Worship and Praise Service
August 31, 2014
Welcome to worship at First Christian Church! Each week we offer two different worship
services: 8:15 am service features traditional worship and 11:00 am service features modern
worship.
Danny Bundy will be sharing our communion
and offering devotions.
When communion is served, we invite all Christ Followers to participate, partaking of the bread
as it is passed and retaining the cup until we can all partake together.
Kent Hickerson will be preaching from
John 3:30. His message is entitled “He Must Become Greater; I Must Become
Less” based on John 3:30.

THE STORY is coming to First Christian Church
Sunday, September 7, 2014. We would like to see
EVERYONE buy a copy of The Story for our cost - just
$5 each (retail is $20)! In addition, please consider
being in either a community group or a Bible School
class that will study along side our Sunday morning
sermons. If you are not in a small group, but want to
join one, please write this on your attendance card or
call the church office. Other books are available to
order (at our cost) too. Check out the table in the
church foyer or come to the church office.
We have THE STORY trading cards available for preschool
& elementary students. There is a card for each week
which highlights the lesson as well as providing the Bible
memory verse. These 31 cards are only $3.00.
If you ordered a children’s book, please check with Karen in
the church foyer as those books are available today. We
should have several copies of The Story available too.

STUDY
Praying for our church: Our church will begin an all church study of
The Story on September 7th. Please pray for our staff as they
prepare for this study, whether they are teaching, organizing small groups,
answering many questions or reaching out to those who are interested but
aren’t sure if this is what they want. Ask that the ministers & staff will have
boldness when proclaiming the Word of God. Pray for strength & wisdom
as small groups begin, that all will feel welcome & also excited as they
participate. Ask God to prepare the hearts of those who hear The Story,
that many lives will be claimed for the Kingdom, that more families will
follow after Jesus, that not only our congregation but our community will
be impacted by this study of The Story. Pray that our church will grow and
will be more unified through this study. Pray that more people will read the
Bible and truly understand what it means - to us as believers in Jesus
Christ and that we will be willing to show others the love of Jesus, for us to
become the hands & feet of Jesus. Pray that this study will spark a
growing interest in God’s Kingdom, that Clinton Illinois would have a
revival as people come to know Jesus & how much He loves them.
