P Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, You knit together Your faithful people of all times and places into

one holy communion, the mystical body of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Grant us so to follow Your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living that, together with them, we may come to the unspeakable joys You have prepared for those who love You; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

C Amen. Sit First Reading Revelation 7:2–17

2Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, 3saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

512,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad, 612,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh, 712,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar, 812,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.

9After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” 13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15“Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. 17For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Epistle 1 John 3:1–3

1See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Stand Alleluia and Verse ♫ LSB 156

Holy Gospel Matthew 5:1–12

P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the fifth chapter. C Glory to You, O Lord.

1Seeing the crowds, [Jesus] went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: 3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. 6“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 7“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 8“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ.

Stand Apostles’ Creed

C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of the Church

P Let us pray to the Lord, our God and Father, who raised Jesus from the dead. For all God’s chosen people whom He has knit together in the one mystical body of His Son, that He would give His whole Church in heaven and on earth His light and His peace,

P For all ministers of the Gospel and for the congregations committed to their care, that they may proclaim the comfort of Christ’s sacrifice and the joy of His resurrection to all who grieve their sin and mourn their dead,

P For all in authority over us, especially those who work to bring peace and justice, that God would supply them with His blessing and that they may be inclined to His will and walk according to His commandments; and that He would grant wisdom to our citizens and courage and competence to our leaders,

P For all who travel, for those in need, for the sick and injured, [especially _____________,] for all who mourn, [especially _____________,] and for all who have asked for our intercessions, [especially _____________,] that God’s great mercy may relieve and comfort each,

P For the faithful in this vale of tears, that in the midst of things we cannot understand, we may believe and find comfort in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting,

P For all who commune, that in the blessed Sacrament they may gather with joy around the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, whom saints and angels adore around His eternal throne,

P Keep us in fellowship with all Your saints, O Lord, and bring us at last to the joy of Your heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

C Amen. Offering—Offering is collected in baskets near the entrances. Stand Offertory ♫ LSB 159

C What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits to me? I will offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call on the name of the Lord. I will take the cup of salvation and will call on the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people, in the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem.

Benediction LSB 166

Hymn Jerusalem the Golden LSB 672

1 Jerusalem the golden, With milk and honey blest— The promise of salvation, The place of peace and rest— We know not, oh, we know not What joys await us there: The radiancy of glory, The bliss beyond compare!

2 Within those walls of Zion Sounds forth the joyful song, As saints join with the angels And all the martyr throng. The Prince is ever with them; The daylight is serene; The city of the blessèd Shines bright with glorious sheen.

3 Around the throne of David, The saints, from care released, Raise loud their songs of triumph To celebrate the feast. They sing to Christ their leader, Who conquered in the fight, Who won for them forever Their gleaming robes of white.

D 4 O sweet and blessèd country, The home of God’s elect!

O sweet and blessèd country That faithful hearts expect! In mercy, Jesus, bring us To that eternal rest With You and God the Father And Spirit, ever blest.

Service of the Sacrament Preface LSB 160

P The Lord be with you. C And also with you.

P Lift up your hearts. C We lift them to the Lord.

P Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

P It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God. In the communion of all Your saints gathered into the one body of Your Son, You have surrounded us with so great a cloud of witnesses that we, encouraged by their faith and strengthened by their fellowship, may run with perseverance the race that is set before us and, together with them, receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying:

Sanctus ♫ LSB 161

C Holy, holy, holy Lord God of pow’r and might: Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna. Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Prayer of Thanksgiving LSB 161

P Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross.

Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us faithfully to eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us do in His own testament. Gather us together, we pray, from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

C Amen. The Words of Our Lord

P Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: “Take, eat; this is My T body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me.”

In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: “Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My T blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

P As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. C Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

P O Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, in giving us Your body and blood to eat and to drink, You lead us to remember and confess Your holy cross and passion, Your blessed death, Your rest in the tomb, Your resurrection from the dead, Your ascension into heaven, and Your coming for the final judgment. So remember us in Your kingdom and teach us to pray:

Lord’s Prayer

C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Pax Domini LSB 163

P The peace of the Lord be with you always. C Amen.

Agnus Dei ♫ LSB 163

C Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world; grant us peace.

Sit Distribution Hymn We Sing for All the Unsung Saints LSB 678

1 We sing for all the unsung saints, That countless, nameless throng, Who kept the faith and passed it on With hope steadfast and strong Through all the daily griefs and joys No chronicles record, Forgetful of their lack of fame, But mindful of their Lord.

2 Though uninscribed with date or place, With title, rank, or name, As living stones their stories join To form a hallowed frame

Around the myst’ry in their midst: The Lamb once sacrificed, The Love that wrested life from death, The wounded, risen Christ.

3 So we take heart from unknown saints Bereft of earthly fame, Those faithful ones who have received A more enduring name: For they reveal true blessing comes When we our pride efface And offer back our lives to be The vessels of God’s grace.

Keep the Faith One Verse at a Time

The Board of Youth has been praying for a way to encourage and provide support for our families and youth to remain strong and steadfast in their faith. While traveling through this ever changing world we need to be fed by His word, and sometimes just like the old saying “one day at a time” “one verse at a time”. So …Keeping the faith, one verse at a time! One verse each week, through Facebook posts and in the bulletin to encourage you and your family to “keep the faith”. Our prayer is that each verse will be an encouragement and will speak to you at a time when you need it the most. Please help us continue to lift up the youth, young adults, and families with prayer, love, and encouragement! Stay tuned as we all strive to Keep the Faith One Verse at a Time!
