Snow White and Seven Dwarfs

Once upon a time in a great castle, there was a beautiful princess. She was

very pretty, with blue eyes and long black hair. Her skin was delicate and white, and

so she was called Snow White. Snow White had a step mother who was always

jealous of Snow Whites beauty. Her step mother too was very beautiful, and the

magic mirror told her this every day, whenever she asked it.

One day, the step mother asked the magic mirror who the loveliest lady in

the land was and the magic mirror answered Snow White was the loveliest in the

land. !he step mother was very mad. !hen he asked her trusty servants to take

Snow White into the forest, far away from the "astle and killed her. #ut the servant

didnt kill Snow White, He led the innocent little girl away. $n the forest, little Snow

White was alone and scared. She didnt know where she should go. #ut suddenly

she saw a small strange cottage. She wondered who lived there, then she entered

the cottage.

$nside the cottage, there was % beds and a kitchen. Snow White was to tired

to e&plore the cottage, and suddenly fallen a sleep. $n the afternoon, the seven

dwarfs who lived in the cottage, came home. !hey surprised to see there was a

young lady there. One dwarf woke her up and asked who was she. Snow White told

them her sad story. !he seven dwarfs understood the feeling of Snow White and

asked her to live with them in the cottage.

'eanwhile in the castle, the servant came back and told to the step mother

that Snow White was killed. !hen the step mother asked the magic mirror once

again who the loveliest in the land was and still the magic mirror answered the

Snow White who lived in the small cottage with seven dwarfs was the loveliest one

in the land. So the step mother was angry and she planed something bad to SnowWhite. !hen the step mother disguising herself as an old woman who sold a basket

of poisoned apples and went to the cottage. $n the cottage, the seven dwarfs

warned Snow White to not open the door to the stranger. !he step mother (nally

arrived to the cottage and began to o)er Snow White an apple. Snow White refused

to open the door but the step mother kept persuading and (nally Snow White

opened the door and brought an apple then he ate it. So Snow White fallen down

with the poisoned apple beside her.

$n the afternoon, when the seven dwarfs came home, they were surprised

with Snow White who laid down on the *oor with pale face and a poisoned apple

beside her. !he seven dwarfs were sad seeing the Snow White was dying but not dieyet. !hen the seven dwarfs decided to make a beautiful bed made from a crystal

co+n to make Snow White keep alive. Day by day, the seven dwarfs waited for the

miracle came when Snow White suddenly woke up. !hen one day, there was a

wanderer who actually a prince from far away kingdom saw a beautiful lady was laid

down on crystal bed. !he wanderer asked the dwarfs what was happened and the

dwarfs told him the story.

Heard the Snow Whites story, the prince decided to carry her to his "astle

and asked the doctor to help her. !hen the prince kissed her to show his intention.

#ut suddenly Snow White was back to life. !he fact was that the princes kiss broke

the spell. !hen the prince asked Snow White to marry him. rom that day on, Snow

White lived happily in a great castle. #ut from time to time, she was drawn back to

visit the little cottage down in the forest.

Sangkuriang

$n ancient times, there was a girl named Dayang Sumbi who lived in West

-ava. She was also a clever and mart girl. !he prince of heavenly kingdom of

ahyangan fell in love with her beauty and intelligence. He wanted to make Dayang

Sumbi as his wife. /rince came to his father and asked for his permission to marry

Sumbi. !here was a rule that people from ahyangan could never live along the

human. #ut, his father gave prince a permission with one one condition. When they

had a child, the prince had to transfrom into a dog. !he prince accepted his fathers

condition.

One day, the prince and Sumbi got married and lived happily in the jungle.

!hen, Sumbi gave birth to a son. So, the prince kept his promise to change into a

dog named !umang. !heir son named was Sangkuring. He was very handsome like

the prince. 0very day, he went to hunt animals in the jungle. One day, when

Sangkuriang was hunting for the animals, he unintentionally killed !umang. He

missed his shot and the arrow hit !umang. !hen, he went to home and told his

mother about the dog. 1What did you do21 She was so angry and took a cooking

tool. She hit Sangkuriangs head with it. She was so sad and cried a lot. 3ooking his

mother cried, Sangkuriang felt sorry to her. However, he was confused. He tought

his mother loved a dog more than him. !hen, he decided to leave his mother for a

journey. $n the morning, Sumbi felt better and stopped crying. She went to the

jungle to (nd Sangkuriang. However, she could not (nd him. She was e&hausted

and decided to go to house. $n her dream, she met her husband. 1'y love, dont be

sad. !ake my heart from my body. !hen, soak it with the water, use the water to

bath. 4ou will look young forever.1 said her husband. She followed the princes order.

