Prof. Dr. Feroz Memon, Associate Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Isra University, was the chief guest of this occasion, and he appreciated students by expressing his views regarding the competition. message was displayed on the screen followed by the Poster Exhibition shown by Isra students and Karachi Institute of Health Sciences (KIMS) .The judges gave their decision for 3 best posters awards made by KIMS and 3 best poster awards by 3 rd year MBBS students of Isra University. The topics of best posters were Child Abuse, Malaria and pulmonary TB. Certificates and the cash

prizes were distributed in the participants. Those who participated in Posters competition were Hasnain, Alina and Aisha, Shagufta Naz and Afaq, Kumail, Natasha and Syeda Dua Fatima, Aqsa Gulshan, Yasir and Wardha. A total of 18 posters were displayed in exhibition. The workshop was on the theme of strengthening Research Culture among Medical Students in which the National facilitators and local facilitators were invited to conduct the various sessions. On the first day of workshop i.e. April 23, 2018 following sessions were held: Research and its purpose, How to formulate a Research Question, Study designs for Research, How to conduct literature search, SPSS, Manuscript writing and group

interactive sessions. Over 300 participants were registered in the workshop, 60 computers were used for SPSS Version 23. The students learnt from second day sessions about basic research, sampling procedures, study designs, sample size calculation and the test of significance like Chi-square test and Students t test.Facilitators gave overview of Mandeley and Endnote data

programs during formal and informal discussions. Prof Dr. Shafi Muhammmad Jatoi, Associate Dean Clinical, Prof Feroz Memon and Prof. Salman Kazi visited workshop sessions and appreciated the efforts of Community Medicine Department. They said that this is the evidence based era and research is needed in every medical and health sciences fields. Dr. Kolachi told the western Universities have opened the doors for the communities in selecting research topics according to local health problems and we are also in touch with 20 000 people in Hatri Union Council of Matiari district to survey their major health problems The workshop was supported by HEC and Isra University.

A one day seminar to celebrate the World Health Day 2018 was held on 25th April at Asad Ullah Kazi Auditorium Chaired by Renowned Researcher Dr. Ramesh Kumar, a PhD in Public Health, and Assistant Professor in HSA, Islamabad. The theme of world Health Day was Universal Health Coverage (UHC) the speakers told full packed auditorium with over 600 participants that Universal Health Coverage is to provide needed health care services without financial hardship for every one and everywhere UHC means that all people and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial ruin. UHC enables everyone to access the services that address the most important causes of disease and death and ensures that the quality of those services is good enough to improve the health of the people who receive them. WHO estimates that half of world is without essential health coverage and more than 100 million people become poor as result of paying for health from their pocket about 10% of household income for getting needed quality health care is being spent by 12% world population. Further, they told world has to extend UHC to one billion more health care needy people by 2023. The panel discussion was conducted by Dr Ambreen Sahito in which Prof. Dr. Feroz Memon, Prof. Dr Abdul Sattar Memon, Dr. Rafi Siddiqui, Dr. Iqbal Memon, Dr. Abdul Rahman Pirzado, Prof. Seema Mumtaz, Mrs. Robacca Wilson, Prof. Dr. Shafi Muhammad Jatoi, Prof. Fida Hussain

Shaikh Prof. Hussain Bux Kolachi, Prof. Salman Farsi Kazi, Dr. Sajjad Kazi and Dr. Manzoor Jamli, Dr. Arsalan Uqaili spoke on UHC and other various topics of clinical, surgical, and public health importance and suggested that technology has allowed to reduce treatment and diagnostic time from months and weeks to days and hour hence universal coverage through camps and small health Facilties centres clinics is possible and students, community, private sector and government sector can join hands under Public Private Partnership to provide essential and much needed health care coverage and services to everyone and everywhere whether curative, or preventive or palliative care.WHO Sindh Office Head Dr Sara Salman, Dr Badar Munir sent letter and Video Message of Acting Regional Director Dr. Jaouad Mahjour which was screened and heard by students and other participants with full interest. WHO Sindh Office Head Dr Sara Salman and Dr. Badr Munir suggested during visit before event to Isra University Hyderabad that Family Health Practice Model is way to increase UHC and it will be implemented in two district of Sindh Shaheed Banazirabad and Hyderabad.Moreover, Isra University will be associated in this endeavor. Dr. Mohammad Assai Ardakani WHO Representative for Pakistan was also thankful and appreciated for implementing UHC in Pakistan and launching family Health Practice Project. WHO Team assured to provide publications to Isra Library Hyderabad.

