Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) hosted a congratulatory

program in honor of newly elected executive members of Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) on June 23, 2019 at Hotel Vaishali, Thamel

The program was chaired by HAN

president Mrs. Shreejana Rana and she stressed on the need to join hands for desired growth in tourism sector. Mr Raju Man Dongol, Vice President and Mr Samir Gurung, IIP of TTDC also requested HAN to take a lead and spearhead a campaign for which TTDC would render full support.

Condolence Meet

In remembrance of the founder President and

President Emeritus of HAN Late Mr. Prabhakar SJB Rana, a condolence meet was organized on 5th June 2019 at HAN Secretariat. Executive members of HAN, Past President Council and member hotels of HAN gathered for the ceremony to offer prayers for his heavenly abode.

On the 31st of May, Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Center (CWIN-Nepal) organized a research dissemination programme of the research entitled ' Situation Assessment of young Women in Tourism Sector in Nepal" in collaboration with Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and in partnership with Plan International Nepal.Mr. Tek B. Mahat, Chief Operating Officer of HAN, joined the program and emphasized to bring programs that encourage women in tourism industry. He also received the report submitted to HAN.

CWIN Research Dissemination Program

SHAN AGM1st VP Mr Binayak Shah represented as Chief Guest for the 5th AGM and Installation program of Siddhartha Hotel Association (SHAN) at Bhairahawa. Visit Lumbini Year 2076, VNY 2020, Role and Support of Central HAN to its Chapter were some of the important agendas deliberated at the program. HAN Central Member Mr CP Shrestha was reelected as the President of SHAN. Treasurer Mr Vishal Kumar, Executive Members Mr Youb Raj Shrestha, Mr Gopal Rana and Asst. Manager Mr Laba Karki attended the program.

HAN and NATTA past president meet held at Hotel Ambassador on 9th June 2019. A brief condolence ceremony for late Mr Prabhakar SJB Rana was also organized at the meet. Past President Council Coordinator of HAN Mr. Yogendra Shakya and NATTA Past President Mr RR Pandey shared their views on the role of Past Presidents. HAN President Mrs. Shreejana Rana and NATTA President Mr. CN Pandey also spoke on the role of Past Presidents' Council which should serve as a beacon of light.

President Mrs Shreejana Rana met with vice president of NRNA on 7th June 2019. The meeting dwelt on issues of Nepal promotion by means of joint effort in the international arena. Issues of mutual benefits and collaboration were also discussed. Meanwhile, NRNA vice president Mrs Sapila Rajbhandari invited HAN president Mrs. Rana as special guest to attend NRNA Regional Meeting in Italy.

Joint Meeting on the issue of 'Tourism Service Operation and Regulation Guidelines in Conservation Area, 2075' was chaired by Secretary General Mr Sajan Shakya at HAN secretariat. Secretary of NATTA, TAAN, NMA and NARA treasurer attended the program. Past President Mr Prakash Shrestha also joined the meeting and shared his expertise on the suggestions to be provided to the ministry. Mr. Ghanendra B. Shrestha, former HAN Treasurer attended the meeting in the capacity of consultant/advisor.

A panel from CII, Confederation of Indian Industry visited HAN in the presence of President and 2nd VP to brief on the possibilities of Medical and Wellness tourism in Nepal. The meeting also dealt with the concept of affiliating with CII in the nearest future. The meeting was chaired by HAN President.

AN AUDIENCE WITH KARNA SHAKYA, "Tourism with Purpose' attended by President Mrs Shreejana Rana.

HAN team led by President Mrs Shreejana Rana held an intensive discussion with the representatives of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, including Deputy Mayor and officials, on the much discussed issue of 'Property Tax. HAN strongly objected and protested on the present structure of 'Property Tax' imposed for hotel industry. KMC has started working out on it after listening to the views of President Mrs Rana, 1st VP Mr Shah, Secretary General Mr Shakya and Legal Advisor Dr. Pandit.

President Mrs. Shreejana Rana along with ECM Mr. Youb Raj Shrestha, Mr. Rahul Shakya, Ms. Bidhata Shrestha and Silver Mountain MD Mrs. Ava Shah called on the GM of TIA. The team visited various parts of airport and looked at possibilities of enhancing its present standards.

HAN team (IPP Mr Amar Man Shakya, 1st VP Mr Binayak Shah, Secretary General Mr Sajan Shakya) accompanied by trade union president/representative met with Hon'ble Minister of MoLESS Gokarna Bista at his office and drew attention concerning 'Social Security Fund' and problems facing in applications especially by 'Small Hotels'

VNY2020 organized Tree Plantation Program on 27th June 2019 to make the airport more welcoming and enduring for the locals and Tourists. President Mrs Shreejana Rana and EC Mr Youb Raj Shrestha joined and planted 150 Weeping Bottle Brush Trees along with 30 other species of plants along with Secretary of Tourism Ministry, GM TIA, VNY2020 Coordinator, Miss Nepal and NTB Members & Others at TIA New Arrival Terminal.

Dissemination Workshop on OHS Situation assessment of Hospitality sector was conducted at Chitwan on 12th June 2019 under the leadership of Central EC member Mr. Gyanendra Kumar Bista.

Paschimanchal Hotel Sangh Pokhra in association with Food Technology and Quality Control Division Kaski organized training program on Food Hygiene at June 7, 2019. Chefs and hotel & restaurant staffers attended the program.

Interaction with Tourism minster (province 1) Jagdish P Kurasi and stakeholder on challenges of Tourism Industry in province no.1. HAN Executive Committee Member and President of Regional HAN Biratnagar Mr. Rajan Shrestha attended the program.

TAAN felicitated HAN Executive Committee Members at Gokarna House, Thamel on 21st June 2019. Addressing the meet, President Mrs Rana put an emphasis on concerted effort for the development of tourism.

2nd VP and chairman of Hotel Standardization and IT Committee Mr Prabin Panday chaired the meeting on review HAN website in the presence of Web designer. Digitization and smart work including 'HAN App' were discussed in the meeting. ECM Tseten Tsatultsang, member of the committee, rendered pertinent feedback for introducing digital activities.
