The national flag was unfurled by Addl. District Magistrate, Rourkela. This was followed by the cheerful tune of the National Anthem and observed the parade of different divisions of armed & un-armed force, NCC cadets, and school & college children’s. Traditional as well as cultural performances were given by school & college children’s on this big day. Republic Day was celebrated at RMC office. The Municipal Commissioner along with Executive Engineer, Health Officer, Project Officer and all staffs were present in the RMC campus. The national flag was hoisted by Municipal Commissioner, RMC and addressed to staffs on the holiness of the day & observation.

EST&P Training Programme under NULM

Employment through Skill Training & Placement (EST & P) under National Urban Livelihood Mission

(NULM) will focus on providing Assistant for development/ upgrading the skill of the urban poor. So as to

enhance their capacity for self employment and salaried employment. EST & P intends to provide training

to the urban poor as per the requirement of the city as per the needs of the city as well as beneficiaries

trade wise training programme is selected. So that the beneficiaries after completion of training programme,

they will avail salaried job or self employment.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is assigned to take up EST & P programme for 2298 beneficiaries

for the financial year 2014-15 and 2015-16. Accordingly Rourkela Municipal Corporation has already

sponsored 2376 nos. of applicant to different Skill Training Providers (STPs) as selected and impaneled by

Govt. of Odisha. There are 11 nos. of STP have taken up 63 nos. of batches of training programme on

different trades such as Computer DTP, Accounting using Tally, Beauty Culture & Hair Dressing, Driving,

Food Processing, Garment Making, Plumber, BPO etc.

The said training programme will be completed in March-2016. As per norms 70% of the total

beneficiaries will be deployed against salaried job and 30% of self employment programme. A special

provision of 3% reservation is made for the differently able person and at least 15% is earmarked for

minorities.

Inauguration of Night Shelter at New Bus Stand Terminal

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is assigned with 540 nos. of beneficiaries to be catered in different

SUH to be constructed in different localities. Where most of the homeless persons are taking shelter at

Railway Stations, Bus Terminals and footpaths.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation has inaugurated Night Shelter at New Bus Terminal to cater 100

beneficiaries with 4200 sq. ft area has been provided by Rourkela Development Authority to function SUH.

Where most of the homeless person from Bus Terminal, Railway Station will accommodate. The SUH was

inaugurated by Hon’ble Additional District Magistrate, Rourkela and Municipal Commissioner, RMC, Supt.

Police, Rourkela, Sub-Collector, Panposh, Tahasildar, Rourkela and Project Officer, RMC was present in

this occasion. The SUH is to be managed by NGOs named “VISSTAR” on yearly basis.

The Scheme of Shelter

for urban Homeless

(SUH) is to ensure

availability and access

of Urban Homeless

population to permanent

shelter and to cater to

needs of vulnerable

segment of urban

homeless and to provide

access to various

entitlements.

In view of growing population & the need of Toilet facilities

at the location near Railway station, Rourkela Municipal

Corporation with support of Akhila Bharatiya Paryavaran

Evam Gramin vikash Sansthan, Patna, Bihar, has

constructed the modern Public Toilet Block near Amar

Bhawan, at Madhusudan Road, Rourkela on Built, Operate

& Transfer ( BOT) mode, which was inaugurated by the

Municipal Commissioner, RMC on dtd. 01.01.2016 in

presence of the Sr. Vice- President of the Akhila Bharatiya

Paryavaran Evam Gramin vikash Sansthan and since then

it has been operated on pay & use basis.

Construction of Toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is provisionally assigned with 6172 Nos. of Individual

Household Latrine to be constructed for the financial year 2015-16 accordingly 4520 no of application

has already been collected, out of which 2850 nos. of application has been registered in online and

742 nos. of beneficiaries has been sanctioned by the RMC.

The four NGOs such as VISSTAR, YAVARD, SRADHA & LOK BIKASH PARISHAD are assigned for

creating awareness, sharing information, educate peoples & communicate activities of SBM as well as

collect the new application from the intending & eligible beneficiaries. They have also to take

motivational aspect and to ensure successful completion of Individual Household Latrine construction

work.

All the NOGs are also directed to motivate the beneficiaries not to use open defecations at the

same time ensure that the beneficiaries is utilizing his Individual Household Latrine properly. After

due motivation and IEC activities duly taken up by the NGOs, now there is huge demand for

construction of individual toilets and the beneficiaries are taking proper steps to complete their

household latrine by utilizing additional funds from their end.

