At this stage it looks like the PTFA will have raised over $12,000 which represents an excellent effort. Josh Blackie Scholarship: Congratulaons to Gabriel Tuala who will receive this scholarship for 2013. It was a difficult decision with a number of strong candidates applying for it. In the end Josh make the final decision. Thanks to Josh for his connuing generosity. Prefects Retreat: The Prefects have an overnight retreat at the Franciscan Friary. Br. Damian Price will be leading the Retreat. We are fortunate to have him back to the College as he has a busy schedule but is always willing to include Liston College in it. Open Evening: Parents are invited to aend the College’s Open Evening on Wednesday 10 th April from 7.00—9.00pm. This is an opportunity for you to visit your son’s school. Please invite any friend or family who may be interested in sending their son to Liston College in the future. Parent-Teacher Interviews: A reminder that the interviews will be held on 16 th and 17 th April from 7.00 – 9.00pm. I have arranged for a number of parents to be contacted directly to encourage them to make appointment mes. This is to ensure that we have the opportunity to discuss specific issues which impact on your son’s achievement. I believe one of the reasons for our success in recent years has been the increased involvement of parents and caregivers in the progress of the students. I look forward to meeng you at these meengs. Congratulaons: George Smith in Year 7 represented the College in the recent Western Zone Schools’ Swimming Championship. He was entered in five events – 50 and 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke and 50m Buerfly. George was first in all five events! He will represent Liston College in the Auckland Championships. Benedict Chong Wong competed in the Naonal Athlecs Championships in Auckland. Benedict won the U18 Shot Put tle with a throw of 19.14m. This throw qualifies him for the World U18 Championships in Moscow in July this year. This is a fantasc achievement and we wish him well as he prepares for this event. In the meanme Benedict is working to secure sponsorship to enable him to aend. Benedict represented Liston College at the Auckland Champion of Champions Athlecs Compeon and won the Shot Put tle. He will represent the College in the Naonal Compeon in Hamilton at the end of the year. May God bless you and your families

Ming Cheuk is in a team that has been competing in the Microsoft Imagine Cup, a worldwide competition for students to solve the world's toughest problems with technology. This week they won the national finals

with their product UVSense, a wearable UV monitor which monitors your UV exposure and warns of over exposure through your smartphone. They will be heading to Russia in July to represent New Zealand.

SCHEME The Attendance Dues Sponsorship Scheme - has been created to assist families who may need financial support with the payment of attendance dues, for students attending Catholic schools in the Auckland Diocese, both Primary and Secondary.

The purpose of the sponsorship scheme is to allow parents or caregivers facing financial hardship another option to seek relief where they may be reluctant to approach their school for help.

OPEN EVENING—School Buses In preparation for the Open Evening on Wednesday 10 April the College will be finishing early at 12.10pm.

The buses will be running to the normal bus timetable. If your son requires supervision until the normal time when school finishes and the arrival of his bus – he will need to inform his Form Teacher that he requires supervision until then.

ELECTION 2013

Nominations are invited for the election of four parent representatives to the Board of Trustees.

A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will be posted to all eligible voters on April 15th.

Additional nomination forms can be obtained from the school office.

Nominations close at noon on May 16th and may be accompanied by a signed candidate’s statement. The returning officer reserves the right to edit candidate statements.

The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during normal school hours.

There will also be a list of candidates’ names, as they come to hand, for inspection at the school.
