Year 6 farewell
Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in the End of Year Presentation and Concert Night. After weeks of learning lines, countless songs and dances and practice, I was so pleased for the students seeing them on the stage thoroughly enjoying performing on stage for everyone. It was great to see all students choosing to participate in so many scenes with such great joy. It was a wonderful night for us to celebrate our successes together as a school community before the year ends. To our students; thank you for taking advantage of the many learning opportunities that are put before you, for your determined efforts, and congratulations to you on your tremendous achievements. To those students graduating from Matong Public School this year, we wish you well for all that the future holds for you, that at Matong Public School you have been provided with the foundations that will help you achieve your dreams and aspirations. Congratulations to our new school captains for 2015, George Hatty and Connor Smith and to our prefects, Ella Collins and Jaedyn Kreis. We know that you will fulfil your leadership roles to the best of your ability. Thank you all for your support again this year. Teachers, support staff, P&C, parents and our wider community working together in partnership to provide the best opportunities possible for learning to flourish. Together we can achieve great things. My thanks to all of you for your efforts again in 2014.We have a great school which is at the heart of the community. We hope you all have a relaxing and safe Christmas and holiday with your families. Anne-Maree Moore, Principal

THANKS FROM MISS M
We hope you enjoyed “Flat Stanley Travels the World”. Thank you to all parents/carers who did so much work on costumes. Thank you to everyone who ironed costumes before the big night and set up the hall in readiness. Thanks to all students, staff and parents for their contribution but special thanks must go to the Hatty family for sound production and to Mrs Stevie Fisher and her family for their hours of work on the backdrop. Thank you also to Murray Evans for taking photographs of our performance. Congratulations to all our wonderfully talented students you made your school proud once again. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday with your families.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CHANGES FOR 2015 As part of the implementation of changes to the National Standards recently approved by the Minister for Education, holidays taken outside of school vacation periods will now be included as absences. A certificate of exemption can no longer be granted for this purpose. Families are encouraged to holiday or travel during school vacancies. If travel outside of school vacation periods is necessary, families should apply to the Principal prior to the leave to apply for a Certificate of Extended Leave – Holiday. This will only be granted at the discretion of the principal if it is believed to be in the best interests of the student.