The Department of Cardiology of Isra University Hospital Hyderabad conducted a workshop on Research methodology for Clinical Postgraduate students of Isra University at Isra Hospital library on 17 th April 2018. The workshop was part of series of workshops with the support of OBS Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. Dr. Faizan Shoukat was the facilitator whereas Prof Feroz Memon, Dr. Mohammad Kashif Shaikh, Dr. Shazia Kazi and Dr. Faraz Farooq Memon were the faculty members who oined the sessions along

It was a national level contest to inspire innovative entrepreneurship ideas for venture funding and business growth. It was based on inter institute business plan competition for academic institutes and universities of Pakistan. After excessive rounds of shortlisting, only 23 teams among 52 teams were shortlisted and were able to present their ideas in the final round. Teams were from Sukkur IBA Sukkur, Sindh University Campus Naushahro Feroz, University of Sindh Laar Campus Badin, Bahria University Karachi, Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, Hisha Ideas Hyderabad, Gexton Education Hyderabad, Mehran University of Science and Technology Jamshoro, Szabist Hyderabad and Isra University,

Hyderabad. Out of 23 teams, three teams were awarded with first, second and third positions. The respected judges awarded 1 st Prize to the team of Mehran University of Science & Technology, Jamshoro entitled as “Let Us Communicate”, 2 nd prize was awarded to the team of Isra University, Hyderabad entitled as “The Sewing Room” and 3 rd prize was awarded to the team of HiAST Hyderabad entitled as “MAKTAB.” The respected judges were Mr. Jawad Ahmad (Chief Operating Officer, Logical Technologist), Mr. Zeeshan (Director, Verge Systems), Dr. Vivek Anand (Associate Professor, Isra University, Hyderabad), Ms. Yasra Aslam (Assistant Professor, Isra University, Hyderabad) and Ms. Humaira Jabeen (Senior Lecturer, Isra University, Hyderabad). Session on Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

Isra University Department of Management Sciences organized a session on 07 Habits of Highly Effective People on 27 th April 2018 in Asadullah Auditorium. The 7 Habits motivational session was based on the content from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, authored by Stephen Covey, which is considered one of the most impactful books ever written on personal effectiveness, leadership development and change. The purpose behind organizing this session was to help students lead their life in a truly effective way. The session was attended by various faculty members and Dr Hameedullah Kazi (P.V.C) was the guest of honor, speakers for the session were Miss Annam Inayat and Miss Naina Qadri. Session was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, then speakers one by one presented the seven habits and elaborated how to apply them in daily life. Session came to the end with appreciation speech and certificates distribution ceremony by Dr.

The Certificates and Cash awards were given among the top position’s trainees of the NAVTTC Prime Minister Youth

Final Assessments of NAVTTC Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program, Phase-4, Batch-1 were held on 19 April 2018. In total 125 trainees gave away their assessments in which external examiners also came and conducted the exams in 07 trades i.e. Auto CAD, Book Keeping & Accounting, Graphic Designing, Hardware & Network Technician, Gynae Assistant, Lab Assistant and Dental Assistant. Isra University got Positions Isra University got 1st & 2nd Position in Mid Term Skills Competition in the trade of Graphic Designing on 26 April 2018 at CEAD, Jamshoro. Vijay Kumar got1 st Position while Nida Bhatti got 2nd Position among 16 trainees participating in the competition. Participating trainees were from across all the zones of Hyderabad. The Department of Cardiology Isra University Hospital Hyderabad and Pakistan Hypertension League (Hyderabad Chapter) organized a public awareness program on 15 th May 2016 in connection of World Hypertension Day 2018 at Isra University Hyderabad. Prof. Dr. Feroz Memon and Dr. Shazia Kazi delivered lectures on Prevention & Management of Hypertension. A screening for BP blood was also arranged, about 160 people were screened and consultation was provided to them by experts.The program was well appreciated by all the faculty members and the session was concluded by Dr. Muhammad Kashif Shaikh with the vote of thanks.

