These were the first words spoken, when on June 25, 1981, in the tiny village of Medjugorje, located in Bosnia-Herzegovina, six Croatian children reported seeing an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Now, twenty-fouryears later, Our Lady is still reportedly appearing, giving a message of hope and peace to a troubled world.

More than thirty million people from all over the world have now visited Medjugorje, and even Pope Paul IIand the Roman Catholic Church have acknowledged that this has become the biggest religious event of our time.

“I am the Blessed Virgin Mary,I have come to tell the world

On June 24, 1981, a miraculous eventoccurred in the small town of Medjugorje, informer Yugoslavia.

A Lady appeared to two children, Ivankaand Mirjana. The next day the Lady appearedto six children. She was a stranger, but farlovelier and wondrous than anyone had everseen. A woman with an aura of bright lightaccompanying Her, and with a crown oftwelve stars around Her head. She has blueeyes, dark hair, and was dressed in gray with awhite veil. The children reported that Shehas a spirit of love as no one else, more beauti-ful than any other woman ever, with gentle-ness and favor and grace. They could see hervery clearly. She was indescribably beautiful,with a soft and gentle voice like beautifulmusic. She was standing on a cloud. The chil-dren said it was a joy tolook at Her and theirhearts filled with love.She appears as Motherand as Friend, sometimesvery sad, sometimes veryhappy, but always withthe greatest of love forHer children... all thechildren of Earth.

On the following daythey approached Her andasked who She was, andtheir incredible storybegan with this reply, “Iam the Blessed VirginMary... I have come toconvert and reconcile theworld. People must recon-cile themselves with Godand with each other.”And from this answer thechildren knew that Shereally was Our BlessedMother, and that theseapparitions were not justfor themselves but for allmankind.

As the children’s fami-lies were still somewhatafraid and in doubt, theyhad Vicka sprinkle HolyWater on the apparition.As she did this, Vickasaid, “If you really are OurLady, then stay with us. Ifnot, leave us!” Our Ladysmiled sweetly to Vicka.

That apparition led to daily apparitions.Today, the Blessed Mother, the Mother ofJesus, continues to appear to these visionariesbringing messages for all the world to hear.

During the apparitions, the visionaries arein a trance-like state. They can see theBlessed Mother. They hear Her. They talkwith Her. They can even touch Her. No oneelse in the room sees anything unusual exceptfor the behavior of the young people them-selves. The visionaries appear to be talking,but their voices cannot be heard. Theirmouths and facial expressions change but noone can hear them. When the apparition isover, the visionaries all raise their eyes and

heads at the same time and then one will say,“She’s gone!” They immediately return totheir normal state, although they are very,very happy and in deep thought.

She is Our Lady - the Queen of Peace.After twenty-four years of appearing daily andbringing messages, she continues to appearbut states that with the conclusion of theseapparitions at Medjugorje, she will no longerappear anywhere on earth.

She continues to bring messages from God,messages of family love, world peace, conver-sion, love of our neighbors, and gentleness.She invites us to reconciliation, repentance,prayer, sanctity of life, the sacraments, andfasting as the means to achieve Heaven. Aswell, She brings secrets for this world to hear

if we choose to continueon a destructive path.These messages arerepeated during eachapparition. In essence,they are a call back tofaith, a call for a return toGod.

She wants everyone inthe whole world, all Herchildren, to be saved.Peace through conver-sion, prayer and faith. Shewants families to praytogether... especially topray for the success of theplan of Her Son for thisworld.

She has said thatprayer can stop wars, canalter the course of natureitself. She said that onegreat world catastrophehas already been avertedbecause of the prayer andfaithfulness of so many.

This sounds to be anincredible story. After all,why haven’t we heard ofthis if it was indeed real orif it wasn’t a practicaljoke?

The truth is, however,that these events are real.These apparitions werewritten about in “LifeMagazine”, “Reader’s

Digest”, “Time”, “Newsweek”, “Wall StreetJournal”, “National Geographic”, and innumerous papers throughout the world. Avideo narrated by Martin Sheen tells thestory, and scores of books, video and audiotapes are available.

At last estimate, over thirty million peoplehave pilgrimaged to Medjugorje to visit withthe visionaries, pray, and hear Our Mother’smessages. Many thousands have seen “signs”such as the dance of the sun as was seen atHer other apparitions at Fatima and Lourdes;or have experienced the turning of their rosa-ries to a gold color; or have seen the appear-ances of crosses and images at Medjugorje.Many have had healings and miraculous

physical cures.... documented cures from mul-tiple sclerosis, drug abuse, chronic pain, etc.Most importantly, however, are the spiritualmiracles. Almost all who have gone to visitMedjugorje have had aprofound transformationin their faith. They arrivewith troubles and burdensand questions of doubt,and they leave enheart-ened, with purpose andlove, a deepening of faith,and a closer relationshipwith God.

Finally, the events ofMedjugorje are bestknown within the scien-tific community.Numerous scientists docu-mented results of physicaltests with sophisticatedmedical instruments while the children werein the state of ecstasy. These tests were of asensory nature. Such tests were unavailable forpast apparitions, such as Fatima or Lourdes,but have provided indisputable scientific evi-dence of a phenomenon at Medjugorje defy-ing human explanation. They prove wellbeyond any doubt, that the children are nei-ther lying, nor experiencing any pathologicalor psychotic condition. They are, in fact,experiencing phenomena that defy scientificexplanation... it cannot be explained by medi-cal science.

Unfortunately, because of the currentpolitical climate in America together with thefact that the Church will not pronounce onthe supernaturality of these apparitions untilthey have ceased, these apparitions and thesubsequent miracles are minimized or ignoredby both the media as wellas greater society. Thethousands of internationalprayer groups that havesprung up, have done sofrom a grass-roots, almostunderground movement.But perhaps that is theway it should be if thisworld is to be saved; per-haps it is destined for thefaithful to meet the chal-lenge and burden of aworld which is becomingincreasingly evil.

In fact, America is now reported as havingthe greatest incidence of violence of anyindustrialized nation. This is seen as anincreasing trend, with no end in sight. The20th century has seen a level of violence andbloodshed unequaled in all history. Becausethe world is sinking into a great pool ofdepravity and sin, the Blessed Mother - theQueen of Peace has come to guide us home.

