Automatic cohorts based on Demographic and Class Enrollment data

Demographic data can be edited/updated as necessary

Class enrollments can be changed as needed

Strategize Your Goal Setting

3 Opportunities for students to receive “Obtain GED” as a goal

When they TABE test at NRS Level #6 in BOTH math and reading

If all 5 GED scores are entered into ASISTS Or when the student is enrolled in a class coded as Instructional Type “GED”

High School Equivalency Goals

Page 7: NRS Changes & Implications

Students will automatically receive “Enter Postsecondary Education or Training” as a goal

Students who take and pass the current GED®, scores are entered into ASISTS

Earn a secondary credential or equivalent while enrolled

Have a secondary credential at entry (US or Foreign)

Postsecondary Goals

Page 8: NRS Changes & Implications

USDOE and the President have emphasized the POST in “Enter Postsecondary Education or Training” as a goal

Outcomes must occur after the student achieves the High School Equivalency Diploma or High School Diploma

Bear in Mind!

Page 9: NRS Changes & Implications

NOTE: ESL Students will no longer have the

option of choosing the goal of “Enter Training”

All “Enter Training” Goals and Outcomes are Postsecondary

ESL Students with High School Credential or Higher will automatically be in cohort with goal of “Enter Postsecondary Education or Training”

Page 11: NRS Changes & Implications

There will be NO SAMPLING in FY13

All students must be surveyed

However, Random Sampling Lists will be issued beginning January 2013

These lists will identify students who need to be surveyed, the results of that surveying will be credited on FY14 NRS Report!

OVAE has agreed that we may choose to Random Sample our state data

ASISTS will generate Semi-Annual Reports with the names of students to be surveyed

Those reports will begin in January 2013

Don’t wait! Survey those students as soon as you get the list!

Beginning in FY13/14

Employment Outcomes

Page 19: NRS Changes & Implications

The first report will contain the names of the students your program is responsible for surveying

For Employment, these are students who exited your program in Quarter 2 of FY13

For Retention, these are students who exited your program in Quarter 4 of FY12 and Quarter 1 and 2 of FY13

ASISTS will generate Semi-Annual Reports with the names of students to be surveyed

January and July

Beginning in FY13/14

Random Sampling

Exiting studentsNew Top Priority

When students have not attended for more than 90 days

They MUST be formally Exited out of ASISTS

Should they return, they can be re-activated by enrolling in a class

Where to look for Gain?

Prime candidates for a 2nd post test?

Page 32: NRS Changes & Implications

Strategize Post Testing

Focus on the students that are close to their

next level gain!

Page 33: NRS Changes & Implications

When students achieve the HSE (pass the GED®)

If they have at least one NRS Level #6 (either Math or Reading)

NYS Policy says you can archive the lower score

Student is then counted in ASE High – NRS Level #6 where no Educational Gain or Post Test Rate calculated

Students Achieving the HSE