So, she looked more beutiful and younger.

5fter many years, Sangkuriang stopped in a village when he was on a journey.

$n the village, he met a beautiful girl and fell in love with her. He wanted to marry

the girl he loved. He didnt notice that the village was his homeland. 0ven, the

beautiful girl he loved was his own mother, Dayang Sumbi. One day, Sangkuriangasked Sumbi to (& his turban on his head. Sumbi was so shocked when she (nd the

scar on Sangkuriangs head. 5 scar was at the same place where she hit

Sangkuriangs head in years ago. !hen, Sumbi asked a guidance from the 6od. 5fter

praying, she was sure that the young man was Sangkuriang. She decided to prevent

Sangkuriang for marrying her. However, she didnt want to hurt him bya cancelling

the wedding. So, she had a condition for Sangkuriang. Sangkuriang had to make a

lake and a beautiful boat in one night. Sangkuriang took her challenge without a

doubt because he had mastered some strong magics. 5fter the sun set, he went to

the hill. He called many genies to help him. He commanded the genies to build a

lake. He also gave an order to genies to make a big boat from the trees. $n short

time, Sangkuriang and his genies almost (nished their work. Dayang Sumbi

reali7ed that Sangkuriang would (nish her order. She immediately asked all the

women in the village. She asked them to make a wave from a long red scarf. $t

looked as if the sun would rise immediately. !his condition made the roosters

crowing. !he farmer also prepared to go to paddy (eld.

!he genies immediately stopped their work and left Sangkuriang alone.

Sangkuriang was so angry because he could not (nish his work. He was failed to

marry Sumbi. He kicked the un(nished boat with all of his power . $t *ew and landed

on a valley. 5fter landed, the boat turned into a mountain which is called mount

!angkuban /erahu until now. He also kicked the lake. !he water drained from the

lake and

$n ancients times, there was an empire named /rambanan. 0very people in

/rambanan lived calmly and peacefully. 9ntil, the /engging kingdom attacked this

empire. !hen, the king of /engging kingdom ruled /rambanan.. His name was

#andung #ondowoso. He was a greedy and mean king. He also had miraculous

power. He had humans and genies soldier.

!he king of /rambanan had a daughter named 8oro -onggarang. She was

very beautiful. 9nfortunely, #andung #ondowoso fell in love with her beauty. He

really wanted to marry -onggrang. 14ou are very attractive, do you want to be my

lady21 asked #andung #ondowoso. -onggarang was surprised and shocked with his

re:uest. She didnt want to marry a man like #ondowoso. She wanted to say no, but

she was afraid that #ondowoso would be mad and angry. She was also afraid that

he would endangered her people of /rambanan. !hen, she had a plan.

1$f you really want to marry me, $ give you one night to construct a thousand

temples.1 Said -onggrang. 1!hat is useless; $ cant build it in one night;1 said

#ondowoso. #ut, #ondowoso did not give up. He came to his adviser. 1Oh my king,

you can asked your genies to help you with her re:uest.1 Said his adviser.

So, #ondowoso called all of his genies. He gave them instruction to build a

thousand temples. !he speed of temple construction was so :uickly. 5t the same

time, -onggrang heard from her assistant that the temple construction was almost

(nished. She was so an&ious. !he, she had another great idea. She called every

servant to help her.

1/lease help me to prepare a lot of straws and mortars.1 5sked -onggrang.

1#urn the straws and make some noise from the mortars.1 5ll of her servants did

what she asked. !he sound of mortars and the burning straw fooled the genies.

!hey thought the sun was going to rise. 1$ts dawn, we have to go.1 said one of the

genies to #ondowoso. !hey was afraid os the sun. So, they stopped their work and

left #ondowoso. !hey didnt know that -oggrang tricked them with the burning

straws and pounding mortars.

