ALL SAINTS WELCOMES THE REV. DR. ANTHONY
HOLDER (FATHER TONY) AS OUR NEW RECTOR
The Vestry of All Saints’ Episcopal Church is thrilled to announce that the Rev. Dr.
Anthony B. Holder has answered its call to be our next Rector. Father Tony will
begin his ministry at All Saints’ on January 1st, 2020, with his installation service
scheduled for Sunday, January 12th.
Father Tony was ordained as a priest in Barbados in 1994, and recently celebrated
his 25th anniversary in the priesthood. He graduated from the University of the
West Indies, Codrington College Theological Seminary, and Trinity School for
Ministry where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2009. He has served as
Rector at Holy Trinity and St. Cyprian’s in Barbados, St. Michael’s in O’Fallon,
Illinois, and at Holy Sacrament in Pembroke Pines, Florida since 2011.
In the three dioceses in which he has served, Dr. Holder has led retreats and
seminars and served as the keynote speaker at prayer breakfasts and other events. In
the Diocese of Southeast Florida, he has served as a member of the Social Justice
Commission, and of the Bishop Search Committee, which facilitated the election of
Bishop Peter Eaton. Most recently, Father Tony served as the President of the
Diocesan Standing Committee for the past year.
Father Tony loves preaching and teaching, enabling people to grow in faith, working
with youth and children’s ministries, and engaging in mission and outreach work.
During their time with him, both the Search Committee and the Vestry were taken
by Father Tony’s joyous, infectious personality, his deep spirituality and devotion to
pastoral care, and his long history of growth and commitment to outreach wherever
he has served.
Father Tony is highly regarded by his colleagues in ministry and has received many
honors throughout his career. He was named one of the Eight Most Influential
Barbadians in Florida in 2014. In 2015, he received the Clergy Award from the
Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association of the USA and the
United Nations Foundation. In 2016, he was honored by Friends Supporting the
Anglican Diocese of Belize, Inc. in New York for his commitment and leadership in
community service, particularly to mission work in Belize.

SENIOR WARDEN’S PERSPECTIVE Oh the places we’ve been!
This time last year Jeanne’ Hudock was just hired as Organist and Choir Director on a trial basis from Oct – Dec. We just finished replacing the chairs in Coffey Hall. We · hadn’t had the Coffey Hall conference table refinished, · hadn’t gotten all the bugs out of the Breeze church management software. · hadn’t been led by Paul Neff through an incredible Stewardship effort · hadn’t gotten the results of our Congregation Assessment Survey (CAT) · hadn’t selected the Search Committee · hadn’t finished organizing and filing the years of history that had been uncovered · hadn’t started thinking about changing the 1970’s era audio -visual technology So many challenges have been overcome since May 2018. Just think about all that has transpired. We did it with God’s help! We can’t do what we’ve always done and expect to get different results. We are about to start a new chapter in the history of this parish! Be supportive of and open to our 8 th Rector and the Holy Spirit. Let’s see where God leads us next and see the new places we’ll go.

“It is truly a joy and blessing to be called as your next Rector,” Father Tony says.
“My family and I are excited about joining you at All Saints’ and being a part of the
Treasure Coast community. I eagerly look forward to our working and sharing in
mutual ministry, with all the blessings and challenges that will come with it, as we
seek to advance God’s kingdom in this part of His vineyard. My first priority is to
visit each of you in your homes as we get to know, love, and care for each other. I
want to learn from you, listen to your stories, and to hear about your history, hopes
and dreams for All Saints’.”
Father Tony and his wife, Judith, have two children; a son Tadhg (pronounced
Taig), 16, and a daughter Aleksi, 12. He enjoys art, reading, tennis, traveling, walk-
ing and spending time with family and friends.
“We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to call such a loving, gifted and
experienced priest to All Saints’ as our next Rector,” said Senior Warden Joyce
Fletcher Menard. “This man of faith will help us grow spiritually as a church family
and as individuals. Our parish will grow in many ways that only God knows, and we
can’t wait to see what is to come. Please join me in welcoming Father Tony and his
family to our parish community.”

