The goal is to build research and leader- ship skills that can be used to improve or develop a health pro- gram. Participants receive a small grant ($1,000-$1,500) and have the opportunity to apply the skills learned to a health-related project (to be completed over the next 12 months). Apply by De- cember 15. ——–— The Community Health Grant is designed to bring together aca- demic researchers and community organizations/ programs to improve health and well-being in community settings. Each appli- cation must have at least one academic partner and one commu- nity partner. Applicants can receive up to $20,000 for a one-year funding period. New or developing academic-community teams can apply for a Partnership Development Grant of up to $5,000 to support their preliminary research activities focused on health outcomes and impact. For both grant programs, optional letters of intent were due No- vember 15. Final proposals are due January 15, 2018. Contact Stacey Gomes for details. 2017 CCTST Community Health Awards Announced The CCTST Community Advocacy, Partnership and Research Awards honor excellence in leadership, collaboration, and health promotion in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region. 2017 Awardees were recognized at the CCTST Community Din- ner and Awards Ceremony November 14 in Music Hall's Corbett Tower, which also featured keynote speakers Alondra Nelson, PhD of Columbia University and Vence Bonham, JD of the Na- tional Human Genome Research Institute. Pictured at left are Community Health Advocate Award winner O.N. Ray Bignall II, MD, and Lori Crosby, PsyD of the CCTST Community Engagement core. Congratulations to all of our awardees! Read more CCTST Grand Rounds December 15 Translating Evidence into Practice: Advancing the Applica- tion of Dissemination and Implementation Science is the top- ic of our December 15 Grand Rounds, 12-1 PM in 2351 MSB. Featured presenters are Elaine Morrato, DrPH, MPH, associate dean for public health practice, Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado and Michael Seid, PhD, director of health outcomes and quality care research, pulmonary medicine and James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence, Cin- cinnati Childrens. It takes, on average, nearly 2 decades to translate clinical re- search innovation into practice, and even then the uptake of new evidence is uneven. The field of dissemination and implementa- tion (D&I) science focuses on accelerating the translational pro- cess through deliberate application of social science frameworks and theories. Deadline for abstract submission is February 10, 2018. Award-winning poster authors will be invited to present a brief overview of their work in the Poster Symposium, to be held in conjunction with the Poster Session.
