We ask that all guests refrain from shouting, whistling, or clapping during the reading of your student’s name. We will recognize all the graduates as a group after the names have been read. Noisemakers,

Beach balls, balloons, and other items that could be disruptive must not be a part of the ceremony. Police will escort any student or guest from the graduation program if the behavior becomes disruptive. An individual may not return once

removed from the auditorium.

CCEERREEMMOONNIIAALL CCUUSSTTOOMMSS

The Pageantry of the Commencement Ceremony is rooted in traditions that are centuries old. The following information is designed to assist you in understanding the significance of these ceremonial rites.

Processional –The processional opens the commencement ceremony. Faculty members lead the procession dressed in their academic regalia representing the university where they have earned their highest degree.

Four teachers, selected by the Senior Class, lead the North Kansas City High School graduates into the auditorium. Students wear their own regalia representing different honors they have received in their high school careers.

IInntteerrnnaattiioonnaall BBaaccccaallaauurreeaattee PPrrooggrraammmmeess ~ The IB diploma is a pre-university diploma, utilizing international standards based on an integrated curriculum infused with globalism. The diploma is an “international admissions credential.” The IB career related

certificate combines IB coursework alongside career pathways. White Stole with IB emblem and Gold Medallion

AAPP CCaappssttoonnee DDiipplloommaa ~ These students have completed two specific Advanced Placement courses and a minimum of four additional AP classes and earned a 3 or higher on the exams. The program teaches independent research, collaborative teamwork

Leah McCullough is the daughter of Chris and Michelle McCullough. Leah has been very active over the last 4 years. She has been involved with NHS IBIP, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, STUCO and Football Manager. Leah is an International Baccalaureate candidate. She will be attending Missouri State University in the fall studying Nursing. Ella Skaggs is the daughter of Trent and Amanda Skaggs. Ella has also been very busy the last 4 years. Ella is a member of the Young Democrats, NHS, Speech and Debate, Tennis, Swim Team, STUCO, Orchestra, KC Youth Symphony and Missouri Girls State. Ella will be attending Drake University in the fall.

Corey McCune is a teacher of history, government, and leadership. This is his fifteenth year teaching, all at NKCHS. He has also served as co-sponsor for Student Council the last four years. Corey is married to his wonderful wife Lacey and they have two children, Harper (3) and Kenley (1). He attended the University of Kansas as an undergraduate and Fort Hays State for graduate school.