MUSIC NOTES
As we look at the month of November, two recurring themes throughout the month are gifts and giving.
On the first Sunday of the month, November 3, the choir lends its support to our stewardship campaign by singing the anthem “Use Your Gifts” by Lynn Shaw Bailey and Becki Slago Mayo. As children of light and servants of love , we are reminded that all that we have are gits from above . We are then urged to share our gifts of time, talent, and money in our faithful service of the Lord. The anthem fittingly closes with the reminder that God’s gift of love belongs to you.
The second Sunday, Nov. 10, is the Marine Corps Birthday and the day before Veterans’ Day. As we did last year, we will honor our veterans with the choir singing Lloyd Larson’s “A Tribute to the Armed Services.” As the anthem proceeds through the singing of the Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Navy, and Air Force service hymns, we encourage veterans to stand when you hear the singing of the hymn associated with your branch of service so that you can be recognized. It is our way of giving you thanks for your service to our country.
The last Sunday of the month, Nov. 24, is designated as Christ the King Sunday. Through the hymns and the choir anthem choir for that Sunday, we will give thanks and praise to Christ our King. Thanksgiving closes our month of services on November 28. As we gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing, we will give thanks throughout our service for all the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. Looking over the month with its recurring themes of gifts and giving, it seems such a beautiful and meaningful way for us to end this liturgical year. May God bless you always.
Blessings and peace,
Jeanné Hudock
THE ORDER
OF THE DAUGHTERS
OF THE KING
As the holidays approach, may we all have grateful hearts at Thanksgiving time. History tells us that in 1623 William Bradford (Governor of Bay Colony at Plymouth, Mass.) decreed the English Puritans (later known as Pilgrims) were to gather with their families at the meeting house at noon on Thursday the 30th of November (the third year after landing at Plymouth Rock). They were to " listen to their Pastor and render thanksgiving to Almighty God for all His blessings."
Thanksgiving was established as a Federal holiday in 1863 during the American Civil War when Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a day of "thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens."
The November meeting of the All Saints' Chapter of the Daughters of the King will be held on Monday evening, November 4th beginning promptly at 6:00 PM. All members are encouraged to attend. Once again, we thank our church family who prayed with us for "'no hurricanes in southeast Florida" this storm season. Again this year we were greatly blessed as a storm headed directly toward us veered away. To this, we all say "we praise you and thank you, dear Lord."
God’s gift of love belongs to you.

DEACON’S REPORT
This month I'd like to talk about two interrelated ministries. The first is the TRUE (Towards Relief of Urgent Emergencies) fund, initiated by our Diocese, that our church and others have supported for a long time. I have administered this fund for about seven years. It provides financial help to individuals and families who have had emergencies in their households which prevent them from paying their living expenses. Generally we have given about $3 -4000 to people, within our parish and our greater community, with urgent needs each year. We help individuals with up to $150 once a year.
I was very surprised that we had almost no requests for funds in the first three months of the year, but requests increased significantly in the last 6 months. I think as the population decreases seasonally, the employment of many low income families decreases. Many are laid off or have fewer hours of earnings.
Most frequently we provide help to people who are unable to pay rent, a car payment or a util ity bill . Sometimes just one payment from us is enough to help them manage. For example, one young man who was working at Mariner Sands in the dining room had his hours cut back severely at the end of the season. Our $130 from TRUE paid his FPL bill and avoided disruption to his electric service. An older woman who works at Publix has also had her work hours decreased. She was behind in her car payments, so the money we gave her helped make her car payment. TRUE funds are supported by your donations, please consider adding a small amount to your pledge to help those in need. Together, we help many.
The other real need I want to mention is homelessness. In our county there are almost no shelters for the homeless. At a meeting I attended this month for a new agency called Family Promise, I learned there are 487 homeless children in our county. This agency is working toward having churches in the county every couple of months house some of these families and provide other structured services for them. Some of these are recreation, meals and counseling to get them into affordable housing. It is almost impossible for large families who are evicted to find housing in our county.
The church I attended in New Jersey has this same program in the church where families stay with each church for a week every two-three months. Family Promise of Martin County is progressing and has 9 churches committed to do the housing so far.
I will be attending the Family Promise Meetings and update us on their progress. There is already an active program in Palm Beach County.
In God's love,
Deacon Alan

