Prayers of the People 15 September 2019

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Anglican Church of Tanzania. In our Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for St. James, Leitrim, All Saints, Greely, and St. Mary’s, Russell. In our Parish, we pray for Donna James, Vinitha Jayawardina, Barclay Johnson, Shawn Joseph and Suzane Thomas, and all who look to our Parish as their spiritual home. We remember those for whom our prayers have been asked: Patricia Boyce, Geoffrey, Joshua, Roger Beland, Emma and Family, Harvey Cottrell, Vera Iodko, Sarah F, The Rev. Deacon Henry Stauffenberg, Jarod, David Blackman, Murray Nash, Polly Dougherty, Issac, Emily, Mary and Rob, Ronald Bentley, the people and clergy of the diocese of the Arctic, Bishop John Chapman, Bishop William Love, Fr. Outreach

Laurena Nash will be cycling 50km with Ride for Refuge on October 5th, fundraising for Matthew House Ottawa, which provides refugees with shelter, support and community, and runs a furniture bank for low income folks. If you are interested in supporting this ministry, Laurena will be taking cheque/cash donations after mass or you can email [email protected] to get the link for online donations.

The Centretown Churches Social Action Committee will host the annual Walk for the Centre to raise funds for the Centretown Emergency Food Centre on October 6th. For more information, please speak to Yvonne Moses, or contact the website at http://centretownchurches.org/walk/.

“The Letters of St Paul”. You are invited to join Canon David Raths in the Library every Tuesday as we listen to and discuss the letters of Paul, beginning with Galatians. We begin at 7:00 pm and finish at 8:30 pm with Compline.

Please join us for Solemn Evensong and Benediction on Sunday, October 6th at 7:00 pm. (note change of date), which will include music by Derek Holman, C. Armstrong Gibbs, Stephanie Martin, Healey Willan and Felix Mendelssohn. The service will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.

St. Luke’s Table is once again in need of yogurt and margarine containers with lids, and anything suitable for food storage in the fridge/freezer.

The choir’s CD recording “Exsultate Deo” is available at $20 after mass today.

The Scandal of Division and the Promise of Unity: A presentation by the Rev. Amanda Currie, Moderator of the 2019 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, this Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 pm at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 729 Bank St.

We thank Donald Russell for playing the organ and conducting the choir this morning. Wesley Warren is away on holiday.
