In this occasion, Smt. Monisha Banerjee, IAS, Administrator, RMC and ShriAkhaya Kumar Mallick, OAS(I)-SB, Municipal Commissioner, RMC accompanied with team leader of DFID and Deloitte consultant had a courtesy meeting with Shri JuelOram, Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India at New Delhi.

Ground Breaking Ceremony of Hybrid Toilet

As per Govt. in Housing & Urban Development Department directives and

MOU signed by Rourkela Municipal Corporation with Sulabha International Social

Organization, total 814 nos. of seats of Hybrid Toilet construction target for

Rourkela Municipal Corporation was fixed for the year 2016-17. Accordingly, the

process of identification of suitable land in joint consultation with public

conducted by Rourkela Municipal Corporation and Sulabha. Out of 22 nos. of sites

identified by the Rourkela Municipal Corporation, 14 nos. of location has been

finalized so far and Ground breaking ceremony has been conducted for

construction of Hybrid Toilet at Court premises, Birajapali and Kole Nagar.

Ground breaking ceremony for construction of Hybrid Toilet at 10 RSP sites will

be take up very soon.

Dengue Awareness Drive at PanposhBasti

Dengue Awareness Drive has been organized by the Rourkela Municipal

Corporation in coordination with members of Lead Rourkela, NGO. In this

occasion Shri A.K Mallick, Municipal Commissioner and Shri B.K Mishra, Health

Officer of Rourkela Municipal Corporation has visited various places of Panposh

Basti for lunching of cleanliness and public awareness programme on Dengue.

As a special initiative the thematic cleaning drive has

been taken up by the Rourkela Municipal

Corporation in coordination of Lead Rourkela, NGO.

The activities included cleaning of road, drains to

prevent water logging, bush cutting to prevent

breeding of dengue mosquitoes. Sri A.K Mallick,

Municipal Commissioner and Dr. P.K Nayak, Project

Officer, RMC were present in this programme and

encourage the people to cooperate with the

Thematic Drive of Swachh Rourkela Mission.

Task force committee meeting was held on

26.7.16 at Rourkela Municipal Corporation

regarding sanction of SEP (I) and SEP (G)

loan application under DAY-NULM. 150 nos.

SEP(I) and 10 nos.SEP(G) are finalize to

sponsor different banks. Meeting was held in

the chamber of Municipal Commissioner,

LDM, Bankers, Project Officer, COs and

CMMU were present in this meeting.

Self Help Group meetings were

organized at different places in Rourkela

Municipal Corporation area, where COs,

CMMU, SMMU & ROs were present. A detail

discussion was made with group regarding

how to form groups, sensitization of saving,

Role of office bearer and other aspect of the

SHG ere discussed.

It is also discussed how to maintained different registers such as, Minutes Register,

Cash Book, Loan Register, Loan repayment Register etc. The SMMU present in the meeting

were highly appreciated the role of COs and CMMU for formation of various SHG at different

localities.

Success Story of SEP(I) Beneficiary

Certificate Awarded to Skill Development Trainee

The Employment through Skills Training & Placement (EST&P) Component under NULMis designed to

provide skills to the unskilled urban poor as well as to upgrade their existing skills. The program will

provide for skill training of the urban poor to enable them setting up self-employment ventures and for

salaried jobs in the private sector.

During the financial year 2015-16 Rourkela Municipal Corporation got the cumulative target for 2014-15 &

2015-16 is 2298, out of which 1658 beneficiaries completed training consisting of 67 batches on different

trade by the 11 Skill Training Provider at different location within Rourkela Municipal corporation area. Out

of which 9 batches allotted to 3rd party Assessing Body and 54 batches allotted toRDAT, Hyderabad for

Assessment and the Assessment of all the batched done at Govt. ITI, Rourkela and UGIE, Rourkela.

Assessment of 61 batches have already been completed and so far as today concern Rourkela Municipal

Corporation have received 744 certificates and 375 no’s of certificates distributed through certificate

distribution ceremony to beneficiaries.

Sri KalakarBehera beneficiary of SEP(I) under DAY-

NULM, Gopabandhupali, ward no.5, Rourkela was a

factory labour and his daily income was Rs. 100/200. It

was too difficult to maintain his family having 3

children’s. After getting loan by Corporation Bank

(under DAY-NULM) he started a beetle shop and a

Tiffin stall. Now his wife is also looking after his

business. Now his daily income is Rs. 500/600 (profit).

