For the past eight years, The Bull Moose Festival, has been Roosevelt’s signature event. The City of Seattle has watched this event grow over this period of time and supported the efforts of our community to build our own sense of identity. Neighborhood festivals are an integral and vital part of showing the solidarity of all individuals, families, businesses and organizations involved in development of a community and the commitment to the diverse elements that make up an engaged neighborhood.

The Bull Moose Festival is committed to promoting volunteerism and educating the community on sustainable, healthy liv-ing and being prepared for serious and unexpected events. That being said…. It is also a time for fun and entertainment and supporting local artists, businesses, and organizations. It is a celebration of who we are and where we are going. We hope that you will join us and share any ideas you have for future events.

Eight Bells Winery, jointly owned and operated by Tim Bates, Frank Michiels and Andy Shepherd, is a small urban winery in the Roosevelt/Ravenna neighborhood producing hand-crafted red and white wines. The nautical measure of time has traditionally been the ringing of a bell, one strike for each half hour of a four-hour watch. At the Eighth Bell the sailor’s watch is over. To us, Eight Bells Winery marks a change in our careers and an opportunity to take our winemaking skills to a new level; to our customers, we are saying it’s time to enjoy some wine. Eight Bells purchases the highest quality grapes from Eastern Washington and Western Oregon. Our main grape source is Red Willow Vineyard, one of the heritage vineyards in Washington State. We currently produce Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sangiovese, Syrah, and several Bordeaux blends. We also produce two neighborhood wines, a Roosevelt Red and a Ravenna White.
