    Loving MontanaDarren Scott, an ASI

    employee who has been

    working on the plunge pool

    project below the Fort Peck

    Spillway, has nally fell in

    love with Montana. He grew

    up in Philadelphia but came

up here from New Mexico. However, it wasnt his rst

    time visiting Montana. While

    playing college football in Las

    Vegas, they traveled to to

Montana to take on the MSU

    Bobcats. What he remembers

most about his rst trip to the

    Big Sky Country was, We

    got our butts kicked. Hes

    apparently got over that,

    though, as since working

here he has fallen in love with

    northeast Montana enough

to call it home even after the

work is nished at Fort Peck.

    A genuinely nice guy, Darren

    currently resides at St. Marie

with plans to buy. I absolutely

    love it here, he says.

Te Democrat-controlled Senate ailed to gatherthe 60 votes it needed to approve the constructiono the Keystone XL pipeline, rejecting a measure theHouse o Representatives approved last week.

Te vote uesday evening ell one shy o the 60needed to overcome the filibuster, with 14 Democratsjoining all 45 Republicans in backing the project. Te Keystone XL pipeline project has been at thecenter o a major political debate since 2008 whenransCanda applied or permission to construct the1,179-mile-long pipeline. In the near term, the vote means President Obamagets to avoid a difficult decision on whether to veto thebill. But Senate Republicans said he shouldnt get toocomortable because they will pass a new version assoon as they take control o the chamber next year.

For so many good reasons, well be back with thisafer the first o the year, said Senator Lisa Murkowskio Alaska, a Republican who is poised to replace Ms.Landrieu as head o the Senate Energy Committee. And I believe that the momentum weve gained meanswell see progress and see this bill passed. Based on uesdays vote and Senate balance

Keystone XL pipeline shot down in the Senatenext year, Republicans should have enough supportto overcome a Democratic filibuster but not enoughto override a presidential veto. Given the numbero Democrats who supported the bill on uesdayRepublicans may well be able to muster a filibuster-proo 60 votes to pass the pipeline in the next Congress

but they are still likely to all a ew votes short o 67, thenumber required to override a presidential veto.
