Look no further, Friends of Araluen presents The Three Chinese Tenors, a unique cultural Valentine’s Day experience. The internationally rec- ognised ensemble will be performing at the Araluen Arts Centre on Friday, Feb- ruary 14, having inspired audiences across Australia and South-East Asia. Creator of the group, Hao Zhou, said they were excited to return to Alice Springs after performing in town once before. ‘‘There’s something about Alice, and Central Austra- lia,’’ Mr Zhou said. ‘‘It just has a special feel- ing. We find this special feeling being in the heart of Australia. ‘‘We’re mainly coming to Alice, but we will go to Western Australia to do some performances after- wards.’’ As the show happens to fall on Valentine’s Day, Mr Zhou said it was the perfect way to spend an evening your partner. ‘‘I think most of the music we sing is romantic, whether it is dramatic and opera or a large piece of music like You Raise Me Up,’’ he said. ‘‘People can expect strictly operatic arias, Neapolitan songs, musical theatre songs, as well as Chinese songs, and of course every- one’s favourite, No One Shall Sleep and O Sole Mio.’’ The Three Chinese Tenors’ Central Australian performance will kick off what Mr Zhou hopes to be another successful year for the group, who have been together for 20 years. ‘‘I guess making more music and making people happy is our main dream - and to be entertaining,’’ Mr Zhou said. ‘‘In my past life I was an opera singer, I noticed people could get bored. Being traditionally trained singers we sing all different music in our own style. ‘‘Our show caters to every- one from people who love opera as well as give people an experience of trained fine voices singing a pop song.’’ The Three Chinese Tenors are sure to give you a completely different take on the world of opera when they combine cabaret-style audience interaction, stand- up comedy and operatic beauty. They will have the audi- ence laughing one minute, in awe the next with their virtuoso piano and vocal tal- ents. Friday, February 14, 8pm Adults: $49.
