Driver’s ManualThe National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) Victor E. Huskie Chapter is the
premier honorary in the residence halls. We are comprised of the top 1% of
student leaders in the residence halls, dedicated to recognizing the
outstanding efforts of other leaders, promoting solid leadership principles,
serving the Northern Illinois University and DeKalb communities, and
excelling in our academic pursuits.
Dear GLACURH,
I am so excited for you all to experience the Victor E. Huskie chapter’s road-trip journey. This
NRHH chapter has done so many amazing things this past year and it truly deserves
recognition for its success. In overcoming the many challenges produced by the state budget
crisis, the bond of the Victor E. Huskie chapter was strengthened. Our NRHH chapter is still
striving to define our role as residence hall honorary on campus by promoting recognition in
the halls, engaging a wide variety of campus communities in our service events, and
promote leadership and academic development. I hope you all enjoy our bid.
Sincerely,
I Younan An

Roadside Attraction
AcademicsOur Victor E. Huskies Chapter’ members have gone
above and beyond this year to succeed
academically. They all strive to be the best in their
studies, which has led many of them to receive a
variety of scholarships from our university. The
majority of our members are a part of the University
Honors Program, which requires members to
maintain a high GPA, and many of our members are
on the Dean’s List. At NACURH 2017 at Purdue
University, our NRHH-CC I Younan An was selected
as the first recipient of the NRHH Member
Scholarship. Our member, Mitchell Huftalin was
named the Forward Together Forward Scholarship,
one of the most prestigious scholarship at NIU.
LeadershipOur Chapter’s members have explicitly
showcased their leadership on campus
and has impacted so many students on
campus. Most of our members are
community advisors who work to promote
the community within the residence halls.
Some of us serve on community councils
and RHA executive board. Some of us
became orientation leaders who worked
closely with freshmen in the summer.
Majority of our NRHH members are
involved in other organizations on
campus. 9
Road-Trip Values
RecognitionOur Chapter’s members demonstrate
the value of recognition everyday. We
impacted people with encouraging
words, letters, OTMs, verbal
expression and more. This past year
we have done so many amazing
recognition events
OTM PaddlesWithin writing OTMs, we have never failed to
recognize those who have written many amazing
OTMs. For those OTMs who achieved Regional and
NACURH win, we make a paddle for the nominator
to recognize their hard works. Those paddles
present to our members at both of our Fall and
Spring Inductions.
Poster/Letter
RecognitionWe often do poster and letter
recognition to our residence hall
members such as our
professional staff, our building
service workers, our front desk
workers, our dining staff and
more. 10
Road-Trip Values
OTMs:This past year, NIU’s NRHH chapter has taken the OTM process to a new level. We
have submitted more than 90 OTMs in the year, and those OTMs have went above
and beyond to get recognized at GLACURH and NACURH Level. In March 2017, our
chapter ranked 5th in NACURH within the OTMs submissions. In June 2017, our
chapter ranked 5th once again.
For the past 12
months, we have
submitted more
than 90 OTMs.
We had 28 Regional
Winning OTMs
We had 7 NACURH Winning OTMs in
between Nov 2016 to Oct 2017
OTMs:Of the Months have been such an
important aspect of our Chapter’s
recognition. Our active NRHH chapter
members are required to write two OTMs
per semester. Not only have our members
utilized this recognition tool every month,
but other residents living on campus have
also utilized OTMs to recognize their peers
who live on their floors, their community
advisors, their building service workers and
more. 11
We currently rank 4th on the NACURH

Student Choice AwardOn April 2017, the NIU Student Association hosted a Student Choice Award ceremony
to recognize outstanding student organization on campus that promote diversity,
service, academic, professional and social on campus. Those awards were given out to
student organization who went above and beyond for not only impact their own
members but also impact the university campus and the DeKalb Campus. This year
2017, we are proud to announce that “The National Hall Residence Hall Honorary
Victor E. Huskie” was awarded with the Outstanding Service Organization among other
52 amazing student service organizations.
This has shown to us that our hard work for what we have done to not only our
residence hall community but to our campus is widely recognized by someone. This
also allows us to keep working harder to hold our NRHH values and spread it like
confetti to other student to feel the NRHH spirit.