The people of America thirst for peace,they yearn for spiritual guidance... but theystill don’t understand. They don’t know howor who to turn to for achieving peace. OurLady’s Messages, are simple, they present acall to return to God. We all need to hearthese messages with our hearts... and we need

to hear the immediacy in that call.

For the first time in contemporary society,there is proof of the existence of God. Thereis physical evidence; an encounter of the most

holy kind. This evi-dence, as presented inthe apparitions of theBlessed Mother, hasdeepened the faith ofmany millions of believ-ers, and has converted asmany non-believers tothe existence of God andthe principles ofChristianity. How manytimes do you hear, “Ofcourse I would believe...if only I had proof thatGod exists?” Well,Medjugorje is that proof,and every day many

thousands more find the Spirit of Love, andestablish or deepen their relationship withGod.

The visionaries (Ivanka Ivankovic, age 15;Mirjana Dragicevic, age 16; Vicka Ivankovic,age 17; Ivan Dragicevic, age 16; MariaPavlovic, age 16; and Jakov Colo, age 10 atthe time the apparitions first began) sufferedpolitical persecution at the hands of the com-munists, personal humiliation and embarrass-ment from the unbelievers, and were ostra-cized for their involvement. But they per-sisted, because they knew that the apparitionswere not just for themselves but were for allmankind. The fruits of their faith are onlynow becoming obvious. In the United Statesalone, there are now over 200 Marian PeaceCenters devoted to our Blessed Mother, inlarge part due to the messages at Medjugorje.

There are thousands ofprayer groups for youthand adults that havestarted across the worldin honor of Our Lady ofMedjugorje. And literallymillions of people haveexperienced physical orspiritual healings andfound closer contactwith God as a result.

Mary comes backtoday in Medjugorje as akind and loving Mother,

pleading with Her children... with ALL Herchildren... to simply do what Jesus says. If welisten and respond to Her gentle requests,then the Lord through the Holy Spirit willbestow grace and mercy and love and works ofpeace in our individual hearts, in our families,in our communities, and throughout theentire world. As with many of the Marian apparitionsthroughout the world, physical and spiritualhealings have often accompanied the appari-tions as a tender blessing of God’s love andmercy to a faithful people, and as a sign ofwhat devotion to God will naturally yield:good...through faith, prayer and acts of char-ity. There have been literally many hundredsof physical healings at Medjugorje, and manywere well documented with medical certifi-cates. There have been so many, in fact, thateven the most ardent disbeliever now under-stands Our Mother’s messages - that withfaith, prayer and fasting, MIRACLES DOHAPPEN!

News of the apparitions had spread rapidlysince that first day on June 24, 1981, andwithin a week there were more people thanever on Mt. Podbrdo –– the hill of appari-tions. On the sixth day, one family had heardand come from a town a long way away. Mr.and Mrs. Setka had brought their three chil-dren to pray for a miracle. Their three year oldson Danijel could not talk or walk. Theyasked the visionaries if they would ask OurLady to cure Danijel.

The light flashed and the children ran tothe Madonna. They were joined by thou-sands of people who said the rosary, sanghymns and said the seven Medjugorje prayers.“Dear Madonna,” the children begged, “Willthis little boy Danijel, ever be able to speak?Please make a miracle so that everyone willbelieve us. These people love you very muchDear Madonna!”

Our Lady looked at tiny Danijel and smiled.“Let them pray and firmly believe that he willbe healed. Go in the peace of God.”

“She has gone,” said the children.Jakov ran to Danijel’s parents. “You must

pray and firmly believe. If you do, Danijel willbe cured.”

The parents thanked the children andknelt and prayed with the people. On theirway home, the Setka family stopped at a res-taurant to eat. “Give me a drink,” saidDanijel. His parents stared in amazement. Hehad never spoken before. It was truly a mira-cle. Gradually Danijel Setka learned how towalk and talk. The paralysis completely lefthim. This was the first of many known heal-ings at Medjugorje.

There is the story of Ireland’s David Parkes,a famous Irish singer, also an atheist, who wassuffering immense pain from Chron’s Disease.He had ten surgeries, the last lasting elevenhours, and was informed that the doctorscould no longer be of help, it would only be amatter of time until he died. He went toMedjugorje “on holiday”, but to placate hiswife he agreed to “a blessing.” He felt anincredible heat in his body, and fell uncon-scious for twenty minutes. He awoke, free ofall physical pain, and experiencing the great-est peace he had ever known. Althoughweak, he climbed to the top of Mt. Prodbro,

and asked the Blessed Mother to teach himhow to pray. David made a pact with theBlessed Mother that in gratitude for his greatblessings, he would record the pro-life song“Let Me Live.” If it saved even one unbornchild it would be worth everything. In May of1993, that song was sung at the NationalConcert Hall in Ireland, with 50,000 peoplein attendance, and was carried live overnational television, at the request of MotherTeresa of Calcutta, who had come to Ireland’sMarian Shrine to speak out for life. Shesmiled the whole time it was sung.

There was Kevin’s story, a child fromupstate New York who was critically ill fromseveral chronic conditions including seizuredisorder, chronic lung disease, immune defi-ciency, and neuromus-cular disorder. Kevinwas not expected tolive. The father wasaddicted to alcoholand drugs. The par-ents’ marriage was fal-ling apart, and theymight go monthswithout even speak-ing. In Medjugorje,they all embraced dur-ing Mass when theapparition of theBlessed Mother began,and only Jesus andMary knew of theintensity of theirprayers - to be a family- whole and in peaceonce again.

The three of them,child and mother andfather, had climbed Apparition Hill. Whenthe Blessed Mother arrived they could see thecross on top of the Hill glow. It was so brightthey stated they could feel the warmth flow-ing from it. As the glow faded, the rainsstopped and all on the hill realized that alltheir ponchos and clothing were completelydry. People began crying and pointing to thecross, and they all saw tiny silver stars, likesparklers, shooting off all around it. Everyoneimmediately knelt and began to pray.

