a smaller, local charity," Coach Pedersen said. "It makes the experience more

meaningful when the girls can see the needs of this community and

understand why they are raising money." The basketball girls will hold a bake

sale to raise money for Lake County Haven. All levels of the basketball

program will also participate in a Community Service Day in January where

they will tour the Haven facility and circulate fliers around Lake County to

educate the public about the charity.

ROAD TRIP: The Varsity girls enjoyed a road trip to Milwaukee in November

to cheer on former Wildcat Claire Keefe as she played for the DePauw Tigers.

FAST NEWS November 2017

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the ILMEA District 7 Senior Division Music Festival that

was held at Glenbrook North High School on Saturday, November 11, 2017. The students had a full day of hard

work learning and fine tuning the challenging music that was selected for them. The result was a wonderful

concert that showed the dedication of both students and music faculty.

The Illinois Music Educators Association hosts 9 different district festivals in the fall. Each in a different region in

Illinois. District 7 consists of Lake County, Northern Cook County and Eastern McHenry County. More than 100

high schools participate in IMEA in District 7. The auditions take place in early October and the top students on

each instrument and voice part are selected to perform with the District 7 Choir, Band and Orchestra in

November. After the District Festivals in November the top students from each of the 9 IMEA Districts will be

selected to the IMEA State Festival in January. For high school musicians, being selected to the IMEA State

Festival is the highest individual honor they can receive. We are so proud that so many D128 students were

selected to District and look forward to hearing about how many will be selected to participate in the State

Festival.
