Principal’s Report

Curriculum - Health and Personal Development

Once a week each class teacher has ‘release from face to face’

time to schedule parent meetings, provide feedback to

students on their learning, reflect upon teaching practices and

plan engaging learning experiences for the students. During

this time the classes have lessons in ‘Health’, ‘Personal

Development’, Library and reading comprehension strategies.

During Term 3 the three classes have had lessons in the topic

– ‘How can I keep myself and others safe?’ During learning

experiences students have explored ways to support them to

make healthy, safe decisions, seek good support and keep

active. I encourage you to talk to your child about the

importance of undertaking regular physical activity, eating

healthy foods and having a positive mindset to promote good

health and wellbeing. In particular, I hope that you discuss the

benefits of having ‘less screen time’ and the importance of

‘cyber safety’. It is never too early to start talking to children

about safety online.

Social Media and Children

Recently there have been media reports about very serious

breeches of content on social media, including sites that can

be easily accessed by children. This highlights the importance

of monitoring what your children are accessing online, and

ensuring they know how to seek support when it is required.

A family tech agreement is one way to achieve good

communication around the use of social media in your family.

It is a set of rules about how devices, like smartphones,

tablets, computers, TVs and gaming consoles are used in your

home. It is written down and agreed to by all family members

and kept in a place where everyone can see it (such as on the

fridge).

website, including where to report issues of abuse and

concerns: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/

School Communication - MPPS

The staff at Mount Pleasant Public School would like to

collect some information regarding the best ways to

communicate with our families during this time, where

COVID-19 restrictions are present. In order to achieve

this we have created a Survey on Google Forms.

Use the link below or scan the QR code with your

phone to access the survey. We would appreciate if you

could fill in all questions and submit your response by

the last day of this term, 25th September.