Before falling asleep, Kevin told his parents,“I was cold and wanted to cry. Then I feltwarm and good. I felt Our Lady all aroundme, and I felt very warm.”

The next day at Mass Kevin had a seizurethat lasted several minutes. As the familybegan to board the bus to return, a womanfrom the pilgrimage came up to see littleKevin, excited about what happened to him.The woman stated that she saw Kevin lookup into the church statue of the BlessedMother, and speak to her and then fall asleepfor about three minutes. When asked, Kevinreplied to his parents that he had spoken toOur Lady and she had spoken to him, tellinghim to be good and promising that he’d feel

better soon.It was later that his parents realized that lit-

tle Kevin wasn’t experiencing a seizure, butthat it was his body quivering as the sicknessleft his body that day. The father has recov-ered from his drug dependency and is now aEucharistic Minister and Pastoral CareMinister, attending Mass on a daily basis aspossible. They have started a Cenacle meet-ing, and a prayer group, and most importantlynow, is their family prayer time. The family isclose and intimate once again, the doctorshave remarked on Kevin’s amazing improve-ment, and now with all the anger and hurtgone - they all feel extremely blessed and inGod’s great mercy and grace.

There is the story of Marie, of Rochester,who was diagnosed withMultiple Sclerosis. As herdisease progressed, shebegan living an increasinglyisolated life. She was toldthat nothing could be donemedically about the condi-tion. But while praying therosary one day, she noticedthat tiny gold hearts hadappeared on many of thebeads of the rosary. Thisand all that she had heardabout Medjugorje, piquedher curiosity, and she trav-eled to Medjugorje with hermother.

She attended mass at St.James Church. When Fr.Jozo concluded his talk andcalled upon the BlessedMother to intercede and to

heal the sick, something wonderful happededand Marie felt well again. She stepped intothe aisle and realized that God had cured her,because she had perfect balance again. Shefelt completely refreshed, and immediatelytold her mother that she had been cured.Suddenly a tremendous energy began to pourout of the left side of her body in waves, theside that had been most affected by theMuscular Sclerosis. The jerking movementcontinued on and off for about 15 to 20 min-utes. She has been completely healthy eversince, and all she can say today is, “Praise theLord for His great mercy on me.”

Perhaps the best known of the physicalmiracles is Rita Klaus, and extraordinary testi-mony of God’s unwavering love and mercy.Rita Klaus was confined to a wheelchair, withMultiple Sclerosis, and due to her deep devo-tion to God and the Blessed Mother, wasmiraculously healed. But there are so manymore.

• Susan suffered from Encephalomyelitisand was confined to a wheelchair, before hermiraculous healing in Medjugorje;

• An Asian woman was cured of cancer;• Sean, a five year old boy, was cured of

deafness;• Marie, who suffered from a compression

fracture of the seventh vertebra, was curedinstantly on August 8, 1983 (the most recentX-rays of her vertebral column show notraces of lesions);

• Diana was cured of blindness in her righteye, impairment of motor functioning (whichrendered both her upper and lower membersimpotent), total urinary incontinence, andmultiple sclerosis;• Matija, who was a paraplegic after astroke, was cured after she felt a strong cur-rent, like electricity, all through her bodywhen at St. James Church in Medjugorje;

• Antonija, a little girl two years old, wasbadly burned, and the doctor said she would-n’t be able to walk for a month and a half.Her parents went to the place of apparitionsand prayed for her, and that evening shebegan to walk, two days later the burnedareas were healed over, and she was healed;• Cvija had suffered for eleven years withdegenerative arthritis, but was cured afterpraying the seven Medjugorje prayers andwashing in water mixed with earth from theHill of Apparitions;• Dubravko went to Medjugorje and washealed of leukemia.

Hundreds of other cases have beenreported such as this, “I was an alcoholic. Inspite of my own efforts and many treatments,I couldn’t stop drinking. I stopped the dayafter going to Medjugorje.” ThroughMedjugorje, people have been cured ofchronic pain, of drug addiction and tobaccoaddiction, of phobias, tumors and diseases.

Besides all the physical healings, the spiri-tual healings are even more notable. Therewas the man who for seventeen years waswithout any sacraments or faith. He was acocaine addict who had planned the follow-ing week to kill his brother-in-law. For what-ever reason, a friend had given him a videoon Our Blessed Mother and Medjugorje. Hewatched it one Saturday morning anddropped to his knees and wept the entiretime. He decided to go to confession and rec-onciled his life with God, and today he is asaintly man and a daily communicant...afterseventeen years away from God’s grace.

It meant the healing of Mike B. and thehealing of 20 years of anger, bitterness andrage that he carried around with him. Itmeant the conversion of an inmate, Mike G.,and the strong faith and love that is winningthe hearts and souls of men in prison. And itmeans, literally, millions more of spiritualhealings and conversions, and of people find-ing joy through finding their way home.

The physical healings are a sign of thepower of faith and prayer, and the spiritualhealings - the grace and mercy, the relief of somuch pain and burden, are yet, even greatersigns for all of us of the love of God.

Medjugorje.Most interesting is the behavior

of the visionaries themselves, whichshows a sign of something super-natural happening. The visionariesalways fall to their knees at exactlythe same moment, look up andfocus on exactly the same spot, andstart their prayers at exactly thesame time in a most improbablemanner. It has been postulated thatwith such critical observation fromauthorities, such precise timing andbehavior could not possibly be con-ceived or efficiently replicated iffraudulent, even with much prac-tice and rehearsing. No, somethingis happening to all these children atprecisely the same instant and inthe same manner... somethingDivine.