The Altar Guild has been working on several projects around the nave of the church. Barbee Henderson
and Carolyn Hanna removed the sanctuary lamp and polished the brass. Next will be to tackle the chains
and ball that allow the candle to move up and down. No easy task! Our votive candle holder that is
carefully and lovingly tended to each week by Pat Kahrimanian was dismantled, misplaced wax was
removed, the holder was polished and all was returned into place. Even dripped wax on the carpet was
removed by ironing over newspapers! We have a very dedicated group of men and women and men who
give of their time and talents once a month for an hour to prepare the Lord’s Table. We continue to have
one opening for a 10 o’clock position. Will you prayerfully consider joining the Altar Guild? It is a perfect
time to share and witness your faith with the All Saints’ Community.
Update on the church vestments...The Pentecost Stole (green) that is worn by the priest around the neck is brand new, as it was too highly damaged to refurbish. Father Brandt has blessed the vestment and it is ready as we await our new Rector. The green Chasuble, that is worn by the priest while preparing communion, was also too badly damaged due to mold and has been remade. Due to an error by the manufacturer, this vestment was newly remade at a reduced cost and former Deacon Jane Hostetter graciously has donated monies to cover the cost. Thank you Deacon Jane! The vestment has shipped and should be arriving to the parish any day. The Super Frontal that covers the altar was remade as well as the Pulpit Hanging. By sewing them and lining them ourselves we saved many dollars. We still need to raise the funds to repair the two Deacon Dalmatic Chasubles. Then our green Pentecost vestments will be fully complete.
Since the last Trumpet, there have been several funerals and one memorial service. Each time the Altar Guild has assisted the Supply Priest in preparing for the service and has been at the ready to help the families and help All Saints’ meet their needs. All vestments and hangings were changed from the season of Pentecost to the white vestments each time we had a funeral/memorial service.
As many of you know, our Senior Warden, Joyce A. Fletcher Menard, has written an excellent resource book on our church called “Windows, Memorials and More”. One of my favorite stained glass windows depicts the 10 Commandments, the very tablet and essence of our faith, which is dedicated to Florence Johnson, put in place circa 1966. While out and about shopping, I came across a lovely antique framed crewel work with the 10 Commandments sewed in their entirety. The same now hangs in the church near the stained glass window. Have you noticed the new hanging addition to our church yet? If you have not had the opportunity to read this wonderful book by Joyce, treat yourself soon!
As we end the month of October and move further into the Fall season and Thanksgiving, let us take time now to prayerfully reflect on all our blessings.

ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY
SCHOOL
As we continue through the season of Pentecost, our faith continues to grow and we learn from Jesus to not give up, to be persistent in our faith through daily prayer. When we get discouraged, Jesus tells us to, “pray always and not lose heart.” If we keep checking in with God about what is going on for us in our lives, then we will also be better able to hear and know from God how God wants to help us with those things.
All Saints’ children’s Community Outreach continues with our Thanksgiving Baskets for Elev8Hope project. We’ve asked everyone to bring in “Thanksgiving” food items on October 27 and Nov. 3 for Martin County families that are struggling to survive. The children will be sorting all donated food items into baskets and delivering them to Elev8Hope for distribution on November 3.
Our next project will be manning the Hot Dog stand at the Women’s Fellowship Holly Fair on Saturday, November 23 from 11 – 1:30. All proceeds earned will go towards a community outreach project of their choice. Plan on eating a delicious hot dog, chips and a coke at the Holly Fair!
If you have friends or family with children who are not established in a church program, please tell them about ours. Our curriculum is dedicated to teaching the Gospel and building a relationship with Jesus, knowing and understanding the Liturgical Calendar, and actively participating in Community Outreach and church projects. Plus, making friends and having fun is a fringe benefit!

