The Nordic Region Trade & Export Finance Conference returned to Stockholm for its ninth year, further establishing itself as the only event of its kind in the Nordic region. The conference attracted over 420 delegates from across the international trade community, providing unrivalled networking opportunities for domestic, regional and international financial institutions, companies ranging in size from SMEs to MNCs, as well as policy makers and trade finance specialists.
The one-day event saw discussion focus on the numerous external risks and opportunities faced by international companies and financiers across the globe, as well as lively discussion on key political developments in America and the UK, and the relief of Iranian sanctions. With a challenging business environment showing no sign of imminent improvement, the present and future role of technology in international trade and financing proved a hugely popular topic and, for some, a reason to be optimistic. Tech experts from a variety of trade and financing backgrounds highlighted distributed ledger technology, often referred to as ‘Blockchain’, as a highly promising area for development, offering the potential to relieve pain points being experienced across documentary business processes and in the area of regulatory compliance.
2016’s event once again enhanced the series’ reputation as the primary meeting point for all members of the trade community.

PRESS RELEASE
Over 400 Nordic region trade leaders gather in Stockholm
Tech experts from a variety of trade and financing backgrounds highlighted distributed ledger technology, often
referred to as ‘Blockchain’, as a highly promising area for development, offering the potential to relieve pain points being experienced across documentary business processes and in the area of regulatory compliance.
“As expected, recent political events and geopolitics were pervasive in most discussions at this year’s meeting, given the current focus of key policy makers on free trade and globalization”, says Peter Gubbins, GTR Founder and Managing Director. “This is the tenth anniversary of GTR’s Nordic Region Conference and as we have seen time and again over the years, Nordic exporters will find a way to continue and grow business in international markets despite the challenges – they are world leaders in the field of international trade.”
2016’s event once again enhanced the series’ reputation as the primary meeting point for all members of the trade community.
“Great conference. You can meet with trade exporters, ECAs and banks all in one day. Very efficient.”
Lars Bergstrom, Raiffeisen Bank
“A well organised event with great possibilities to network and expand your business.”