SCIENTIFIC TESTS: Unlikeprevious apparitions where scien-tific tests did not exist, these vision-aries have all been subjected tosophisticated scientific tests toauthorize the validity of theirreports. These findings, well knownin the European scientific commu-nity, offer precise confirmation thatthe ecstasy of the young people inMedjugorje is neither dream norepilepsy, hallucination nor hysteria,nor catalepsy. They are not lying,nor is there anything pathologicalabout them. The neuro- psychiatric,medico-psychological, and somato-logical tests to which these youngpeople were subjected showed themto be absolutely normal and thatthere were no psycho-pathologicalindications. Additional tests includ-ing hypnosis shows that there wasno evidence of preconditioningevents either in the recent or moredistant past. Electrocardiogramsshow that ecstasy does not suppressnormal physiology but somehowtranscends it, and electro- encepha-lograms eliminated any possibilityof either epilepsy or individual orgroup hallucination. An electro-oculogram confirmed simultaneoussynchronizations of the eyes, con-firming objectivity of the appari-tion. Other tests of a sensorynature, also confirmed that in many

ways ordinary perception andresponse no longer functions -active eyeball activity ceases; thepupil no longer reacts to light; stim-uli from the auditory nerve reachneither the cortex nor conscious-ness of the subject; the visionariesperceive a very real, three dimen-sional person ‘whom they cantouch’; their faces are perfectly atpeace and relaxed, the entireappearance is one of happiness andcontentment - even Vicka’s sighsexpress this overjoyment in a mostcompelling manner; and while in

ecstasy, the children failed to feelseveral physical pains purposefullyinflicted (a needle prick hardenough to draw blood, a burningiron point, etc.)

No other visionary has ever beentested by such sophisticated means andto such elaborate extremes as thevisionaries of Medjugorje. Together,the scientific and medical tests in com-bination with the sightings and lumi-nary phenomena, in combination withthe physical and spiritual healings cer-tainly prove beyond doubt that DivineIntervention is occuring in this littletown in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

SIGNS AND MIRACLES FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE NO PROOF IS NECESSARY . . . FOR

THOSE WHO DON’T BELIEVE NO PROOF IS ENOUGH!

The Lord said, “Blessedare they who do not see,

but believe.” The messagesof Our Lady at Medjugorjeshould by themselves, besufficient enough to drawmen to conversion to God.But the signs and miracleswhich have been granted

in addition to the messageshave been so pronounced

and affirming of the realityof Our Blessed Mother,that atheists, agnostics,and people of all religiouspersuasion have now con-

verted to Catholicism.

Besides the physical and spiri-tual healings, there have beenmany other miraculous signs inMedjugorje since that first appari-tion in 1981. The speed at whichthe children ran up the rocky hill ofPodbrdo on June 25th was impossi-ble, yet many witnesses said it wastrue. Witnesses claim thatit was almost as if the chil-dren “floated” up the hill,on top of the rocks andboulders and over thethorn bushes instead ofthrough them. On thethird day of the appari-tions, a bright light wasseen throughout the wholearea, and people fromother villages and townscame to see what was hap-pening. Even governmentofficials confirmed thisfact.

August 2nd, 1981 wasthe first date of the miracleof the sun, dancing andspinning and the sunassumed the formation ofthe shape of hearts. Sincethat time this unusualoccurrence has happenedso often that it is almostexpected during any importantfeast day or special time. It hasbeen witnessed by thousands of vil-lagers and pilgrims alike, countlesstimes throughout the years. Thesun actually spins in the sky andgives off beautiful colors. Somepeople have seen the sun turn intoa heart, at other times people claimto have seen three circles of the sunthat interlock to represent the HolyTrinity, and at other times peoplehave seen the shape of the cross orthe spinning and moving of the sunacross the sky coming closer toearth and then returning to itsoriginal position (similar to themiracle of the sun at the Fatimaapparition - except at Medjugorje ithas happened many times).

On August 6th, 1981, the word“MIR”, which means peace inCroation, was seen in the sky overthe cross on Mt. Krizevac.

The luminary phenomena areanother incredible sign atMedjugorje. At times the cross onMt. Krizevac has turned into a pil-lar of light and some people haveseen the form of a woman standingin the center of the light. This phe-nomenon has also been seen by

many people on many differentoccasions. Our Lady told the chil-dren that she prays at the foot ofthe cross every day. On October28th, 1981 an unusual fire brokeout on the top of the hill, seen bythe police, villagers and the priests.It burned about fifteen minutes butwhen they reached the top of themountain to put the fire out, noth-ing could be found. There wasabsolutely no trace of a fire on thehill. Cameras have captured thesephenomena as well as the silhou-ette of Our Blessed Mother at othertimes.

And perhaps the most commonoccurrence is the changing of col-ors of rosaries. Hundreds of pilgrimshave attested to the fact that thelinks between the beads on theirrosary’s had changed color, from thetraditional silver to a gold color,while saying the rosary at or onbehalf of Our Mother at

“Dear Children, I am the Most BlessedVirgin Mary, I have come to tell the world thatGod exists... I have come because there aremany true believers here. I wish to be with youto convert and reconcile the whole world.” Onreturning to the village after the apparition,Marie saw the Blessed Mother again, in tears,near a cross with rainbow colors: “Peace,Peace, Peace! Be reconciled! Only Peace.Make your peace with God and among your-selves. For that, it is necessary to believe, topray, to fast, and to go to confession.”- June 26, 1981

Pray with your heartand in your prayer give yourselves entirely toJesus.” (August 11, 1984); “My Dear Children,Satan is strong. He wishes with all his strength todestroy my plans. Pray only, and do not stop doingit.” (January 14, 1985); “I ask you to conquerSatan. The arms to conquer him are fasting andprayers. Pray for peace, because Satan wants todestroy the little peace you have.” (June 25,1992); “Satan is strong and wishes not only todestroy human life, but also nature and the planeton which you live.” (January 25, 1991).

Satan appeared unexpectedly to Mirjana in1982 in her house, trying to convince her togive up and renounce the apparitions of OurBlessed Mother and promising her all the treas-ures of the world if she would. Mirjana rejectedSatan, and took Holy Water and made theSign of the Cross. Immediately Satan disap-peared, and the Blessed Mother arrived. Thenthe Blessed Mother gave her the followingmessage: “Excuse me for this, but you must realizethat Satan exists. One day he appeared before thethrone of God and asked permission to submit theChurch to a period of trial. God gave him permis-sion to try the Church for one century. This cen-tury is under the power of the devil, but when thesecrets confided to you come to pass, his power willbe destroyed. Even now he is beginning to lose hispower and has become aggressive. He is destroyingmarriages, creating divisions among priests, and isresponsible for obsessions and murder. You mustprotect yourselves against these things through fast-ing and prayer, especially community prayer.Carry blessed objects with you. Put them in yourhouse, and restore the use of holy water.”

