Conflicting Emotions

Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright!

At the MCG one night.

What immortal foot or eye,

Could kick a goal after the siren and sink the

SWANS.?

Answer: Ex-Northie, Sam Lloyd!

What a wonderful memory was created for Sam, on

Saturday night. One of only 38 players to have

achieved this feat.

And yes; I must admit, that Swans fan or not, as

Sam lined his kick up, I was hoping his aim was true.

Funky Hair Day On Friday 20th of May, Deniliquin North School will be holding a “Funky Hair

Day”. Children may go wild and wacky with their hair on that day. The day is to

raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Children can be as creative as they wish to be with their hair on that day. They can

be as wild– or not with their hair, as they wish to be. Some suggestions are:

Have their hair done in a different way just for the day,

Have special hair decorations that day,

Wear a wig for the day,

Colour their hair for the day (in a colour that will wash out). If hair sprays are

brought to school, these need to be given to class teachers.

Children may wear casual clothes that day.

Children are asked to bring a GOLD COIN donation on the day.

Christie and Jack Gavel will be doing the “World’s Greatest Shave” as part of the

fundraising that day. Paula Barnette will be coming up to school to do this, during

assembly at 12.30 that day (please note change of assembly day for that week).

Parents are invited to come along to this assembly and watch Christie and Jack

being shaved. Christie has set up a fundraising team called, “DNPS Rumbles Rebels”.

If you would like to make a donation directly to this team , you could go to the team

page link, which is:

https://secure.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?

teamID=95909

Or, you could make a donation on the day.

The Leukaemia Foundation is a terrific organisation. Funds raised go towards a

variety of things– research into treatments and cures for blood cancers,

accommodation for regional families who have loved ones having treatments, and

supporting people with leukaemia in many other ways. Leukaemia has touched the

lives of many people in our town, and this is just one way of helping out.

THE TOILET MONSTER

Seth, Annabel, Xavier,

Talitha and Benji were

playing hide and seek in

the playground.

In the toilets a monster climbed out of a toilet. It

slowly jumped down to the playground.

The kids saw the monster. The kids ran away. They

ran to their classroom and shut the door and the

windows.

Xavier told the teacher, Mrs Hanns. “We found a

monster outside!” said Xavier.

Mrs Hanns didn’t believe the boys and girls. Then,

she looked out of the window. She saw the monster.

Benji said, “I need to tell Mr Hogan!” Benji sneaked

out of the room and punched the monster in the

face.

The monster got scared.

Benji ran to Mr Hogan’s office. “Get out of the

office super quick, because there is a monster

outside.” He said.

Mr Hogan did not believe Benji. Then, he looked out

the window and he saw the monster.

The monster punched the window and it smashed.

Mr Hogan caught the monster with a net and he put

it back in the sewers.

THE POND MONSTER

Ruby, Kyah, Indi, Alyssa and Kyle walked into

their classroom after lunch, and they saw some

water on the floor.

They followed the trail of the water. The trail led to

the goldfish pond.

Alyssa looked into the pond and she saw a monster.

The monster had big muscles and it was blue. It was

as big as a baby dolphin. The monster was swimming

in the pond and it was trying to find something eat.

It saw Mrs Hanns. It licked its lips. It jumped out of

the pond. It chased Mrs Hanns around the room.

Alyssa, Indi, Ruby, Kyle and Kyah ran out of the

room. They ran to the office. Ruby rang the police.

Kyah rang the ambulance. Alyssa went to see Mr

Hogan.

Mr Hogan and the kids went back to the room. When

they walked through the door, they saw the monster

had eaten the whole class. Mrs Hanns’ feet were

hanging out of its mouth.

Mr Hogan got a knife out of the drawer. He chopped

the monster’s head off. Kyle, Alyssa, Ruby, Indi and

Kyah helped all the kids and Mrs Hanns to get out of

the monster’s tummy.

All the kids took the monster home and cooked it on

the BBQ. They all lived happily ever after, and the

monster went to heaven forever.

THE BLUE MONSTER

Amy went to the door and opened it. A blue monster

with sharp teeth and hairy legs and yellow eyes

knocked Amy over and ran through the door. The

monster had stinking breath.

All the kids were scared. The room got stinky and

the kids ran outside.

The monster climbed up into the fish tank and ate all

the fish.

Riley, Tynen, Brydey and Riley helped Amy to get

up.

The monster jumped out of the fish tank. It ran

across the room to the fridge. It smashed the

fridge open and ate all the food.

The teacher, Mrs Hanns found a net. She gave the

net to Tynen. He ran up to the monster and threw

the net onto the monster. The monster tried to

escape. Brydey had a big jar. She put the jar on top

of the nasty monster. Riley screwed the lid on the

jar.

All of the kids carried the monster to the fridge.

They put the monster in the freezer.

At home-time the kids took the monster out of the

freezer. It was frozen.

They put the monster in Riley’s car. Riley drove his

car out to the dump. When he got to the dump he

got the monster out.

The monster got run over by a car. In the car was

Mrs Hanns. The jar got broken and the monster was

The genie gives you a wish.

What is your wish? What

happens?

One day, I found a lamp in my

you one wish, but you can’t wish for 1 million wishes,”

said the genie.

I said, “okay! I wish that I will have pets at my

house.”

Students were asked to complete the picture

and then write the story.

I was amazed! I couldn’t believe my eyes. A flying

centaur was outside my window. I thought that

centaurs were myths. What!

The centaur vanished into the air. Now, where was

my proof that centaurs exist?

I went down the stairs to my apartment. Then, I

walked out the door. The only proof that I had seen

a centaur was a pile of ash. When the centaur went

birdwatching, in the woods. He did not find the bird

he was looking for, so he went home.

When he got home he made himself a cup of hot

chocolate, and when he turned around, he saw the

bird. “Wow!” said Timothy. He was so happy, but he

he flung it up in the air. It landed, straight on top of
