Dear Parents, Carers and Students, Welcome Back! Welcome to the 2020 school year at Eastern Creek. I am sure you have all had a very restful and relaxing summer holiday and many treasured memories. I look forward to an exciting and rewarding year, aiming to make it enjoyable and challenging for your child’s education. A special welcome to our new students and their families, particularly our Preschool and Kindergarten students. I am privileged to start the new school year with the Eastern Creek PS community for my fourth year. We have a number of staff currently on leave and welcome new staff to ECPS for this year: Mr Mellowship, Miss Corkin, Miss Collier, Mr McMasters and Miss Cullen (School Counsellor). Please have a look at our full staff list for all 2020 placements. I would like to thank the whole school community for assisting in preparing all students for a great start to the school year. The staff will endeavour at all times to work and communicate with the students, staff and community, to be a part of the students educational journey in a safe and welcoming learning environment. We look forward to seeing the students flourish throughout their schooling years and strive to achieve their best every single day. Please feel free to see me or call the school if you wish to find out more information at any time.
It was my great pleasure to see the start of our Kindergarten students’ life at school. The staff at Eastern Creek feel that it is wonderful to be able to share in the special moment with the mums, dads, grandparents and friends who come to see their loved ones start school. There were many smiles, lots of hugs and many very excited children and parents! Starting school is a very exciting time for all families and parents and we understand that taking photographs of your children is a beautiful memory you’ll cherish for many years and we encourage you to take lots of your children and family. Could you please be mindful of other students and their families before uploading photos of them onto social media, as we do have some families at Eastern Creek PS who do not consent for their child’s photo to be published. We thank you for your assistance and please speak with me if you’d like any information or clarification. Could you please note that we have formed temporary classes for 2020 this week. Due to a significant increase in enrolments some changes to our current class restructures may occur in the coming weeks. The restructure will include forming a new class. At Eastern Creek Public School we are committed to providing the best educational experience for all and we have considered all possible outcomes in this area and one that will benefit our children. We will provide more information when the restructure occurs and truly thank you for your understanding. We believe in our children and families, and are committed to providing them with a safe and caring learning environment. Thank you for your support as we endeavour to work in partnership with our children and families. If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact myself or your child’s class teacher on 9625 8112.

PRESCHOOL Welcome to our new pre-schoolers! We are slowly meeting our new children in the Adventurers and
Explorers over weeks 2 and 3.
Half of our Adventures started on Monday and are settling in well. It is a big adjustment for children and
families as for some children, it is their first time away from their parents.
Children and families were encouraged to participate in an activity threading beads together. Families
wrote down their wishes for their child’s year in preschool. It was a special and fun way to start the year.
Our Preschool educators are:
Adventurers- Mrs Pettigrove and Mrs Chojnacki
Explorers- Mrs Greenwood and Mrs Chojnacki

This is a reminder that parents have the responsibility for their children’s safety when they are in the council play park. Teachers at the school will be on duty at the school gate and will return children who have not been picked up to the school office in order that parents are contacted. I ask that parents remind their children to be aware of strangers and of the time when they are playing unsupervised at the council play park. Children should be instructed to return home or to the school office if they find themselves without their parent whilst playing at the park. I also ask parents to be extremely careful when driving in the car park. Please be very responsible and be extremely alert for children in the car park. A reminder that signs indicate to reverse park, so parents are not reversing once children are in the carpark. More importantly, if you cannot pick your children up in the afternoon or there is a change as to the procedure you need to contact the school prior to 2.30pm the time taken to get a message to a classroom is not instantaneous, it takes time. If lateness is a regular occurrence then after school care needs to be considered. School ends at 3.00pm and parents need to pick up their children. The school also thanks the parents who are supporting the no entry to the school car park policy. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our children safe! In Cable Place, could you please be respectful and not block the driveways and only park in the legal areas or better still, park in the Cawarra Street carpark.