HEAVEN, PURGATORY, HELL

The existence of heaven, purgatory and hellare attested to by the visionaries at Medjugorje.The six visionaries have all seen heaven. Theysaw another world and everyone there was injoy. The visionaries say it is a place of incredi-ble peace and happiness, with colors unlikeany colors on earth, and songs unlike any onearth. “You could see by their faces that they allhad the same peace,” stated Mirjana, “youcould see that these faces have everything.” Itwas so beautiful that “your heart stands stillwhen you look at it.”

Our Lady said that their happiness wasbecause God was with them. “It was really avery happy place, I could feel joy there. OurLady told us that all of these people had triedto live God’s will in their lives, had tried to liveas He would want them, and now their rewardwas that they were with Him forever. Theywere full of joy, and I felt my own heart full ofhappiness as I looked at them.”

The visionaries who did not ask to be sparedthe experience, were also shown purgatory andhell. When they saw purgatory, a place of puri-

fication obscured by an ash-gray mist, theBlessed Mother said, “Those people are waitingfor your prayers and sacrifices.” While thevisionaries saw no one there, they could hearcrying and moaning in the fog, and knockingas if to get out.

Mirjana was asked whether many people goto hell in this day and age. Mirjana responded,“I asked Her about that, and She said thattoday, most people go to purgatory, the nextgreatest go to hell, and only a few go directly toheaven.”

Mirjana describes purgatory as having differ-ent levels, some closer to hell and others higherand closer to heaven. Maria did not see anypeople in Purgatory, but could hear them cry-ing and asking us to pray for them. “Our Ladysaid that the suffering of these people wasbecause they wanted to go to Heaven, butcould not unless they had our prayers to assistthem. She said that when we pray for them, wehelped them toward Heaven. “I felt great sad-ness in Purgatory. They want to be with God,but it is not possible for them to be with Himbecause their sins are still on their souls. Theircries are not because they are in physical pain,but because they are in spiritual pain, wishingto be with God. Every day they spend inPurgatory they understand more the situationthey are in and the result of their own sins.And they learn the way to love God. Our Ladytold me a very beautiful thing too, that everySaturday she goes to Purgatory to take manysouls into Heaven, and there is great joy inHeaven when these souls meet with God.”

At Medjugorje the young visionaries werealso shown hell. They claim it was a horriblegreat sea of fire and suffering and despair, “likean ocean of raging flames,” Vicka recounted.“We could see people before they went intothe fire. Before they went in, they looked likenormal people. The more they are againstGod’s will, the deeper they enter into the fire,and the deeper they go, the more they rageagainst Him. When they come out of the fire,

they don’t have human shape anymore; theyare like grotesque animals, but unlike anythingon earth.” This vision of hell is very similar tothat given to the Fatima visionaries in 1917,and in visions given to popes and saintsthroughout history. The visionaries said thatthere are more people in Heaven than in Hell,but Our Lady told the visionaries, “Souls are fal-ling into Hell like snowflakes.” Maria says thatHell is a frightening place to see. “Our Ladyexplained that the people in Hell were thosewho wanted to go there, who choose Hellbecause they decided against God in theirlives. They decided for bad rather than forgood.” It is not God who sends us to Hell, sheexplained, it is a decision we reach for our-selves. Those people who go to Hell are thosewho choose to go there.

Maria says that she does not fear death.“Death is not a tragedy. It’s a joy to go to meetGod. Who could be afraid of spending eternitywith the person who loves us more than any-body has ever loved us?”

REGARDING MASS

Dear Children, God wants to make you Holy.And therefore, through me He is inviting you tosurrender. Let HOLY MASS BE YOUR LIFE!Understand that the Church is God’s Palace inwhich I gather you and want to show you the wayto God. Come and Pray...Churches deserverespect and are set apart as Holy because God,who became man, dwells in them day and night.(April 25, 1988).

At Mass we offer the highest worship toGod, we change into loving persons, andthrough Mass, we change our world into aworld of love. We meet and commune withGod and build a relationship of friendship withHim. But Our Lady recommends that we havecountless encounters with Him - at many,many Masses. Our Lady at Medjugorje recom-mended that we go to Mass daily if possible.Daily Mass has changed the lives of the peopleand the village of Medjugorje, and it can dothe same for us and our communities! Mary

says “Let Holy Mass be your life...it is the greatestprayer of God. You will never be able to under-stand its greatness. That is why you must be perfectand humble at Mass, and you should prepare your-selves there.”

REGARDING LOVE

Our Blessed Mother said, “Love your enemiesand bless them.” (June 22, 1983). She said thatwe should become an image of Jesus, not ofSatan, that conversion is easy for all who desireit, and that we can obtain victory over everysin with love. The great dragon, Satan, will bedefeated with love, the love of men for God,Jesus and Mary - the same love that They havefor us. The Blessed Mother said, “I am burningwith love for you. Obtain victory against every sin,overcome with love all the difficulties that come toyou. By love, turn everything into good that Satanwants to destroy and possess. With love, oneobtains everything... love first your own householdmembers. I want you to love all men with Mylove, both the good and the bad. Clean with loveevery part of your heart. Little children, bear every-thing bitter and difficult for the sake of Jesus Who islove.”

REGARDING PRAYER

Our Lady states again and again that prayeris the most powerful weapon we have. “Pray asmuch as possible and fast! You must persevere inprayer and fasting. I wish that the new year will bespent in prayer and penance. Persevere in prayerand sacrifice and I will protect you and hear yourprayers.” (December 31, 1982); Dear Children, Iagain ask you to pray for all the young people of theworld because they find themselves in a difficultsituation. You can help them with your love andprayers of the heart.” (1989); “Pray because youare in great temptation and danger because theworld and material goods lead you into slavery.Satan is active in this plan. I want to help each ofyou in prayer. I am interceding to my Son foryou.” (June 25, 1989); “I urge you to ask every-one to pray the Rosary. With the Rosary you willovercome all the troubles which Satan is trying toinflict on the Catholic Church. Let all priests praythe Rosary. Give time to the Rosary.”

