- Students will not be able to understand a word if they cannot pronounce it correctly. (Gilbert 1984; Nooteboom 1983)

- Students will not be able to pronounce a word correctly if they cannot differentiate the sounds they hear.(Gilbert, 1984; Nooteboom, 1983)

- Students need autonomy.(Hismanoglu 2004)
