RETURN OF CUPS - URGENT Please return all 2016 End of Year cups and any End of Term Cups to the school office now Thank you.

Lost Property We have a mammoth amount of lost property across all ages this term in the rear of the old library. Please have a look for your child/ren’s clothing and shoes if you are at school over the remaining weeks for any reason. The office is also holding two necklaces, (a tree of life, and a pounamu) and a fold up Kathmandu chair if anyone has lost these items.

Chromebook Raffle Tickets are $10.00 per ticket in the school raffle for a brand new ‘chromebook’. Some tickets are still available from the school Office if any one would like one. Only 100 tickets being sold.

Dear Parents and Caregivers I hope you had a great weekend and are not getting to flustered in the rush we all seem to have in the lead up to Christmas. Our Jiddles Block is now ready for us to move into although the Christmas break will still see a few catch ups. Our aim is to have the students back in by the beginning of next week. Our previous senior block experience tells us that we tend to take back into the block the current furniture layout and then make decisions about what we need as the students’ and teachers begin to live in their new surroundings. Over the coming months new resources and equipment will arrive once we have learnt just how the new configuration will work practically. Last week I sent out a short survey around the pathway to school for our young children. We have had a fantastic response to this and it is very much appreciated. From it we have been able to see already the various early learning options people chose. Interestingly, apart from our local Play centre it is clear many families have to travel a considerable distance in order to access early learning. As our community continues to grow and develop this is important information for the school and various other sector groups including the Education Ministry and local government. Pressure on existing facilities will continue to grow and therefore planning for the future is imperative. We now have our staffing locked in for 2018 and apart from Emma Fletcher and Aneta Smith as I mentioned last week our teaching staff will be largely the same. There will be some movement in regards to where various teachers are and we also welcome Joseph Thomas to the team. Joe is a local young man and has been undertaking relieving work at Pongakawa since his return to New Zealand from overseas. Joe will be working in the Jiddles team next year. Alex Gooding will be working in the Juniors with Mike Judd working more regularly in the seniors. Nikki Jones will be staying with us and Jo Delaere will continue to be working in her middle school class with Jane Hull returning from maternity leave to work as our release teacher. Mike Judd and Kim Jensen will continue to work as our Deputy Principal’s and area leaders for the Middle/Seniors and Junior/Jiddles respectively. Next week in this section I will list in table form the way things look. For those families intending to buy chrome books I have around seven left from the current order. If you would like one saved for your child please let the office know using the form we distributed. If this has become lost, let us know and we can provide another for you. There is lots on over the next few weeks at school so keep an eye out for the alerts on the app and keep this newsletter close at hand. Our final assembly is on Thursday the 14th December and while we are open on the Friday we have always appreciated having this time, with your support in ensuring we are without students as we complete final work for the Ministry, classes and a general tidy. Have a great week Yours in teaching Craig Haggo Principal

Enviro Tip. This weeks tip is: Adopt Reusable Bag Practices

Take reusable bags to the store with you to grocery shop instead of opting for paper or plastic. It’s wasteful and

unnecessary – and several bags with every grocery trip can add up to a whole lot of garbage over a lifetime.
