For those with an associate degree or other collegecredit, MSOE provides a convenient way to complete abachelor’s degree*. MSOE values your prior academicaccomplishments and most students with an associatedegree are granted junior standing. You can completeany of these degrees through evening classes. In somecases, you will be able to take weekend and blendedInternet classes.

When applying for these bachelor of science degreeprograms, your college transcripts are evaluated andoften times you will be given credit for courses taken at atechnical college or other institution so you can graduatein as little time as possible.

Bachelor of Science in BusinessManagement

e business management degree combines business withtechnology – how to use it and how to manage it in business settings.You will learn management fundamentals and develop skills to usetechnology to create management solutions and new businessmodels. It is an especially attractive option for those considering acareer change, or who have found their career path limited by thelack of a formal degree in a business-related field. ose studying full-time can complete the degree in two years by attending classes twonights per week and an occasional Saturday. Bachelor of Science in ElectricalEngineering Technology

is degree is designed for those who seek a bachelor of sciencedegree with an electrical and electronics emphasis. It appeals to thosewho learn best by experiencing what they are learning, who prefer theuse of specific examples to help them learn general concepts and whofavor physical concepts to clarify mathematics. Graduates with thisdegree may develop and design products and components, work withapplications of components and systems, engage in field service ortechnical sales, be involved with the manufacturing, testing or qualityassurance of products and more. MSOE has agreements with severaltwo-year colleges in Wisconsin and Illinois that grant students juniorstanding when enrolling at MSOE.

Bachelor of Science inEngineering

MSOE is the only university in the state where you can earn anengineering degree entirely through evening courses. is is a technology-oriented leadership program designed to meetthe needs of engineers, business managers and other professionaland technical persons desiring to strengthen their management andleadership skills specifically relating to the value-added exporting ofU.S. manufactured products, services and technology. Master of Science in MedicalInformatics (MSMI)

is joint degree combines the medical research and educationof the Medical College of Wisconsin and MSOE’s business andinformation technology expertise. It prepares professionals toparticipate in and lead multidisciplinary teams in thedevelopment, implementation and management of informationtechnology solutions in health care. Medical informatics is theapplied science at the junction of the disciplines of medicine,business and information technology, which supports the healthcare delivery process and promotes measurable improvements inboth quality of care and cost-effectiveness. Master of Science in NewProduct Management (MSNP)

is degree emphasizes building structural design and analysisand meets the needs of architectural, civil or structural engineerswho desire increased knowledge to design modern buildingstructural systems. The following programs require students to attend full-time, with classes meeting during the day.

Master of Science in Cardiovascular Studies (MSCS)is degree is ideal for engineers seeking a greater background in the medical sciences, individuals with science degrees who are interested

in learning more about instrumentation, modeling and research, or perfusionists who want to expand their education but do not need theclinical experience of the MS in Perfusion program. It is designed to complement students’ undergraduate education by providing anopportunity to expand their knowledge in the areas of cardiovascular health sciences, physiologic modeling and research methods.

Master of Science in Perfusion (MSP)is degree provides a quality didactic and clinical education for those who want to become perfusionists. e clinical perfusionist is

involved in cardiopulmonary bypass, patient monitoring, blood conservation (cell salvage, modified ultrafiltration and plasmapharesis),intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP), ventricular assist devices (VAD), total artificial heart placement (TAH), selection of equipment andbiomaterials, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), etc. Advances in biomedical technology have greatly broadened the scopeand responsibilities of perfusionists.

Undergraduate CertificatesCertificate-level training is conducted to provide a rapid means

to transfer knowledge. Participants are tested upon completion ofthe certificate program to demonstrate an understanding of thematerial. Some certificates are eligible for academic credit. Withothers, CEUs are awarded to participants. Some of the certificatesavailable through MSOE include:

Undergraduate Admission

Students wishing to attend MSOE on a part-time basis may doso by completing the following steps:

1. Complete the free online application at www.msoe.edu/apply. Fromthe Graduate, Part-time, and Certificate tab, select UndergraduateApplication.

2. Mail the appropriate transcript(s): • Students who have earned 24 semester or 36 quarter college

credits should have their official college transcript(s) sent fromeach college they previously attended.

• Students who have completed fewer than 24 semester or 36quarter credits should have their official college transcript(s) sentfrom each college they previously attended, in addition to theirhigh school transcript (and G.E.D. test scores if applicable).

• Students with no previous college experience should have theirofficial high school transcripts (and G.E.D. test scores, ifapplicable) sent.

Please note that for a transcript to be “official” it must be mailed to MSOE directly from the issuing educational institution.

Admission StatusUndergraduate students may take classes under the followingadmission status to help ensure they can easily start theirindividual educational plan:Full acceptance: Students are admitted directly into their programof study.Non-matriculated status: Students have satisfied all admissionrequirements to be considered for full acceptance but have notbeen accepted to an academic program may take up to threecourses (nine credits) for one quarter. Non-degree status: Students have not been admitted to a programof study(s) but may complete up to 30 credits in their area ofinterest. Non-degree students must demonstrate that they havemet prerequisites for the courses.

Cardiovascular Studies (MSCS)1) Applicants must have earned a bachelor of science degree in

an appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology,biomedical sciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale).

2) At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy andphysiology) is required. Recommended course work includesbiochemistry, math, physics, and statistics.

3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percent or better.

4) Two letters of recommendation, ideally from former teachers.

Construction and Business Management(MSCBM)1) A bachelor of science degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction

management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, etc.).2) Full-time work experience in construction or a related industry. At

least two years is expected. is requirement will be waived forapplicants who will be working full-time in such a position whileenrolled in the program.

3) Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheetsoware, and a personal computer (laptop recommended) withInternet access.

4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

5) Test scores from the GRE if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA wasbelow 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scores must be submitted prior toregular acceptance into the program. Applicants are expected tosubmit scores that indicate potential in the program.

6) Completion of an advisory briefing with the first year of enrollment ishighly recommended. e briefing may be completed in either agroup session or individual conference, either by phone or in person,with a faculty advisor.

Engineering (MSE)1) A bachelor of science degree in engineering, engineering technology,

or a closely related area.2) Specific course requirements include one year of calculus, two courses

in physics, and one course in each of the following: structuredprogramming, differential equations and chemistry. Additionally, onecourse in each of the following engineering topics is required:mechanics, thermodynamics, circuit analysis, and systems analysis. Itis expected that the applicant has earned a letter grade of “C” orbetter in each of these required undergraduate courses.

3) Test scores from the GRE general test if an applicant’s undergraduateGPA is less than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants are expected tosubmit scores that indicate potential for success in the MSE program,including scores from the “quantitative” and “analytical” test sectionthat are in the upper 50 percentile of those tested.

4) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant is requiredto speak with the MSE program director, either by phone or inperson, to plan a course of study.

5) Two letters of recommendation.

Engineering Management (MSEM)Marketing and Export Management (MSXM)New Product Management (MSNP)1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field.2) Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet

3) Transcripts should show proof of undergraduate course work incollege algebra, introduction to statistics, introduction to computers,computer programming and medical terminology.

4) If your native language is not English, a score of 100 or higher on theInternet-based Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL) withSpeaking is required.

5) ree letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

6) A personal essay stating why the applicant wishes to pursue this degree.

7) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant is requiredto speak with the MSMI program director, either by phone or inperson, to plan a course of study.

*Please note that applications are evaluated in their entirety. Ifapplicants are deficient in one or more areas, they still are encouraged toapply and we may be able to recommend ways to complete theprerequisites and requirements.

Perfusion (MSP)Academic Requirements:1) Applicants must have earned a bachelor of science degree in

an appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology,biomedical sciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale).

2) At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy andphysiology) is required. Recommended course work includesbiochemistry, math, physics, and statistics.

3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percent or better.

4) ree letters of recommendation, two of which should be fromfaculty who can judge the applicant’s academic abilities. e thirdmay be from a faculty member or a supervisor/employer who canspeak to the applicant’s professionalism, ability to work on a team, be responsible, etc.

Clinical Requirements:1) Applicant must have observed at least two clinical cases under

the direction of a certified clinical perfusionist prior to formalacceptance into the program. If applicants cannot schedule caseviewings locally, these can be done at our facilities if the applicant is invited for an interview.

2) Successful completion of a personal interview.

Structural Engineering (MSST)1) A bachelor of science degree in an architectural, civil, or structural

engineering program, or a closely related degree.2) Specific undergraduate course requirements include indeterminate

structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete designand soil mechanics. Applicants who hold an engineering degree, butlack some of the specific course requirements, or applicants who holdclosely related degrees, may need to complete deficiencies inundergraduate course work. Applicants may be permitted to begincourse work on a probationary status. Such decisions are made on acase-by-case basis.

3) Test scores from the GRE general test may be required fromapplicants whose undergraduate GPA is less than 2.80 (on a 4.00scale). In such cases, test scores must be submitted prior to regularacceptance into the Master of Science in Structural Engineeringprogram. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicatepotential for success in the program.

4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

5) A personal essay stating why the applicant wishes to pursue this degree.

Federal and State Financial Aid Eligibility

A student must be enrolled in a minimum of six undergraduateor three graduate credits per term in a degree-seeking program tobe eligible to apply for federal and state aid.

How to Apply for Financial Aidat MSOE• Admission - Be accepted for admission to MSOE. Your formal

admission is used to evaluate your eligibility for aid.• FAFSA - Complete the Free Application for Federal Student

Aid (FAFSA). You may receive this form by contacting theMSOE Student Financial Aid Office or by applying via theInternet at www.fafsa.gov. When applying online, use MSOE’sFAFSA number 003868.

Your award offer determined by MSOE’s Financial Aid Officewill be mailed to you and will list all aid you have been awardedfor the upcoming academic year.

Payment in FullStudents are billed at the beginning of each term for the fullamount due for the term by the due date listed on the bill.Financial AidStudents who have been awarded financial aid will generally have their aid automatically applied to their tuition account. Anybalance not covered by financial aid is either due by the thirdMonday of the term or can be divided into monthly paymentsusing the H.E.L.P. plan.H.E.L.P. Payment PlanMSOE’s in-house payment plan, H.E.L.P. (Helping EveryoneLearn and Pay) offers students monthly payment plans foramounts due. e student determines how much of their balancethey wish to divide into monthly payments. Any amount notcovered by H.E.L.P. will be due when billed. Questions and AnswersQ. What will happen if my account is past due?A. Late fees of not more than one percent per month on the total

unpaid charge will accrue until your account is current. Inaddition, you will not be allowed to register for future terms.

Q. If I am receiving financial aid (or other funds) that is in excessof tuition/fees, will I receive a refund?

A. Yes. Refunds are processed after all tuition, fee, room andboard and other charges are paid. Your refund will beprocessed within 10 days of posting a credit balance. Refundchecks are automatically mailed to the local address you haveon record with the Registrar’s Office.

Q. What will happen if I withdraw from the university?

A. Withdrawing from MSOE, as well as dropping classes, can have an adverse effect on your financial aid as well as your balance due. Visit www.msoe.edu/finaid for detailed information.
