Having bettered the qualifying standard in one or more events, we have a large team of 25 athletes heading to the Otago Primary School Athletics on Tuesday. The Otago event involves a large number of schools from all over the wider Otago region and is a big ‘step up’ in competition. Good luck to all our participating students. Board of Trustees Report

Hi Everyone

Thanks to everyone who have offered their congratulations on my appointment to board chair. I'm looking forward to getting started in the role and I would again like to thank Craig for his work and service to the board to date.

For those of you that don't know me I have 3 children, Caitlin and Emily who now attend Otago Girls and Will in year 4 at Outram. My husband Michael and I have a sheep and beef farm on the Maungatuas and I work part time at Connect South doing book keeping and support work for non profits. If you see me out and about please don't hesitate to say hello. This is a busy time of year with lots of events coming up in the lead up to Christmas, Athletics day was a great day and as always Outram competed strongly, it's great to see everyone out there participating. Congratulations and good luck to the athletes heading to the Otago champs next week. I also attended the Friends of the School AGM on Monday and I was impressed by Sonya and her team of enthusiastic parents. FOS is doing a great job and contributes significantly to the life of the school. The forecast is looking good for the Horse Trek this Sunday and I am sure it will be a great event. At this time of the year the board starts looking forward to next year, looking at budgets and planning for 2018. The change in Government and their commitment to removing national standards will mean some changes for next year, but until there are official directives from the government things will continue as normal. We will keep you informed of changes as we hear.

Have a good week

Annette

SCHOOL NOTICES

CHROMEBOOK BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE A reminder that if you are planning on purchasing a Chromebook for your senior team student that the next set up dates areThursday 23 November and then Friday 8th December so we would appreciate having them purchased at Noel Leemings before this date. We cannot guarantee that ones purchased after December 8th will be set up in time for Christmas presents. Remember that it is vital that the machines are NOT set up at home first if the child is going to be using it at school. They must be set up at school under our system, and then you can set up your wi-fi etc after this. If you are wishing to have a chat about Chromebooks, our Bring Your Own Device scheme or the Noel Leemings packages, please do come and see me or email me to have a chat. Pool keys are now available at the school office. The cost is $65 per family, with a refund of $10 when the key is returned at the end of the season. The season will run until late March/early April 2018. There is a key-holder's contract to be read and signed by an adult responsible for each family.
