Throughout the year, the NFL works with its nonprofit partners to fund programs and services that support service members, veterans and their families. In November, the NFL and its 32 teams rally fans to celebrate America’s heroes, their families and a shared love of football. OUR PARTNERS TEAMING UP TO SUPPORT OUR NATION’S HEROES The NFL works with its military nonprofit partners to Honor, Empower and Connect our nation’s service members and has donated $26+ million to military-support organizations through Salute to Service. NFL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS THE NFL’S 32 TEAMS DEDICATE A HOME GAME TO SALUTE TO SERVICE IN NOVEMBER AND HONOR SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS AT HOME AND ABROAD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. COMMITMENT TO MILITARY SERVICE ` 50+ year partnership with the NFL ` 260+ NFL players and coaches have participated in USO tours across 25 countries to thank 95,000 service members ` 200+ USO centers in 9 countries and U.S. Embassies offer free game access to service members “It’s great when you can see these families and soldiers smile just because they see us. But little do they know they’re really the one’s putting the smile on our faces. I can’t thank the USO enough for having us out here.” – Panthers DE Mario Addison (2018 USO Tour) ` NFL has honored the legacy of Pat Tillman by providing 580+ service members, veterans and military spouses with academic scholarships through The Pat Tillman Foundation, representing the spirit of how he lived ` 100+ scholars attend the annual leadership summit each year “My story is a testament to the American dream and what this country stands for.” – Ali Nayyef, US Army and 2018 Tillman Scholar ` With the NFL’s support, 150,000+ veterans and families have accessed free mental and physical health services and 800+ wounded warriors have attended health expos ` Project Odyssey retreat hosted 750+ veterans with PTSD and combat stress ` 3,500+ TAPS families of fallen heroes participated in NFL remembrance events ` 127 survivors traveled to London last year as part of the TAPS-NFL UK Experience to connect families ` Bob Woodruff was inspired to improve veterans’ livelihoods after he suffered a brain injury while reporting on the Iraq war ` $2 million grant from NFL to BWF invests in veteran service organizations ` BWF recently awarded 7 veteran service organizations a grant through the NFL contribution USO Tour to Iraq During a USO Tour this summer, Atlanta Falcons team members visited and thanked U.S. troops in Iraq. Row of Honor The Carolina Panthers’ stadium is home to the first “Row of Honor.” These 8 seats pay tribute to the U.S. military branches; 7 seats are reserved for veterans and service members while a blacked-out POW/ MIA chair remains empty. Career Development As part of the inaugural FedEx Football Fellowship, FedEx and the USO teamed up to award four military veterans with a 12-week fellowship with the Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins. NFL players, coaches and team owners have served in the Armed Forces. World War II soldiers with pro football connections were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
