You will no doubt have seen the stolen, burnt out wreck that sat opposite the school for several weeks earlier in the term. This unfortunate event (especially for the car's owner), provided a valuable learning experience for Year 6 students. We took a walk to the edge of the school property so we could get a beer look at the vehicle. Aſter taking photos with the class iPads, we began to deconstruct what was taking place before us. Our conclusions and questions made for interesting debate within the class. Firstly, it told us something about our world. Namely, we live in a fallen world where man is out of relationship with God, each other and the Creation. Why the car happened to be across from our school, we decided related to our location being isolated and relatively quiet. We concluded the following; the world is full of sin (Emilia), it shows sadness in the world (Harry), and people will go far to hide evidence (Courtney). This says something about us as people doesn't it? Real world learning is about taking opportunities to look outside the classroom. To use what is actually happening and build education upon that which we see. The exciting thing is that more and more of this type of learning is taking place at ICS Tongarra. We want parents and community members to be connected to what is happening in our classrooms here at the school. Using our catch cry of Collaboration and Experimentation, students and teachers in Years 5 - 8 are learning in increasingly adventurous ways. This is creating opportunities to grow our students into the types of people God can use to impact His world. A message from Mr MainaA burnt-out wreck!

You will no doubt have seen the stolen, burnt out wreck that sat opposite the school for several weeks earlier in the term. This unfortunate event (especially for the car's owner), provided a valuable learning experience for Year 6 students. We took a walk to the edge of the school property so we could get a better look at the vehicle. After taking photos with the class iPads, we began to deconstruct what was taking place before us.
