Fire Drills are an exercise that we practice in our clinics to ensure that if we have an actual emergency, such as a fire, our employees and our patients know what to do, and even more importantly, stay calm. It is for this reason that fire drills should ALWAYS be taken seriously and practiced as if it was an actual event. Here are some reminders about fire drills:
1. When you hear the alarm, drop everything and leave immediately.
Because we are practicing as if this was an actual event, when you hear the alarm, You need to stop whatever you are currently working on and exit the building. Keep in mind, the alarm will be LOUD, and might stress or agitate our patients. If you are working with a patient, it is your responsibility to get them out of the building as quickly and efficiently as possible.
2. When you leave the building go to the closest exit, regardless of where it’s located.
Some of our clinics have more then one exit out of the building, so when you hear the alarm, go out the clos-est one to you. The idea is to get outside as quickly as possible, and avoid having to be exposed to smoke and the fire. If the closest exit is where the fire is located, go to the next closest one free of fire.
3. Once you are outside, go to the meeting location.
Each clinic has a designated area to meet in case of an emergency. If you do not know where the meeting lo-cation is, ask your Office Coordinator. Once you reach the location, check in with your supervisor and wait there with your patient for further instructions. Keep in mind, your are still responsible for your patient so keep a close eye on them!
4. When the office Coordinator arrives, they will take attendance.
It is the task of the Office Coordinator to grab the sign in sheet when they exit the building. This is because when they arrive at the meeting location, they need to make sure everyone that was in the building is ac-counted for and no one was left behind.
5. Once everyone is accounted for , wait for the okay to return to the building and resume your work day.
Once you are given the all clear to enter the building, go back inside and resume working for the remainder of your shift.
1. where is your clinic’s meeting location?
2. What are you supposed to do when you hear the fire alarm?
3. True/ False: If my client is agitated, I don’t have to take him outside for a fire drill.
4. Why is it important to sign in when you arrive at the clinic?

**IT is
HOT OUT THERE!
Don’t leave your tablets, laptops, or iPhones/phones in your car!
Electronics – Mobile phones, laptops, tablets, cameras and other electronic devices do not deal well
with high temperatures.
Batteries and other components inside the device can leak and fail, turning the device into a paper-
weight. Heat-related damage may not be covered under warranties.
Batteries – Same as electronics. Batteries can deform, leak and even explode when exposed to high heat
for long periods of time.
Congratulations to those who earned a
promotion this month!!
