Follow These Safety Precautions When Cooking in Your Oven

Proper cooking depends upon the power, the tlrse set endthe quantity of food. If you uee a smaller portion thanrecommended end cook at the time for the recommen_portion, fire could result.

1) HOME CANNING I DRYING FOODS I SMALLQUANTITIES OF FOODS

• DO NOT use your oven for home canning,your ovencannot maintain the food at the proper canningtomperetum. Impropedycanned food may spoil and bedangerous to consume.

• DO NOT dry meats, herbs, fruits orve_ in youroven.SrnaHquantil_s of foodor foodswith lowmoisturecontentcan dry out, scorchor catchco fire ifoverheated.

POPCORN

3) DEEP FAT FRYING

4) EGGS

• DO NOT heat eggs in their shell in a microwaveoven.Pressure will buildup and the eggs will explode.

5) FOODS WITH NONPOROUS SKINS

• Potatoes, apples, whole eggs, egg yolks, whole squashand sausages are examples of foods with nonporousskins. These types of foods must be pierced beforemicrowave cookingto prevent their bursting.

• Use fresh potatoes for baking and cook untiljust done. Userecommended weights for programmedcooking.Overcookingcauses dehydrationand may result in o tire.

6) MGUlDS

• Heated liquidscan erupt if net mixedwith air. DO NOT heatliquids in your microwaveoven withoutfirst stirring.

7) GLASS TRAY / COOKING UTENSILS I FOIL

• Cooking utensils get hot duringmicrowaving.Usepotholderewhen removingutensilsfrom the oven or whenmmovthglids or plastic wrap covem from cookingutensilsto avoid bums.
