Message from The President
November is known for so many things,
Autumn leaves of orange, red and gold.
Nature’s gracious gifts and kindness it brings,
With such beauty so easy to behold.
Here’s a wish for happiness and more,
May your days be full of what you’re thankful for.
Yours In Service,
Regina Graham

October TGIF - by Janee Przybyl
No one should’ve been afraid of this big, bad number
The second Friday the 13th of 2017 was a terrific
evening for our Fall TGIF especially since it was
in the spooky month of October. Yes, we had a
wonderful time and no bad luck befell the attendees!
Our hostesses were Jane Tucker Radley and Theresa Pugh. Almost 100 SWC
members including their guests attended the festive event at one or both of the
homes. Phrases like “the best appetizer ever” and “this is a gorgeous home” were
repeated by many. People spilled out into the backyards during the slightly
humid and rain-free Savannah evening. It was a great and safe way to spend
a Friday the 13th.
What is a TGIF party you might ask? It’s when the hostess prepares their
house for guests and the guests bring an appetizer or dessert to share and
their beverage of choice. It’s a simple and popular way to catch up with
your neighbors and see beautiful homes. Theresa and Jane do in fact have lovely
homes that could easily accommodate everyone due to their open concept and party
friendly flow.
If you missed this TGIF, fear not, we are planning another delightful Friday evening
in April of 2018. Watch your email next year for an evite. It’s an event you do not
want to miss!

Southbridge Book Circle – by Betsy Horne
We would like to inform you that there will be some volunteer opportunities
associated with an upcoming SAVANNAH BOOK FESTIVAL in February!
Complete information will be released in next month’s SWC Newsletter.
In the meantime, Save the Date and visit:
www.savannahbookfestival.com
Please share the holiday spirit by participating in the Be A Santa To A Senior
program through the Southbridge Services Group!
How it works: In the month of October, contact Vicki Chubin
[email protected] to stop by her house and pick out a
paper ornament with a senior’s name (and a corresponding list of needs).
You may spend as little or as much as you want, to satisfy one or all of
your selected senior’s needs and place it in a holiday gift bag (no wrapping
please).
Neighborhood drop off location for your Gift Bag (with your senior’s paper ornament) is:
Jennifer Glaser’s Home at 24 Myrtlewood Drive. Jennifer will deliver the gift bags to Home Instead
Senior Care. Their community volunteers and program partners will personally deliver the gifts to
local seniors in time for the holidays.
The holidays can be a troubling time for seniors. They may feel the absence or the distance of loved
ones. “Be a Santa to a Senior” provides a ray of hope for many seniors, and it means so much for
them to know that people care and value them as members of our community.
The Southbridge Service Group is proud to be a part of this community outreach program. Thank
you for helping us celebrate with local seniors!

We completed our Ronald McDonald Family Room project with flair! Gabrielle Franklin made
deliveries on September 20, September 25, and October 2 to the Family Room located in Memorial
Hospital . The following items were donated: 11 cases of water; one case of soda; two large
containers of coffee for brewing; 21 large boxes of individual snacks containing between 20 and 40
snacks per box; and 35 individual serving cups of soup, mac and cheese and other snacks.
"Dear Southbridge Women’s Service Club:
Thank you for helping to provide a home away from home for our families
through your generous donation of snacks to our Family Room.
Best, Ronald McDonald Staff"
As always, the Service Club appreciates the support they receive for their projects from our SWC
members. You make us look good!

The ladies participating in Southern Lifestyles Interest Group met on September 26 to fulfill the theme
Pamper Yourself”! Twelve ladies met at the Savannah Bee Company on Wilmington Island to hear about
bees and how they are organized and work in their hives. They donned beekeeper hats and
observed the bees at work in several hives located behind the retail store. Several beekeepers
explained the seasonal cycle of the bees and their queen and how different types of honey are
developed. The group could be as brave as they wished and touch the manufactured honey in the hives
or simply stand aside and watch! Afterwards, some early Christmas shopping was accomplished!
Afterwards the group met at “Molly McGuire’s” restaurant for a delicious lunch and great
conversation. It was a wonderful day of pampering and fellowship.