REGARDING FAMILY

“Dear Children, I rejoice because of all of youwho are on the way of holiness and I beseech you,by your own testimony help those who do notknow how to live in holiness. Therefore, dear chil-dren, let your family be a place where holiness isborn. Help everyone to live in holiness, but espe-cially your own family.” (July 24, 1986); “DearChildren, in this time I call you to pray the Rosaryin your family. Pray more and pray the Rosary.Offer the Rosary for peace.” (August 14, 1992);Dear Children, tonight especially I would like toinvite all the parents in the world to find time fortheir children and family. May they offer love totheir children. May this love that they offer beparental and motherly love. Once again, dearchildren, I call you to family prayer. During one ofthe previous encounters your Mother asked you torenew family prayer. I ask that again tonight.”(July 31, 1989); “May all families consecratethemselves to the Sacred Heart each day. I am veryhappy when the entire family meets to pray eachmorning for half an hour.” (October 20, 1983).

THE SECRETS AND CHASTISEMENTS“MY CHILDREN PRAY! THE WORLD HAS BEEN DRAWN INTO A GREAT WHIRLPOOL. IT DOES NOTKNOW WHAT IT IS DOING. IT DOES NOT REALIZE IN WHAT SIN IT IS SINKING. THE WORLD IS

HANGING BY A THREAD... IT NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS SO THAT I CAN PULL IT OUT OF DANGER.”

The primary message of Medjugorjeis Conversion to God through faith,prayer, fasting, reconciliation andpeace. But this is not the onlymessage. There are other messages, infact, many of an extremely serious andgrave nature.

One such set of messages are theten secrets being revealed to each ofthe visionaries. This began in 1981and continues today.

“The majority of the secrets aregrave,” Mirjana said. They announcecalamities, stemming from the wagesof sin.

The first two secrets are warningsthat will come to the whole world, asproof that the Blessed Mother was inMedjugorje and in order to inviteconversion before it is too late. Theare dramatic and perhaps gravecatastrophes that occur upon the faceof the earth, yet, in great part arepositive in that they will encouragepeople to believe and to convert.

The third secret is a great sign.According to the seers, it will be onthe hill of apparitions, visible foreveryone to see. It will be visible,permanent and indestructible. It willbe a beautiful sign of God’s love.When Mirjana was told what the signwould be, she wept. It is a last chancefor conversion for the unbelievers. Thevisionaries know the date, and say thatthe believers do not need the sign.This sign also is a warning that time isvery short for conversion. For manywho wait for the sign, they say that itwill be too late. The Blessed Mothersaid that is why God is giving so muchtime for these apparitions, so that allmay come to conversion now. Shecan’t help those who don’t want tochange.

“When the sign appears, no onewill any longer doubt that God trulyexists.” Mirjana said. “But it will betoo late for many to convert. Theencounter with Divine reality will becatastrophic for those who have notalready turned toward God. But forthose who have done so, it will be atime of great joy.”

Little has been said about thefourth, fifth and sixth secrets, leadingto speculation that these secrets have

to do with the Church, the village ofMedjugorje or the visionariesthemselves.

The last four secrets, however, seemto constitute the great chastisements.When asked if mankind had enteredthe end times, or whether the BlessedMother had said anything about thesecond coming and the apocalypse,Mirjana told her inquirer, “That is partof the secrets. I would not like to talkabout it.” The visionaries are silent onany other parts of these secrets,although as Mirjana stated, they knowthe dates. Vicka cried upon learningthe ninth secret on April 22, 1986,and when Mirjana had seen hers shebegged the Blessed Mother to lessenthem!

The eighth secret is more seriousthan the seven before it. Mirjana saidthat every day she begged the BlessedMother to get it mitigated, and at lastthe Blessed Mother said that if she canget everyone to pray it might beaverted. But the ninth secret was evenworse, claims Mirjana, and the tenthis terrible and nothing can alter it. Itwill happen.

The ninth and tenth secrets areserious. They concern major and gravechastisements for the sins of the world.It has been revealed in these secretsthat punishment is inevitable, for wecannot expect the whole world toconvert. While these punishmentscannot be eliminated, they can begreatly diminished, however, by prayerand fasting today. In fact, Mirjana saysthat one of the evils that threatenedthe world (the seventh secret), hasbeen averted and eliminated due tothe prayer and fasting and response ofthe people so far. That is why theBlessed Mother continues toencourage prayer and fasting: “You

EDITOR’S NOTE: On June 25,1993, Ivanka went to her annualapparition in a joyful spirit, anticipatingher once-a-year meeting with Our Lady. Itis important to note that the war was in fullswing. The TV news broadcasted themost gruesome and terrible pictures of theatrocities. Yet it was during the apparitionof Our Lady, that Ivanka began to cry.After the apparition she was literallybeside herself with anguish. Sheimmediately ran to her room, almost inpanic and then from room to room. Herhusband followed, unable to console her inthat she was so distraught. She then ranoutside to the Church to pray, leaving herlittle girl and husband behind. Later shesaid Our Lady showed her horrible,horrible pictures of the future. KnowingBosnia was already in a gruesome war,gives us a measuring rod with which tojudge how much more horrible will be thehell that Lucifer himself will set up or isalready setting up upon the earth. Somethink that Our Lady has never said thesethings, but again, was it not She who onMarch 25, 1993, said, “...Satan wantswar, wants lack of peace, wants todestroy all which is good...”

As of this writing, Marija, Vicka, andIvan have all received nine secrets eachand continue to receive daily apparitions.Jakov, Mirjana and Ivanka have receivedall ten secrets from Our Lady and nolonger receive daily apparitions. Mirjananow sees Our Lady only on her birthdayand in times of great need. Otherwise, shejust prays with Our Mother on the 2nd ofeach month for the conversion of theunbelievers “because they have no ideawhat is in store for them if they do notconvert.” When all six visionaries havereceived all ten secrets each, then theevents will unfold, and in rapidsuccession.

