent portal. It is a useful tool. Keeping Ourselves Safe and Cyber Safety Meetings A reminder of the two meetings planned for Wednesday 27 th June. 2.00 pm Keeping Ourselves Safe Meeting this is a meeting for those parents who are unable to attend the evening meeting. It will be an overview of the KOS programme with an opportunity to view the resources we use. 7.00 pm Cyber Safety Night Pauline Spence, Netsafe NZ, will talk about cyber safety and what we can do as parents, and as a school community, to keep our children safe online. Students in our three senior rooms (Room 5, 6, and 7), are also invited to attend with their parents. The KOS resources will be on display at this meeting and there will a short summary of the material presented at 2.00 pm. The paper and School Stream return forms are repeated for this newsletter. MUSAC Edge Parent / Caregiver Portal Outram School uses a cloud based student management system (SMS) called MUSAC Edge. This system allows us to open up a parent / caregiver portal in Edge where you can access particular information from the SMS. Those parents who have an email recorded on the school SMS will be able to access the parent portal. The URL is https://parent.musac.school.nz/

Those with a Facebook, Google, Google+, Yahoo, or Windows Live account can login by clicking the appropriate icon on the left. Otherwise, enter your email and click ‘Forgot Password?’. You will receive an emailed, temporary password for your first login. (Check ‘junk’ or ‘spam’ if this does not arrive.)

Once logged in you will be able to access these details…

Home Page

School Announcements – another place we will leave important school messages such as snow closures and cancellations.

Your details – in future, we will use this to check all details are correct for the current year. If details are incorrect please let us know.

Under your child’s name

Summary of the enrolment details for your child including medical and all parent / caregiver and emergency contacts.

Attendance records for the current year.

Student reports – will have archived copies of your child’s school reports.

School Payments – An account summary with a list of current unpaid items. (We are hoping to open payment options in future).

The login is secure and only open to you; your child’s information cannot be accessed by anybody else. Please let us know if you strike a problem or can’t access the portal. Some parents may need to be issued temporary passwords through the school. If you have not provided the school with an email, and would like access to the portal, please let Carolyn know your email address.

Thank you to those who dropped off icecream containers.

I now have enough.

Little Einstein Quiz

The Student Council have organised a sponsored quiz called “The Little Einstein Quiz” to raise money for some playground equipment. Quiz packs have been sent home with all students, and the idea is that over the next two weeks students learn the answers to these general knowledge questions as part of their homework. Quiz Day will happen at school on Monday 2nd July. Younger students will be orally checked, they do not need to be able to write their answers down. Thank you to our parent community for supporting the Student Council.
