NRHH• National Residence Hall Honorary • Represents the top 1% of student leaders in residence

halls across the nation• Members are inducted twice a year; once in the fall

(upperclassman only) and once in the spring• We look for people who consistently go above &

beyond, who show a commitment to service and who are dedicated leaders

OTMs!• Our primary purpose is to foster recognition of people &

programs…which we do through OTMs, or Of-the-Month Awards

• What does an OTM look like?– A written statement that explains how a person or program has

made a positive, meaningful impact during the month for which it is submitted

• Anyone & any program related to residential life & housing at NYU are eligible to be nominated!

Page 5: NRHH

How does the process work?• OTMs are submitted on the campus level by 11:59PM on

the last day of the month• The winners for each category are selected by the

NRHH GA & E-board on the first Sunday of every month after the 1st

• Winning OTMs are submitted to the regional level, where the winners are then submitted for consideration at the national level

Write a Winning OTM!How the OTM is written is just as important as who or what

the OTM is written about. The next 8 steps will tell you what goes into writing a great OTM!

1. SUBMIT THE NOMINATIONS ON TIME OTMs are due on the last day of every

month at 11:59PM and submitted online through our website at nyunrhh.org

2. GIVE INFORMATION Provide as many details about the event

or individual as possible. It is the writer’s responsibility to explain what the nominee has done– use specific examples & get quotes from people!

Page 9: NRHH

Write a Winning OTM!3. BE MONTH-SPECIFIC

You have to tell the reader what the person did for that specific month that

makes them deserve this award! Use phrases like “In the month of

October, Ke$ha did ____” or “During the second week of November, Donald

Duck went out of his way….” etc

Page 10: NRHH

Write a Winning OTM!4. DEFINE ACRONYMS

They are not always universal! So you should say “Inter-Residence Hall

Council (IRHC)” or write out your hall-council name if you have an acronym

(CASA, SUG@R, TAG, FAB, GLAM, GLEE, etc)

spelling & grammar!
