NRHH• National Residence Hall Honorary • Represents the top 1% of student leaders in residence
halls across the nation• Members are inducted twice a year; once in the fall
(upperclassman only) and once in the spring• We look for people who consistently go above &
beyond, who show a commitment to service and who are dedicated leaders
• GA Meetings are on every other Sunday night at 7PM in the Brittany Rhodes Room
OTMs!• Our primary purpose is to foster recognition of people &
programs…which we do through OTMs, or Of-the-Month Awards
• What does an OTM look like?– A written statement that explains how a person or program has
made a positive, meaningful impact during the month for which it is submitted
• Anyone & any program related to residential life & housing at NYU are eligible to be nominated!
How does the process work?• OTMs are submitted on the campus level by 11:59PM on
the last day of the month• The winners for each category are selected by the
NRHH GA & E-board on the first Sunday of every month after the 1st
• Winning OTMs are submitted to the regional level, where the winners are then submitted for consideration at the national level
Categories• INDIVIDUAL: Advisor, Hall Council/IRHC E-Board
Member, Hall Council/IRHC GA Member, RA FYRE, RA Upperclass, RA Graduate, Community (FYRE; Upperclass; Graduate; and Other), Professional/Graduate Staff, Faculty, RCA/OA, Student, Spotlight

Write a Winning OTM!How the OTM is written is just as important as who or what
the OTM is written about. The next 8 steps will tell you what goes into writing a great OTM!
1. SUBMIT THE NOMINATIONS ON TIME OTMs are due on the last day of every
month at 11:59PM and submitted online through our website at nyunrhh.org
Write a Winning OTM!
2. GIVE INFORMATION Provide as many details about the event
or individual as possible. It is the writer’s responsibility to explain what the nominee has done– use specific examples & get quotes from people!
Write a Winning OTM!3. BE MONTH-SPECIFIC
You have to tell the reader what the person did for that specific month that
makes them deserve this award! Use phrases like “In the month of
October, Ke$ha did ____” or “During the second week of November, Donald
Duck went out of his way….” etc
Write a Winning OTM!4. DEFINE ACRONYMS
They are not always universal! So you should say “Inter-Residence Hall
Council (IRHC)” or write out your hall-council name if you have an acronym
(CASA, SUG@R, TAG, FAB, GLAM, GLEE, etc)
Write a Winning OTM!
5. PROOFREADYou don’t have to write the next great
piece of literature (although you’re welcome to if you would like) but you should check your nominations for
spelling & grammar!
Write a Winning OTM!
6. COPY & PASTEWe recommend that you write all
nominations in a Word document first!
Write a Winning OTM! 7. LENGTH
Individual nominations should be between 400-600 words– so a
paragraph! Also, note that there is a 200 word
minimum for all individual OTMs!
Write a Winning OTM! 8. PROGRAM NOMINATIONS
If you’re looking for a way to recognize your hall council’s work in general, program
nominations are great! You just need to fill out information regarding the origin, effects,
and goals of the program. You can also read through OTMs to get
programming ideas! Also, you can nominate your own programs,
because you know it the best !
Other Forms of Recognition!• Weekly Kudos shout-outs during hall council/staff
meetings• Hall Council Member of the Week/RA Member of the
Week• Kudos board – posting recognition on a bulletin
board/people’s door
