Our teachers learning
Week 5 already! Students are very busy demonstrating their learning in their whole school assessment tasks. We are very pleased with the continuing improvements and successes of all our students and feedback will be provided through their end of year reports. A big thank you to all of our staff on their continued excellence and commitment to student learning and well-being. A special thank you to Miss M for her fabulous leadership in weekly professional learning and mentoring, assisting staff to continually improve teaching and learning practice. Students and teachers looked fabulous in their special Melbourne Cup hats today. Students will be attending the Life Education Van again this year next Tuesday. A special thank you to the soroptimist ladies who will be providing a free healthy lunch for all staff and students on the day. We wish all our farming families all the best for their harvest. Anne-Moore, Principal
STAGE ONE NEWS
We’ve been reading ‘Tears in the Jungle’. This book was written by two young boys called Daniel and William Clarke. They wrote this to help save orang-utans in Borneo from extinction.
Prime Minister John Howard pledged $500 000 to protect and save the forest. Saving the forest protects the orang-utan’s habitat. Daniel and William want other people to help them save the orang-utans.
You can watch Daniel’s story at http://www.abc.net.au/btn/story/s3456851.htm

The Library is hosting an author visit on Wednesday, 19th November @ 10.30am. Author Bronwyn Hope presents her book “The Breast is History : an intimate memoir of breast cancer. This book is an autobiography filled with humour and philosophy. It is a powerful resource for women dealing with breast cancer, their families and supporters. Everyone is most welcomed to attend with morning tea provided.
Our “Food for Fines” campaign has started again at the Coolamon Library. This is a great opportunity to clear all outstanding fines by donating non-perishable food in lieu of money. All collected food will be donated to St Vincent de Paul in Coolamon. They will then distribute the food to our local families within our shire.
The Coolamon Library is on Facebook! News, pictures, events and opportunities are regularly uploaded – join us now!