Our Lady calls us to peace (in ourhomes and families), to pray (say therosary daily), to convert (commit to God),to fast (Wednesday and Friday on breadand water), and to increase participationin the Sacraments (daily Mass, monthlyConfession, and the Eucharist).

“The third secret is a greatsign. It will be on the hillof apparitions, visible for

everyone to see...permanent...indestructible

...it will be a beautifulsign of God’s love.”

The Madonna has not come toannounce the world’s catastrophes,

but to help us avoid them.The main messages are not

have forgotten that through prayer andfasting you can avert war and suspend thelaws of nature.”

After the first admonition, theothers will follow in a short period oftime. Thus, people will have sometime - although not much, forconversion. That interval will be aperiod of grace and mercy. After thevisible sign appears, those who are stillalive will have little time forconversion. For that reason, theBlessed Mother invites us to urgentconversion and reconciliation.

The invitation to prayer andpenance is meant to avert evil andwar, but most of all...to SAVESOULS! According to Mirjana, theevents predicted by the BlessedMother are near. By virtue of thisexperience, Mirjana proclaims to thewhole world to: “Convert as quicklyas possible. Open your hearts to God.”

The secrets have but one function:they motivate for conversion. Theirgeneral theme is well known. Theworld has welcomingly abandoneditself to sin. People want to live“freely” without God, without faithand without law. New Age prophetshave announced the death of God asgood news, sexual freedom as goodnews, and vices, passions and humanimpulses such as violence and drugs asgood news.

The world is destroying itself. It isvehemently preparing for its owndestruction for having forgotten andabandoning God and His laws andcommandments. The ten secretsannounce, to a great extent, theimminent destructions which are notextrinsic punishments, but imminentjustice, the self-destruction of a worldwhich entrusts itself to evil throughdeviation and false idols.

The Madonna has not come toannounce the world’s catastrophes, but

The struggle has now entered intoits conclusive phase. As this century ends, youare entering into the most difficult and decisiveperiod...”

So the fact is that the Blessed Mother,Mary - the Queen of Peace is appearing allover the world, giving similar messages tohundreds and even thousands of visionaries.It is because the world is close to a greatchastisement, far worse than at the time ofthe flood... a great chastisement is about tobefall the world in the final battle withSatan. And Our Blessed Mother is appear-ing to tell us what to do to mitigate thechastisement. God, as a loving God andFather, is sending Her to give the messagesand warnings to His children, whom Heloves without end.

While reminding all Her children thatthe Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart isnear, Mary continues Her pleas for conver-sion. She also tells us that God is commit-ted to Her plan.

Yet, many souls have still not heard Hermessages, and some who have andresponded, and now beginning to relax andfall back into old ways.

Our Lady says, more now than ever, thatShe wants us to live and spread Hermessages.

Our Blessed Mother’s mission is to savesouls - yours and mine. Her mission is tokeep us on the path to salvation, knowingfull well what happens to those who chooseto leave that path of love. Day after day Shecontinues to call us to conversion - tochange our lives for the better. She inter-cedes before God and for us, and wishes uspeace - not just peace from war, but peacein our hearts, peace with our families, peacewith our neighbors and peace with God.

THE MESSAGE OFMEDJUGORIE

On the Feast of the ImmaculateConception, the Blessed Mother elaboratedon her role, saying that she had been des-tined to “give you my Son, Jesus. And mySon, Jesus, has given me to each one of you asyour true Mother... When, in this last century,my adversary wanted to challenge me and begina struggle which, through the error of atheism,would have seduced and deceived all humanity,from Heaven I appeared upon earth as theImmaculate One to comfort you, because it is,above all, my duty to fight and conquer the evil

one.” He is the “seducer and the artificer of allevil”, said Mary, “and this is the hour when Iwill personally intervene.” As a spiritual advisorShe says, “Keep faith, fast, and pray. Advanceagainst Satan by means of prayer. Satan wantsto work still more now that you know he is atwork, Dear children, put on the armor for bat-tle and with the rosary in your hand defeathim.”

On June 25th, 1994, our Blessed Motherappeared in Medjugorje to Ivanka. Ivankacame out after the apparition. Her face wasradiant. She said Our Lady was extremelyhappy, and wore a gray gown with whiteveil, both trimmed in gold. Our Ladythanked everyone for their response, withso many gathered together. She was happythat hardened hearts have started to openup so that Jesus could lead them to happi-ness and peace. She was very happy. Shetalked to Ivanka about all ten secret mes-sages and gave her some private advice.

Ivanka said right now her heart is sohappy that it is “soaring up like a sky-scraper.” Later, when asked if the secretswere disturbing to her, Ivanka said that theywere not, and that “we are going into bettertimes.”

The visionary Ivan said that through allthese years, Our Lady has given so manymessages, but they can all be summed up insix: Our Lady is calling us to prayer, topeace, inviting us to conversion, reconcilia-tion, penance and fasting, and to strongfaith and love.

Our Lady needs our prayers: togetherwith us she will conquer evil... but we haveto persevere. We cannot grow lukewarm inthis and pray one or two rosaries and thenforget for a month or two, but we shouldpray every single day.

Mirjana said that Our Lady came at justthe right time because there are very fewwho honestly and sincerely believe in God,who are honoring God, fasting and praying.“The world has never been like this. Godhas never been prayed to less than thistime. Everything else is more importantthan God. That’s why Our Lady is crying.God is not needed or respected by manypeople in the world. I’m sorry for those peo-ple because they do not know what they’reheaded for. If they could look into thesecrets, how they are, they would changeright away.”

FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVETHE GRACE TO BE ABLE TO HEARAND UNDERSTAND THEMESSAGES, WHAT ARE WESUPPOSE TO DO? WE ARE TOCHANGE OUR LIFE... TO BE ABLE TOHELP CHANGE THE LIVES OFOTHERS. To pray the rosary - to pray with

our families, every day, incessantly; to fast -especially on Wednesdays and Fridays; to goto confession and receive penance -monthly if possible (Our Lady said thatwith confession and prayer, whole sectionsof the world will be converted); She said toread scripture - that great graces and bless-ings have come from it; and to go to Massand receive the Holy Eucharist as often asyou can - daily if possible. All this, and oneother - to model our lives after Jesus, to imi-tate the Love and Truth and Light, ratherthan the Prince of Darkness. Be more likeJesus, and live and die pleasing to God.THIS IS THE MESSAGE OFMEDJUGORJE!