50 years ago - Our 3d Rector, the Rev. Willard Lynn and his family, returned to Christ the King Church, Orlando in October 1969 after only 3 years at All Saints’. Father Lynn accepted the call to return to be their Rector. He, his wife Lurlene and children Rusty and Julie were dearly missed.
In 1979, a balcony was added to the church, which increased the seating capacity to better serve the growing congregation, provide for a choir loft and to move the organ to the upper level. The contractor, Carl Pauley, was a Seabee during the 2nd World War. An artistic man, he painstakingly duplicated the hand paneled native pine walls, milling each piece on site. Though not a member of this parish, he is buried in the cemetery.
1989 Annual Report Highlights
Bob Wilsey, Sr. Warden
• “St. Theresa House (formerly referred to as the Eaton House) is currently being utilized as a shelter home in cooperation with the Jesus House of Hope.” [1]
• A choir and a Prayer and Fasting team were established. Stephen’s Ministers were trained.
Jr. Warden
• The year’s income was down and there were deferred maintenance projects and greater dependence on parish members to accomplish a variety of repairs and updates.
• Sexton Gerry Wilkinson retired. He was a former vestryman and was a long-time member of the parish. [He died the following year at the age of 68.]
• Choir established and debuted at Easter
• A music library of purchased music begun.
• Bethany Treasures [Thrift Shop] generated $9,023. The building was air-conditioned and bags of clothes and shoes given to the migrant labor and outreach programs.

ALL SAINTS’ WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The Women’s Fellowship of All Saints’ gathered together for our annual Welcome Back Brunch on October 19. Thirty-two attended, plus our guest speakers, Jack Miller and Jerry Walters. The food was delicious and the
conversations were lively! It was great to have many of our “snowbirds” back, too. Many thanks to Jack and Jerry for their “Stewardship” presentation. Time, talent and treasure is so important to the maintenance and growth of All Saints’ and especially with the arrival of our new priest; we are ready as always to meet the challenge.
Our business meeting focused mainly on Our Annual Holly Fair, November 23 rd and 24th, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sandy Miller, Gale Forchelli, Liz Burch, Janet Galante and Karen Neff have been putting together many “collections” for the Silent Auction during the past month and we still have room for more. So, if you have items set aside to donate for the Holly Fair, please bring them to church ASAP. The Holly Fair will be here before we know it! Remember to go to your favorite salon, restaurant or place of business for a gift certificate donation. We have posters and business letters for you to give these businesses. See Karen Neff or Gale Forchelli. Janet Galante, our Bake Shop chairman, has many great ideas this year. The Bake Shop and Noel Café will be in the nursery with many amenities, besides delicious baked goods. Be sure to see Iris and sign up to volunteer to work – husbands and significant others are welcome and needed as well. We’ll need lots of help, especially on Saturday.
Joan Whitting is selling the Enjoyment Books again this year as another fundraising opportunity for Women’s Fellowship. For $35 the books are a great bargain with so many restaurant, entertainment and place of business discounts. Be sure to see Joan after the church services.
Our next meeting will be mostly a “work” meeting on November 16, at 9:30 in Houg Hall, the week before our Holly Fair. We will be doing activities and finalizing plans for the next full week’s preparations for the big event. We’ll need everyone’s participation. Thanks!
Just a reminder that ALL women of All Saints’ Church are already members of the Women’s Fellowship. It’s not something you have to “officially” join. Our purpose is to deepen the spiritual lives of the Women of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and to strengthen their participation in the mission and outreach of the Church and Community. It’s a great way to give back to the church, get to know each other better and help with All Saints’ community outreach. Plus, it’s fun! See you on November 16!

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The Men's Fellowship will meet on November 4, 2019 at 6:00pm.
We will discuss plans for the welcoming of our new priest, how we can help the Women's Fellowship with their Holly Fair, and our plans for 2019-20;
GARDEN PARTY
On Saturday, October 26th, we had 15 energetic and en-thusiastic parishioners work on the Church Land-scape. The All Saints' land-scape has "flourished" from this year's seasonal rain and heat. All the help, energy and garden knowledge was extremely appreciated by Louise Andrews, our Martin County Master Garden-er. Even the sidewalks were scrubbed. We want our gar-dens to reflect the beauty of our little Church on the Hill. Beginning at 8 am, many yard projects were completed by "crews" work-ing together and finishing in time for lunch and socializ-ing at 11 AM.