Procurement of New Compactor Garbage Dust Bins

For Swacha Bharat Mission operation one 14 cb. mtr. Compactor mounted on 16 ton tata

chachis which universal lifting system suitable for handling 3 MT and 1 cb. mtr. capacity dust bins has

been procured with an estimated cost of Rs. 33 lakhs. 30nos. 3 MT garbage dust bins and 60 nos. 1 cb.

mtr. capacity fitted with 4 wheel bone has been procured with an estimated cost of Rs. 42.14 lakhs.

The garbage dust bins will be placed at different areas like housing colony, market etc. of Rourkela

Municipal Corporation for collection of garbage through compactor vehicle. The introduction of said

mechanized collection of garbage through compactor will enhance the Swacha Bharat Mission

activities covering large area of Rourkela Municipal Corporation.

Construction of Road at Munda Basti

Construction of Road from NH to Old Munda Basti with

project cost Rs.41.00 lakh has been completed. The

road connecting to Munda Basti is the end of Municipal

area morum metal road. Now it has been constructed

with bitumen road providing guard wall on both side of

the road, which will serve as all whether road.

Construction of Road, Drain & Colverts from Kine

House to Dhabaleswar Colony at Ruptola. It has been

constructed with estimated cost of 29.06 lakhs. The

bitumen road is newly constructed which is connecting

to Ruptola provide with Drain and Culvert which will

stop water logging during rainy season.

Protection of Govt. Land near Laxmi

Temple, Oram Para

After eviction of unauthorized dwelling houses at

Oram para near laxmi temple more than 1.50 acer

of Govt. land has been provided with boundary wall

with an estimated cost of Rs. 20.77 lakhs. The

expenditure on this account of the project is partially

made out of Govt. grant for protection of Govt. land

provided by Tahasilar, Rourkela. Balance fund is

borne out of corporation fund. The land will be

utilized for vertical structure for staff quarter

proposal.

Joint assessment for identification of different

sites for construction of UPHC in RSP area

There are 04 nos. of sites under RSP area like

Hamirpur Sec-19, Sector-06 & Tilkanagar was jointly

assessed by the RSP officials along with the SDMO

cum Nodal Officer, NUHM, Rourkela, CPM, NUHM,

Rourkela, Asst. Engineer, R&B,Rourkela & NHM,

Sundargarh on Dtd.29.01.2016. The upcoming

project will serve many a slum dwellers of health

needs. The construction of UPHCs planned to start

after obtaining of NOC from RSP and other

formalities by R & B,Rourkela Division.

Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI)- 2016

As a part of National Program of the Govt. of India

the 1st Round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization

programme-2016 was undertaken in Rourkela city

from Dt: 17th to 19

th January 2016. There were total

226 nos. of booth were opened in the different area

of the city along with 3 mobile team and 17 transit

team where the 0-5 years children were

administered with pulse polio vaccine on 17th

January 2016. In next two days that is on 18th

& 19th

January 2016 the vaccinator were undertaken the

House to House activity as prescribed. The 2nd

Round of IPPI will be done from 21st to 23

rd February

2016.

District Level Workshop cum ToT on

Introduction of Rotavirus Vaccine

The District Level Workshop cum ToT on

Introduction of Rota Virus Vaccine was organized

on 28-01-2016 at Blood Bank Conference Hall,

RGH. A total of 47 nos. Participants were attended

the workshop from different health Institutions. The

different trainers imparted training were: ADMO

(FW), Sundargarh, SMO, WHO, Sambalpur, MO

I/c, Bisra CHC, VLM, RGH, Rkl etc. The detail

discussion was made on the aims of introducing

Rotavirus Vaccine, benefit of the vaccine, schedule

and doses of the vaccine etc.

The different MAS groups (formed under NUHM,

Rourkela) initiated rallies in the different slum &

Non Slum of Rourkela city with the active guidance

and support of concerned HW (F). The main

agenda of the rally was to sensitize and aware the

community people on different health issues like:

hand washing, personal and environmental

hygiene practices, family planning, safe

motherhood, immunization, UHND etc. In addition

to that also the groups reflected the attention of the

community on the Intensified Pulse Polio

Programme.