OUR LADY’S PLAN Our Lady has a plan, a plan to save

humanity.The Blessed Mother knows what will

help ailing mankind. Conversion, recon-ciliation, prayer and renunciation.Turning away from the subtle snares andtemptations, the voices of the false godsand prophets of the world, and theattempts by evil to portray immorality asgood. We begin with ourselves, our ownlives, and our families. Choose good overevil. Decide for God. “Put God in the firstplace in your families so that He may giveyou peace and protect you not only fromwar, but also... from every satanic attack.”

We must live Our Mother’s Messagesat Medjugorje more DEEPLY. God issending Her to us! She is delivering Hismessage of love, calling us to completesurrender to Him. This is the purpose forwhich we were created - to have a deepand total love of God, who loves us moredeeply than we can possible imagine. Hehas prepared a place for us in Heaven. Allwe have to do is pray, give our lives to Him,love our neighbor, and trust in His love forus.

According to the Sacred Scripture, Maryis Satan’s worse enemy, for (as God declaredin Genesis 3:15), “I will put enmitybetween you and the woman, and between

your offspring and hers... and while youstrike at her heel... she will crush yourhead.” Satan’s head will be crushed, hispower stripped away, he will be defeatedand banished into hell forever. As OurBlessed Mother said in Fatima, “In the end,my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” As St.Louis de Montfort wrote, “But the power ofMary over all the devils will especially shineforth in the latter times, when Satan will layhis snares against her heel: that is to say, herhumble slaves and poor children, whom shewill raise up to make war against him. Theyshall be little and poor in the world’sesteem... but... rich in the grace of God,which Mary shall distribute to them abun-dantly... and... in union with Mary, theyshall crush the head of Satan and causeJesus to triumph.”

She is asking again for more prayer, morestrongly than ever before. She is again tell-ing us the need for PEACE - peace in ourhearts, our families and the world. We arenot to dwell or judge on the lack of peace inothers; we must look to ourselves first, put-ting our own hearts and lives in order. Thenwe can reach out to others: our families andthe world. We all must start with ourselves.You cannot give away what you do nothave.

Our Lady is telling us that PRAYER isthe answer. Satan wants war and destruc-tion, immorality and our souls. Satan wantsto destroy all that is good. War is not justgoing on between countries or groups,THERE IS WAR PRESENTLY GOINGON BETWEEN THE WOMANCLOTHED WITH THE SUN, ANDTHE RED DRAGON! WE are in themidst of that war, and at stake are our souls.By seeking God’s peace and living OurLady’s Messages, we are taking refuge in theprotection of Her Immaculate Heart, as wellas helping to resist the growing tide of eviltowards the ultimate defeat of Satan.

Now IN THESE VERY SPECIALTIMES: Let’s re-read Our Blessed Mother’smany messages; let’s live them to the best ofour ability; let’s believe in Our Lord, Jesus,and choose for Him and live for Him; let’srenounce the immorality in the world -with all of its denial of God and desire forriches, power and pleasure; let’s seek com-fort in God instead of in material things;let’s ask that God’s desires be our desires;let’s resist evil and the subtle temptations aswell as the great; let’s call upon the help andguidance of the Holy Spirit; let us concen-trate on doing the Will of God, seeking forwhat He desires, instead of our own will;and let’s consecrate ourselves to Our BlessedMother; and through Her, let’s all comecloser to Our Lord and Our God. .

To an anonymous visionary, OurLady said, “I am speaking to

many souls now throughout theworld to accomplish my plan ofsalvation of this generation. God

in His mercy has preordained thisplan to be accomplished by meand, therefore, it is by divine

inspiration that I act - always inaccord with the will of God.”

THE POWER OF PRAYERPerhaps the most constant urging of Our Lady at Medjugorje is for prayer. She wants us to become COMMITTED to prayer. Our Lady said to Jelena: “You must understand that

you have to pray. Prayer is not a trifle. Prayer is a dialogue with God. You must hear the voice of God in every prayer. It is not possible to live without prayer. Prayer is life!” Prayer helps todeepen our relationship with God. Our Blessed Mother said that with your prayer and fasting, “one can stop wars, one can suspend the laws of nature.”

Perhaps one of the most pleasing as well as powerful prayers is the Rosary. TheRosary helps us to remember the lives of Jesus and His Mother, Mary, and is mostimportant in helping us to pray for World Peace and the lives and souls of others. TO PRAY THE ROSARY: o Begin the Rosary by making the sign of the cross and pray the “Apostle’s Creed” on

the cross of the Rosary. o On the first large bead, say the “Our Father”. o On the next three smaller beads, pray three “Hail Mary’s”. o This is followed by one “Glory Be To The Father”. o Then we pray the five decades, or five groups of beads:

- On the one large bead before each decade, we pray an “Our Father”. - On each of the smaller beads, we pray a “Hail Mary.

- At the end of each decade, we pray the “Glory Be”. MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY: Each time the Rosary is said, one should reflectupon a set of the “Mysteries of the Rosary”: the events that happened in the life ofJesus and Mary. There are four sets of mysteries, and each decade can be said while reflecting uponone set of the mysteries:

The Joyful Mysteries:-the Annunciation;-the Visitation;-the Birth of Jesus;-the Presentation of Jesus

in the Temple;-the Finding of Jesus

in the Temple. The Sorrowful Mysteries:

-the Agony in the Garden;-the Scourging at the Pillar;-the Crowning With Thorns;-the Carrying of the Cross;-the Crucifixion and Death

of Jesus. ABBREVIATED ROSARY: Our Blessed Mother also gave us a shortened form ofthe Rosary: She asked that every day, we say: Seven “Our Fathers”, Seven “HailMarys”, and, Seven “Glory Be to the Fathers”. She stated that this is very pleasing toGod, and will reward us with graces and her presenting of our intentions directlybefore God. She recommends it.