#ondowoso could not stop the genies from leaving him. He was mad. He

knew that -onggrang had tricked him. 14ou cant trick me, -onggrang. $ have already

made

4our coach will turn back into a pumpkin, the horses will become mice and you will

be dressed again in rags with clogs.

5t the ballroom, "inderella ama7ed everybody there include the prince. When

the prince set eyes on "inderella, he was stuck by her beauty. Walking over to her,

he bowed deeply and asked her to dance. "inderella had a wonderful time at the

ball. #ut, all of a sudden, she heard the sound of a clock, the (rst stroke of midnight.

8emembered what the fairy had said, "inderella ran back to the coach and wenthome. #ut he lost one of her slippers in ballroom. !he prince who was now madly in

love with her, picked up her slipper and would search for the girl whose foot (tted

with the slipper.

$n the ne&t morning, the prince began to search everywhere in the kingdom

but no girl whose foot (tted with the slipper. 9ntil he found "inderella house and

asked "inderellas stepsisters to wear the slipper. #ut none (tted with the slipper.

!he prince began hopeless.1$s there any girl else here1 5sked the prince. 14es, there

are. #ut she is very ugly and $ think she is not the girl that you are looking for.1

replied "inderellas stepmother. 1"all her here;1 5sked the prince. !hen "inderellas

stepmother called "inderella to come out who was dressed in rags and wore clogs

like usual. !he prince began to wear the slipper into "inderella foot, and it was (t.

!he prince believed that "inderella was the girl he met in the ball. !hen the

prince asked "inderella to marry him. 5nd at the end, "inderella and the prince

lived happily ever after in the kingdom.

#eauty and !he #east

Once upon a time there was a merchant who had three beautiful daughter,

/rettiest, Sweetest, and #eauty. One day when a merchant set o) for market, the

three of his daughter asked him something. /rettiest wanted a brocade dress,

Sweetest asked a pearl necklace but #eauty just wanted a rose. When the

merchant had (nished his business, he set o) for home. However, a sudden storm

blew up and he should found a shelter to take a rest. !hen he saw a big castle but

there was none there and he decided to take a rest there.

$n the morning, when he left the castle, he saw a beautiful rose in castle

garden. 8emembering his promise to #eauty, he bent down to pick a rose. #ut

suddenly a horrible beast came out. !he beast was angry because he found there

was someone who stole his rose. !he beast wanted to kill the merchant. #ut the

merchant was begging to apologi7e him. !hen he told that his youngest daughterwanted a rose when he came back to home. 1$ shall spare your life, but on one

condition, that you bring me your daughter;1 said the beast. !he merchant came

back to his home with sad looking face. He told the story to his family include to

#eauty. 1Dear father, $ would do anything for you; Dont worry, $ will live with the

beast and save your life;1 Said #eauty.

!hen #eauty began to live with the beast in the castle. $n the beginning,

#eauty was frightened of the #est but later she (gured out that actually the beast

was good and kind. $n a short time, #eauty and the #east became good friends.

!hen one day, the #east asked #eauty to be his wife. !aken by surprise, #eauty said

no to the #east proposal. #ut the #east was not getting mad of it. $n the ne&t day,

the #east brought #eauty the magic mirror which could see her family, far away.

5nd one day, #eauty saw that her father was in serious sick. She asked the #east to

let her looked after her father. !he beast could not deny but there was a condition

that #eauty should come back in % days. #eauty thanked the #east so much. so she

was back to her family and looked after her father.

!he merchant fallen ill from broken heart at knowing his daughter was being

kept prisoner. When #eauty stayed with him, the merchants condition was getting

well. However, #eauty forgot her promise to come back in % days. $n the night,

#eauty had a nightmare. She had a dream that the #east was dying. #eauty was

afraid, then she decided to come back to castle immediately $n the castle, she

found the #east lied down on the ground with its eyes shut. #eauty was sad, then

she hugged the #east and said that she would marry the #east. Suddenly a miracletook place. !he #east magically turn into a handsome man.

15ctually, $ am a prince of this castle. 5 bad witch turn me into beast and only

real love of a maiden willing to accept me as $ was, can transform me back to

normal. !hen #eauty and the prince was married and live happily in the castle.
