NOTIFICATION

It has been decided by the State Government in Transport Department that every Auto

Rickshaw fitted with Fare Meter would be permitted to ply within AMC areas. For this purpose,

a Draft Notification is placed on the Tripura State Portal, Official Portal cif Government of

Tripura http/lTripura.gov.in. Meanwhile, in order to finalize the aforesaid Notification at the

earliest, objections and suggestions from the public on the Draft Notification are hereby invited

by 12.91.2019.

NOTIFICATION

In exe cise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 67 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 andhaving regard to the provisions of clause (i) and (ii) of said sub-section (1), The Govt. of Tripurahereby issues directions to the State Transport Authority, Tripura regarding fixing of fares andfreights for the contract carriages with seating capacity of 3(three) adult passengers excluding thedriver fitted with any standard measuring instrument (Fare meter) and generally known as autorickshaws plying in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas specified in Scheduleappended to this Notification with effect from the date of publication of the same in the officialGazette.

(2)' Fares and freights for the contract carriages specified in column I of the Schedule appendedhereto plying within ambit of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas, shall be subject to suchminimum and maximum fares as specified against them in column 2 and 3 respectively of theSchedule.

(l) For journey inside the Agartala Municipal Corporation(AMC) areas shall be :-

(a) For the first 1.5 Kilometre Rs.20/-(Rupees Twenty) only.

(b) For subsequent 1.5 kilometre to 4.16 kilometre or partthere of Rs.30/-

(c) For subsequent 4.16 kilometres to 20 kilometres as perfare chart as indicated at Annexure-I.

Rs.7.50 (Rupees seven andfifty paise) per article ofluggage:

Provided that article notexceeding fifteen kilogramsin the aggregate shall not becharged:

(Il) For Journey outside the AMC areas TransportDepartment Notification No. F. 28(l)-Trans/2004(L)(V-I)dated 9th July, 2018 would be applicable.

(Ill) Detention i.e. waiting charges shall be Rs.lI- (Rupeeone) for every five minutes after expiry of the first fiveminutes.

Provided further that no partof luggage carried shouldproject outside the vehicleand that the maximumluggage carried shall besixty kilograms.

(IV) The maximum waiting limit should be one hour withinAMC Areas.

(3) Every Auto Rickshaw fitted with Fare Meter would be permitted to ply within AMC areassubject to fulfillment of following conditions:-

Every Auto Rickshaw shall be fitted with any measuring instrument (Fare Meter) dulyapproved, tested and sealed by the Legal Metrology Department, Govt. of Tripura atleast once a year.

All on road auto rickshaw permits of AMC areas shall be converted into meter auto androad permit system within AMC areas would be abolished and Auto Rickshaw will plyany places within AMC areas. In addition meter auto would also be permitted to plythrough aggregator service.

The permit holder / driver shall not refuse to ply at any places within AMC areas as perchoice of the passenger.

Permit holder shall charge fare from the passenger as per display of meter verified by theLegal Metrology. Meter should be installed in the just behind the driver seat for easyvisibility of the passengers.

For the safety of Senior Citizen, Women and child passenger, right side of the passengerdoor should be under lock and key.

The auto rickshaw driver should wear khaki colour dress while driving.

Authorized dealer of Auto Rickshaw or other agency approved by the TransportDepartment should keep sufficient quantity of standard meter and also keep supportingstaff for regular maintenance of the taxi meters.

(viii) All the CNG operated meter auto should have a fire extinguisher.

(ix) Permit holder of meter auto should not possess more than one auto.

(x) Meter auto permit would not be transferrable for 05(Five) years from the date of issuingthe permit except in case of death.

Note:- For the purpose of this Notification "luggage" means any goods carried by the passengers inthe auto rickshaw.