He has maintained his family very well and financially

improved.

RohitPramanik, a common boy from BPL family, He added his

educational qualifications with a six months Computer Training in

Ultimate Energy Resources Pvt. Ltd., Civil Township under Employment

Skill Training Programe. He empowered during 100 days training

programe and got placed in SAMBANDH FINSERVE Pvt. Ltd, one of the

leading NBFC-MFI company of western Odisha as a Financial

Executive.His zeal to perform adds to the efficiency and has helped him

to gain confidence professionally.

Observation of World Population Fortnight-2016 at MAS Level

City level Task force meeting on Prevention of Dengue & Water Borne Diseases

Orientation of ANMs, ASHAs, AWWs on IDFC & MDD-2016

As part of Malaria Dengue Diarrhea Campaing-2016 the ANMs, ASHAs, AWWs and volunteers from

selective areas were oriented on operational guideline and implementation strategy of MDD campaign.

Microplan of Home visit by ASHAs and volunteers has been prepared Sub center wise under the guidance of

Municipal Commissioner, RMC, Rourkela SDMO cum Nodal Officer, NUHM, Rourkela, Health Officer, RMC,

Rourkela and City programme management unit, NUHM, Rourkela. The campaign is basically observed in

two phases i.e. Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight Activity from 18th July 2016 to 30th July 2016 and

subsequently the second phase started from 1st August 2016 to 15th September 2016. The campaign will

cover the entire Rourkela city with special focus on slums as well as some pockets of non-slums.

The World Population

Fortnigh-2016 was successfully

observed both in the sub centre

and MAS (Mahila Arogya

Samiti) level. The theme of the

year was “Daitwa Tulantu,

Jojana Karantu”. As a part of the

observation the concerned

HW(F)s, ASHAs are motivated to mobilize the eligible couple to adopt family planning methods from basket

of choices. More emphasis was given to adopt IUCD (Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device) 380 A by the target

group. Mahila Arogya Samiti under proactive guidance of HW(F)s, ASHAs, AWWs to leading role for

organizing rally, interface meeting and facilitation of couples who adopted small families.

The city level task force meeting on Prevention of Dengue & Water

Borne diseases was conducted under the chairmanship of Additional

District Magistrate, Rourkela on Dtd: 14-07-2016 in her office chamber

in presence of various line departments i.e. Health, ICDS, U & HD, RSP,

R & B, RD, Transport, Education, Public Information dept., forest and

industry etc. to take a joint effort to overcome the probability of

epidemic situation of dengue which has occurred in the nearby district

and has posed a serious challenge before all. Keeping the same in mind

a concerted effort to prepare a robust action plan for prevention of

dengue in Rourkela city as instructed by ADM, Rourkela.

Special Meetings at slum level under the initiative of

MAS members are conducted with the support of

concerned ASHAs, AWWs, HW (F)s in various slums

along with organizing of Rally involving the

community people, SHG members, CBOs, to increase

the level of awareness of general public on Personal

hygiene, Sanitation, Destruction of Mosquito breeding

sites, ensuring use of Mosquito net, Promotion of hand

washing, Promoting use of Household latrines and

denouncement of open defecation, intake of safe

drinking water etc.

All ASHAs and ANMs have been trained to in order to establish

ORS- Zinc Corner at respective UHND (Urban Health & Nutrition

Day) and Immunization sites with main objectives to enhance

skill and knowledge of proper hand washing as well as

preparation of home based and supplied ORS at household level.

Live demonstration on ORS preparation along with counseling by

ASHAs towards preventive measures of Malaria, Dengue

&Diarrhea has been ensured to continue till 31st August 2016.

5 nos. of hoardings on Dengue have been erected in the different areas

of the Rourkela city like- Malgodam, Balughat, Uditnagar, Panposh,

BisraChowk. Leaflets are printed of suppled to all HW (F)s, CDPOs and

other line departments for distribution among the general public for

wide dissemination of information regarding preventive measures. As

part of sensitization programme an IEC van Nidhi Ratha will be move

around the city from 15th Aug to 30th Aug 2016 which will cover every

pocket of the Rourkela city within the campaign period.
