As we begin the Year of the Eucharist and the season of Advent, our retreat theme will be centered around preparing our hearts for the Lord; especially when we come to the Eucharistic table. The English speakers will be Deacon Chris Meehan from Ascension Catholic Church and Gary Hessen from St. Joseph C atholic Church. There will also be an opportuni-ty to go to confession. Youth Group News

There will be no Middle School YG (11/22) or Senior High (11/26) as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. The Youth will be sponsoring a Christmas Community Event on December 15. We are looking for volunteers to help in the planning process. If you are interested, please let me know. Senior High Youth Group members are invited to participate in Small Group Bible Studies this Advent Season. Sessions will be held on Wednesday nights from 8 to 9:30 PM on the following dates: 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, and 12/20. Please register by November 26. Invitations for the Advent Prayer Night and Lock-In have been mailed out. This is a night where our teens will have many different opportunities to prayerfully reflect on this season of Advent- followed by an evening of fun. You must RSVP by 11/26 if you plan to attend. This event is open to both MS and Sr. High members. No habrá Grupo de Jóvenes de Escuela Intermedia(11/22) ni de escuela Superior(11/26) durante las va-caciones de Acción de Gracias. Ap Parroquial, Elemento-de-la-Semana

Saint Catherine of Alexandria is a canonized saint in the Catholic Church who, per Christian tradition, was martyred around 305 in Alexandria, Egypt. The young saint was born around 287 in Alexandria, Egypt. At that time, Alexandria was one of the finest cities in the world, and a center of learning and culture as well as faith. As a member of the nobility, she was also educated and was an avid scholar. Around the age of fourteen, she experienced a moving vi-sion of Mary and the infant Jesus, and she decided to be-come a Christian.

When the emperor Maxentius began persecuting Christians, Catherine visited him to denounce his cruelty. Rather than order her execution, Maxentius summoned fifty orators and philosophers to debate her. However, Catherine was moved by the power of the Holy Spirit and spoke eloquently in defense of her faith. Her words were so moving that several of the pagans converted to Christianity and were immediate-ly executed. Unable to defeat her rhetorically or to intimi-date her into giving up her belief, the emperor ordered her to be tortured and imprisoned. Unable to torture her to death, the emperor simply ordered her beheaded.

The Year of the Eucharist Pope Francis has declared the upcoming liturgical year the “Year of the Eucharist” and Bishop John Noonan has asked all parishes to embrace this theme with a variety of events in our parish. It will also be the Diocese of Orlando’s 50th Anniversary in 2018, so there will be much to celebrate. • Our first Parish Mass, in the church, was celebrated on April 17, 1993, so we are planning a Parish Mass Celebration, March 17, 2018 in conjunction with Confirmation – 25 year celebration with dinner to follow. SHARING OUR GIFTS Autumn is the season for harvesting and sharing the fruits of our labors. This week’s scriptures use images of the harvest, family life, pregnancy, and investment to describe the abundant harvest in the reign of God. We discover that sharing the gifts we have been given brings eternal rewards for everyone. In the Gospel parable a master entrusts his pos-sessions to three servants before going on a journey. Each is given some talents. What they do with those talents determines what the master will do with them when he returns. How about us? What are we doing with our talents? COMPARTIENDO NUESTROS DONES El otoño es la estación de la cosecha y de compartir los frutos de nuestra labor. Las lecturas bíblicas de esta semana emplean imágenes de la cosecha, la vida fami-liar, el embarazo y la inversión para describir la abun-dante cosecha en el Reino de Dios. Descubrimos que compartir los dones que hemos recibido trae recompensa eterna para todos. En la parábola del Evangelio un hombre le encarga sus bienes a tres servidores antes de partir de viaje. A cada uno le da dinero. Lo que hacen con ese dinero de-termina lo que el amo hará con ellos cuando regrese. ¿Y qué de nosotros? ¿Qué estamos haciendo con nuestros talentos? ¿Cómo nos tratará nuestro Maestro cuando vuelva?