Ms. Hina Dastagir in her speech was thankful to the administration of Isra University and expressed that in future Isra University will remain proud partners too. Furthermore, she gave away the certificates in 08 non-medical related Trades of Phase X i.e. CIT, Networking, E-Commerce, Bookkeeping & Accounting, Auto CAD, Electrician, Electronic Technician and Entrepreneurship while she also gave away certificates to 8 medical related Trades of Phase 9 i.e. Dispensary, Laboratory, Blood Bank, OT Technician, Ultrasound, X-Ray, Ophthalmology, Physiotherapy, ECG, Pediatrics and DSA. Dr. Navaid Kazi (Dean Isra Dental College) addressed the importance of clinical case presentation and gave vote of thanks to Dr. Mehwish Memon on her arrival and contribution in Clinical case presentations by final year students was conducted on 17th April 2018 at Isra Dental College Hyderabad. Program was organized by Department of Operative Dentistry at Asad Ullah Kazi Auditorium and Dr. Zahid Iqbal, (HOD & Associate Professor) was the program facilitator. Faculty of Isra Dental College, postgraduate students, house officer and final year

students attended the program. Presentations were evaluated by external Dr. Mehwish Memon (Assistant Professor Operative Dentistry LUMHS Jamoshoro). Nazish Qureshi got the first position. Shield was given to Nazish Qureshi on getting first position by Dr. Navaid Kazi (Dean), Dr. Amtul Kazi (Administrator) and Dr. Zahid. Shield was also given to Dr. Mehwish for appreciation on her valuable contribution for this program.

A technical visit to Pakistan Cables Factory, Karachi was organized on 03 April 2018. In total 18 students from the departments of Computer Science & Electrical Engineering participated in the visit, accompanied by Engr. Saad Baloch & Ms.

Rabia Siddiqui. The students got to know how the cables are manufactured. Moreover, they visited different sections in the factory which included strand section, PVC preparing section, copper wire rolling section, hot copper burning furnace section etc.

Financial management is a core subject in business studies. Purpose of this course is to enhance financial management skills. Keeping in view course’s objective, in order to give in-depth analysis in the subject, guest speaker was invited from the industry on 16 th April 2018. Mr. Tariq Wafai, Assistant Manager, Client Services Securities Services Department, Standard Chartered Bank was the speaker of the day. He gave an elaborated overview of the management of finance in service sector specifically in the context of Pakistan. Audience was the interested students and faculty members in finance. After the session, chair-person of the Department of Management Sciences presented souvenir to the speaker. Session was a learning opportunity for the student and a mean to give insight of the real world.

The management of Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad in collaboration with gastroenterology department and department of management Sciences, Isra University, Hyderabad organized a health awareness program for the students of management and computer sciences on 04 th May 2018. Dr. Nadeem Bajkani, Gastroenterologist was the speaker of session. The purpose of the session was to aware the students regarding the common gastro diseases like Ulcer, Hepatitis and Diarrhea. Moreover, Dr. Bajkani highlighted the prevention of such diseases and answered the queries of students related to the health management.

The Department of Cardiology of Isra University Hospital conducted 2nd Clinical Rotatory Meeting of Pakistan Cardiac Society Hyderabad Chapter for 2018. It was held on 21 st April 2018 at Asadullah Kazi Auditorium of Isra University. Prof Feroz Memon welcomed all the faculty members, post graduate students, medical officers and house officers. Interesting Clinical cases were presented by 3 Cardiac Service providing institutions of Hyderabad. Dr. Bushra Almani from Isra University, Dr. Atia from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and Dr. Abdul Rab Shaikh from Red Crescent Institute of Cardiology presented the cases. Each case was followed by healthy discussion amongst post graduates, consultants and faculty members. In the end Dr. Shazia Kazi thanked all the attendees, organizers and faculty members of Pakistan Cardiac Society for providing such platform for this healthy activity.

Nida Bhatti of Graphic Designing Trade got 3rd Position in Provincial Skills Competition at Marriot Hotel, Karachi in Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program, Phase-4, Batch-1 held on 30 April 2018. She received Cash Award of Rs. 30,000 and certificate from the Chief Guest Mr. Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister, Sindh. Nida also qualified for Final Skills Competition at National Level at Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Engineering & Management Science, Isra University, Hyderabad, Project Head, NAVTTC, Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programs, who was also present on the occasion, congratulated Nida Bhatti on the achievement.

The orientation of NAVTTC Prime Minister Youth Skills Development, Phase 4, Batch 2 was held on 07 May 2018. Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Engineering & Management Science, Isra University, Hyderabad, Project Head, NAVTTC, Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programs gave a presentation to the incoming trainees about the project details. The trainees of 06 trades i.e. Auto CAD, Book Keeping & Accounting, Graphic Designing, Gynae Assistant, Lab Assistant and Dental Assistant attended the session. Dr. Kazi welcomed and also wished the trainees best of luck.
